Stubborn *** Cal. That’s waving the flag. Which is what Tubby did.

Time to mutually part ways.
Bull crap. You accuse the man of NBA first which was crap and just marketing. Now you are bitching because he won’t accept a bidding war. That’s not stubborn, that’s principled. UK first, not NIL first

Imo people are reading it the wrong way. Sounds like cal doesn't want to get into nil bidding wars where players/reps want certain monetary guarantees. I think he's right to avoid that because it will be nothing but trouble.
And violates ky law.

Baloney. UK first would have meant Sharpe played or hit the bricks. Something else is going on here. Cal can't reconcile the two behaviors, and neither can you.

My take is different here. I took what he was saying as:

-If a transfer reaches out and asks about NIL immediately--we pass which I agree with. You have a roster of guys you recruited/selected the program, and some Transfer putting an asking price ahead of how they'd fit basketball wise...pass on them. Causes team chemistry issues.

-He's right about facilities--you have to stay at least even if you are a program like Kentucky or you fall behind. That's not about just helping himself either, it's helping who replaces him.

-The Jai Lucas thing....think he's playing to the fact some read that Lucas may have wanted more $ and UK declined. That would be dismissing/firing and he's just saying "Lucas chose to leave for a better personal situation".

-Big Blue Madness being stale/in need of being reenergized is 100% true. It's a boring unwatchable event and part of it would be dumping the wasted women's crap--but that will never happen in today's "Basketball is Basketball" lie that everyone embraces while most cringe inside knowing that there's a significant difference.

-Really was interested in his take on the Player Development/Who did you help approach to hiring the next Assistant.

-Did he mention anything about Strength and Conditioning Hire? That's another area they can upgrade the program.

Actually like how he's speaking to Issel/Pratt and being more vocal. Know some are just sick of hearing his voice, but you can't hide when you have been part of failing. Need to be the same person you were all along. Whether fans have doubts/want change (which I understand and agree in many areas) at least he's speaking and not hiding. Now the thing that comes with speaking, is you get held to your word. He's stating that '23 recruiting is "we're ahead of the game"-that has to deliver. This fails....and no excuses. Going to use his words against him as HE stated this and nobody questioned this at all.

All that does is show that Cal is two-faced and that there was an even bigger, deeper reason for the Sharpe debacle. Cal's behavior is inconsistent. And I don't see people advocating for being held hostage. But Cal is unwilling to negotiate at all? That smacks of MITCH.
Cal can’t negotiate. Cal doesn’t pay NIL. KY can’t pay NIL. Why are you trying to turn us into U6?

I’m pretty over Cal these days, but I am not as agitated with this comment (but it’s going get twisted around to sound like he doesn’t talk NIL). If a players is focused solely on NIL and getting a set dollar amount, I don’t have an issue with moving on. If you’re a baller, and pick UK, the money and NIL will work itself out. I doubt Cal refuses to discuss NIL, but it shouldn’t be the sole focus of recruiting.

Except we don't have a full roster so how do you expect Cal to get transfers we need without NIL?The guy is actually bragging about a commit to come soon who is unranked. That's not going to get it done.

Wasn’t his point the UK won’t guarantee NIL money before they sign? Which is still against the rules I’m pretty sure.

Wait a sec. Dicky V said UK has an unfair advantage with NIL. Now you're saying we can't AFFORD it? That means Mitch told Cal no. Why would Mitch do that?

Sounds like Cal is trying to prep everyone for why UK can’t get elite recruits and moving towards development of lower rated kids as what UK will have to do!🥵🥵🥵
Sounds to me like he doesn’t want transfers that want guarantees of dollar amounts before they come to UK. And I agree with that

Mitch is 100% against NIL. Other schools are setting up groups to pool NIL money to pay once signed but Brother Barnhart is against it all.

Uh...Ty, Oscar, Sharpe, and even Dontaie got NIL money. Square that circle.

His response should have been…

here at kentucky, we’re going to take every single avenue we can to insure that the kids wanting to come here are compensated both in there wallets and education wise. As long as it’s allowed by the ncaa, we will do everything we can to make sure that every kid that comes here has a future well beyond basketball

My point was all you guys are mad because you say Sharpe held Cal hostage. Now Cal says he won’t deal with players that demand deal before even getting here. You should be happy about that. It’s what you wanted him to do.
I want Cal gone but the guidelines set forth prohibits coaches from uing NIL to recruit. There will be a day of reckoning and some programs are going to "hung out to dry" as examples. Probably within the next 2-3 years they will be forced to get this under control.

Oscar seems to have landed huge deals not to have been organized.
Oscar is already here. You can’t promise deals to get recruits to sign. And you can believe what you want but UK is behind in thinking and planning for NIL deals.

It is messed up but unless the ncaa steps in to regulate it, it is the way it is going to be. UK will have to adapt or get left behind.
I dont think anyone here could dislike CCC more than me. I saw his demise before 2015. Hate just about everything about him. Im not sure why he's taking the path against NIL moneys but someone need to stand up and say this is totally fvcked. I support him in taking a stand against it. The question is, do we admire standing of for principal more than winning at any cost. And I do understand UK could or would suffer for doing so. The game as passed CCC by-- if he ever really understood the game to begin with but I think hes spot in about NIL. That will destroy CBB and damn fast.

He’s against players demanding desks before they sign. Which is exactly what 90% on here wants him to do. But they spin it to be bad.

No, but I am saying you can’t read. Cal and KY can’t pay NIL because it is against the rules. KY did not pay Oscar’s NIL. That is between the business and the player. KY merely helped Oscar with the immigration rules. Dick V was babbling. I thought the biggest oxymoron in history would have made that clear.

It’s not a question of affording anything. It’s a question of playing within the rules.

Bravo to Mitch and Cal for their ethics.

We just had a guy that Cal allowed to use NIL like crazy and didn't bother to play. Now Cal is offended by NIL?Hilarious.
Just wait, in a couple days he’ll be saying something that contradicts this statement.

Seems like Cal often just speaks out his *** the last couple years. Just says random things without concern for whether he really means it or whether it contradicts something else he said.

These players are collectively awful. Pure trash for the most part. I cannot stand the sight of most of these kids coming out. I’d look some of them right in the eye along with their “handlers” and tell them if you want to improve, become well adjusted, win, and be a part of something bigger than yourself then come on. If you’re asking for money, don’t make the trip there’s no need.

People need to begin to stand up to this nonsense. None of them are victims and most of them need to be told to hit the bridge.

There’s no way for any of this to sustain. Time to put the screws down and stop caving to it.
