I feel zero sympathy for anyone who feels victimized by online comments. Newsflash, you don't have to read the comments.

The fact these WNBA players want to be treated like NBA players is laughable.
It’s not just online comments. It’s largely DMs. And my guess is most of the people sending these messages aren’t actually fans of the Fever or the WNBA and many of them have probably never even watched a game. The league has become the battleground for a proxy race war being fought largely by people who don’t give a damn about the league.

If anyone is interested, Sydney Colson’s podcast is up today. She talks about the A’ja Wilson incident and about social justice in general. I agree with some of what she says and I disagree with some of it. But it’s interesting to hear her perspective as a Black lesbian who has played both for and against the Fever. The podcast is called Unsupervised with Syd & TP.

Really going to be a short off season. Who's paying for this nonsense? "salaries like women's basketball has never seen", and " an equity stake'" for another sideshow league? So someone's going to pay Mitchell over a million dollars to play ball another three months for games on YouTube? Pure stupid....
Co-founder Grady Burnett has explicitly denied direct Saudi Arabian financial backing or investment in the league's cap table.

I read somewhere that 20% of adults have Twitter and 10% of those users make 80% of the tweets.

So 1 adult out of 50 make 80% of the tweets. And that adult is probably a nameless and faceless jackass troll. Always cracked me up that people were so wrapped up in what is trending on Twitter, or the fact that the news constantly cites Twitter trends when its an extremely small percentage of people that make these trends, especially when these trends don't represent actual real life.

The fact the WNBA gives credence to this nonsense is laughable. GMAFB

I expected KM to resign last year, but this time it feels like she might be gone. What top talent would the Fever be able to attract if KM leaves because she's tired of the noise that surrounds the team and then former players (activists) Bree Turner and Sydney Colson are out there trashing the Fever organization?

Boston clearly tripped Wilson on that play.
Clearly I disagree. Watch the replay, there's one in this thread. Page 426, post 17006. Boston is back pedaling away from Aja. Aja jams her right foot into Bostons left foot, and then loses her balance. Aja extends her foot INTO Bostons foot, after Bostons foot is planted on the floor. How is that Boston tripping Aja? Is Boston not allowed to have her feet on the floor? Certainly Aja tripped over Bostons left foot, but Boston was moving away from her. not towards her, and Aja moved forward into Boston.

If Clark signs the EPIC extension, it locks her into the Fever through 2030 at the earliest. If she doesn't sign an extension, she plays 2027 on the team option at her rookie salary. Then they can Core Designate her for 2028 and again for 2029 at something like 20% of the salary cap.

The EPIC extension would basically add about $1MM to her salary for 2027, but would be roughly equivalent to the Core Designation salary for the 2028 and 2029 seasons. It would be guaranteed money through that contract as long as she's playing or injured from playing. But, the EPIC extension is a mandatory minimum of 3 years past her rookie team option year. Meaning it would contract her to the Fever for 2028, 2029, and 2030.

Honestly with her income from other sources, she'd be much better served giving up the $1MM next year and having the option to have freedom from the Fever one year sooner if their front office never gets their act together. She also may be able to force them to not Core Designate her in 2029 or instead force some sort of sign and trade.

Plum can’t guard anyone either. And she’s been hurt a lot. Not a great fit.
Agreed. She's basically the same player as KM with similar skills and deficiencies. Both 5'8" and shoot basically the same percentages from the floor throughout their careers. Plum has provided a shade more in assists and rebounds, but not enough that she'd be an upgrade. Maybe you could get her for a cheaper contract than KM will want since she only made $1MM this past season.

But the Fever don't need to replace KM with a 20+ point scorer, they need to use her money to find a starting SG that can play defense first and also chip in 8ish points. And then a SF that can do similar. Do that, and suddenly Clark can once again be the worst defender on the floor and not hurt the team as much so that she can save some energy for the offensive side of the floor where she flourishes. The Fever can't go into next season hoping that scoring 100 points is good enough to win games. They need to reduce the number of points given up on defense, even if it means reducing the amount they score on offense.

They also need more depth in the post, especially when Boston isn't on the floor or even available.

55 votes for Clark, out of 74 voters. So 19 people seriously thought the greatest season by a PG ever wasn’t worth top 5 in the MVP race. But Jessica Shepard, Jackie Young, Gabby Williams, Veronica Burton, Shakira Austin, Rhyne Howard, and Angel Reese were all top 5 in some people’s eyes.

Next year with better health and team cohesiveness she could possibly drop 25 points per game with 10 assists and 3 turnovers and people would say that still isn’t good enough. That is only one extra made 3 pt shot, 2 missed layups by teammates converted, and one pass off of a teammates hands that they didn’t catch(or one fewer dumb pass by Clark) compared to her current season.

I’m sure Aja will be anointed as MVP before the season starts though.

Why would any competent GM bring back this Big 3 Core ( and all that comes with them including contracts) and expect a different result?

the problem isn’t coaching. It’s the idea that this Big 3 core is the foundation of a title contender. They’re not. For 137 different reasons.

Shouldn't the Liberty know if they have a reset timeout or not? They either used it already or they didn't. Why would they need to ask anyone?
What I can't get past is why they didn't confer with the scorers table in that moment as soon as the refs told them they didn't have a reset TO.

If they thought they did (or even if they weren't sure), they should still be allowed to dispute that with the scorers table.

Now IF they weren't allowed the time or opportunity to do that, THEN that'd be worth a discussion about the dumbf***ery of the officials.

I haven't looked into this very much, but from what Ive heard, it sounds like the coach for the Liberty is basically just a figurehead more than some one who actually understands how to manage a game, like most coaches in the player-run WNBA ("inmates running the asylum").

My guess is the coach knows they f***ed up.

I think it can go both ways. I wonder how many people making hateful comments are really Fever fans? Anyone can claim to be one online!
Honestly, a lot of them that make unprovoked derogatory comments towards WNBA players, coaches etc represent themselves as Fever or CC or Iowa fans, but they're also incredibly immature or ignorant people.

I could dive into all the specifics, but it's honestly not worth it. The fact is their stupidity isn't worth the stupidity that is directed towards Caitlin as a result.

And that's always been my biggest issue.

They all keep saying, we're not calling out ALL Fever/CC/Iowa fans.....just the racists and the bigots and the MAGA trolls etc, and we're not taking it out on CC.

And yet their actions and words go completely against that.............thousands upon thousands upon thousands of people don't just hate watch CC because they don't like her flopping and complaining to the officials and coaches. And even if they did it would still make them hypocrites. So the fact that those aren't the only reasons they hate watch makes it far worse for them.

And that's just the fans. We haven't even delved into the players (and coaches and league personnel) who take issue with Caitlin's celebrity and on-court personality.

My favorite part in all of this is that these people, the CC haters, the players and staff that hold grudges against her.....we're all aware of what their ideal endgame would be if they got their way.

But they can't publicly admit what that is because they would concede that they're the bad guys in all this. They want to be seen as the blameless victims. Can't do that if you're trying to force a player to bend a knee, or simply go away thinking that would put an end to all "online harrassment".......................

Caitlin will not win anything with how the Fever are currently operating. Stephanie White is definitely not the coach the team needs. The Fever need someone who knows how to utilize CC, while also emphasizing team defense. The Fever need better depth and a bolstered frontcourt. While Boston is a solid player, the team needs someone who can defend and rebound. Too often did they get burned by a fast guard driving to the hoop. Basically the whole team outside of CC, KM, and maybe Boston should be on the potential chopping block.

At the same time, it absolutely feels like the league is against her. Most of the players either treat her like **** on or off the court. So I'm not sure who they would add or what coach they would hire. Either way, I think she's in a ****** situation.
