there is quite a bit more to that story being omitted though.....gas was low due to covid lockdowns and no demand.....gas rose coming out of covid because the global demand rebounded much faster than the oil producers could ramp up, hence low supply and high demand equaled the higher cost on a global scale and Russia invading Ukraine
It’s just a matter of time at this point until the all-time record for gas prices is shattered, and it will be under Trump’s watch. I’m interested to see how the goalposts shift then. What will they pull out of the Biden toolbox next?

when Obama left office to Trump the nat. avg for reg was $2.32 to $2.34.......under Trump it got as high as $2.96 and the lowest during lockdowns of $1.77 and when he left office the avg was $2.39
Why are you leaving out the Biden administration and Keystone pipeline?

I think the few right leaners here are concerned about Iran, and we definitely don't like seeing gas where it is. On the conflict with Iran? The last 40 some years each President, and potential ones before Trump, it's as if they all read off the same prompter, saying they are a major threat, can't be allowed to have... but now it's a problem that we are there.

No one that's paid ANY attention at all the last 7-8 years would say things were good before Trump became President.

Something that few talk about is Covid. It's like anyone over 40 has lived in two totally different worlds because of it. Life before Covid is now a new way. Nothing has been the same since.
Trump has already lost the war with Iran, and it was over four months ago. You can’t win a war without clear objectives. Wars aren’t won on vibes and BS, and that’s all this administration has. The Right is just pretending that’s not the case to inflate the old man’s ego because they’re scared of him. Meanwhile, American soldiers are being used as props and intentionally left in harm’s way.

He’s going to collapse the world economy by continuing this, and it’s all in service to his fragile ego. I know the bond market is way outside your wheelhouse, but you should find a smart person to explain it to you. Everyone should be deeply concerned by what’s going on.

There are a lot of rumors circulating right now that there was a significant strike on base in Jordan last night that possibly resulted in a lot of US casualties. As per usual, with this administration, no information has been released as of yet.
That last sentence was a doozy. No info released was Hiden Biden’s whole term. We went months without seeing him. The little Raggedy Ann press secretary had a heck of a time trying to answer any questions coming from conservative outlets.

“Gas prices became low due to Covid lockdowns”. You are aware that Trump was Pres for three years prior to Covid I assume?

So when Obama left office and Trump left office gas prices were essentially the same. Seems like an odd thing to point out given the overall tenor of your posting history.

In case you missed it, this was my response to your post earlier. Thoughts?

Gas was $3.12 a gallon on Biden’s last day in office. Today, during Trump’s presidency, the national average is $4.12. The average price of diesel is $5.68. We are 13 cents away from the all-time record.

This is happening today, by the way, not back in 2022. Gas spiked in 2022 because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which was obviously outside of the president’s control. Gas is high today because Trump decided to go to war with Iran, which is completely his fault.

Where’s your outrage at Trump? Why aren’t you talking about what’s happening today, right now? Is it just not convenient for you?

factual statement, truth is the truth.....as typed his prices did have a 2.96 high a point and also had a 1.77 low .....and correct, his ending price was on par w/ what he was given...end of the day that's a good thing, but Biden's term had high prices due to what i stated, the global demand rebound and russia/ukraine

Why are you leaving out the Biden administration and Keystone pipeline?
President Joe Biden’s cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline permit did not have any direct or measurable effect on gas prices. [1]

Why the Cancellation Did Not Affect Prices
    • Not operational: The Keystone XL project was an uncompleted, planned expansion. It was not operational when its permit was revoked in January 2021, and it was not scheduled to be finished and carrying oil until 2023. [1, 2]
    • No immediate supply impact: Energy and market analysts note that an unfinished pipeline cannot transport oil, meaning its termination could not alter existing crude supply or impact prices at the pump. [1, 2]
    • Global market drivers: Energy experts state that consumer gasoline prices are driven by global market dynamics, such as worldwide crude oil costs, post-pandemic demand spikes, and geopolitical conflicts like Russia's invasion of Ukraine, rather than individual North American pipeline projects. [1, 2]
    • Destination of the oil: The 830,000 barrels per day intended for the Keystone XL extension were slated for Gulf Coast refineries, with a significant portion positioned for international export markets rather than guaranteed domestic use. [1]

The Real Drivers of Gas Prices During This Period
    • Post-lockdown demand: Travel and economic activity rebounded rapidly after pandemic restrictions lifted, outpacing the speed at which global oil production could ramp back up. [1, 2, 3]
    • International conflict: The war in Ukraine and subsequent international sanctions on Russian petroleum restricted global energy supplies, causing historic spikes in crude oil costs that directly raised domestic pump prices. [1, 2]

As Mac and I have noted, we’ve both been dissatisfied with how Trump’s past year has gone. Personally I think if he was going to war with Iran, he should have bombed the hell out of them and got it over quickly. We can call a spade a spade, but you’re not willing to say that Sleepy Joe was an empty suit and was totally inept to be the President. I guess you were fine with sending billions of dollars to Ukraine. Oh yeah, Biden was returning a favor.

Gas prices fluctuate. That indeed is a fact. The reasons behind the price hike during Biden’s term haven’t been contested on my end for the most part, although having an addled Pres coming off the botched withdrawal in Afghanistan most likely emboldened Putin, but I digress. The concerning thing with your posting and the question it raises is simply this: if high gas prices are so catastrophic to the average American why were you silent for four years? In fact, we were told during Biden’s term that high gas prices are a good thing. People will drive less and it will motivate consumers to go electric. Are you denying that the narrative around high gas prices shifts depending on who is Pres?

Biden is not president and has been gone for nearly two years.

I’m much more concerned with the current inept, empty suit occupying the Oval Office, who seems to be concerned only with enriching himself at the American taxpayers expense, building ballrooms, and collapsing the world economy around us.

All due respect, bombing the hell out of them was tried and failed. Here’s the thing. If preventing Iran from having a nuclear weapon is in our long term national security interests then boots on the ground would be justified. By broadcasting early on that boots on the ground weren’t on the table, we also told Iran that we don’t really have the stomach for this. They knew that already given our nation’s distaste for the forever wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but the administration’s messaging crystallized it. This is a regime that survived an eight year ground war with Iraq. For all of his bravado, Trump has signaled weakness from the beginning. When has a limited aerial campaign ever brought another nation to its knees? I commend Trump for not destroying key civilian infrastructure but at some point you begin to wonder if the man actually understands what the word war means.
Wars worth fighting are worth winning. You shouldn’t start a war if you’re unwilling to do what it takes to win a war.
Before anyone gets it twisted, I’m not advocating for a massive ground invasion, but highlighting the reckless, naive approach to war exhibited by this admin.

The national average price for gas during Trump's first term was roughly $2.52 a gallon compared to Biden's four years around $3.45 a gallon. No spin needed. The price in 2025 was $3.10. Not what we want, but .20 lower than Biden's last year.

This year isn't going well though. No if and's or but's.

I agree with your assessment. A war like this has never been won by air power alone. I think they really believed they could just take out the leaders and the whole thing would collapse like Venezuela, but that shows how inept these guys are. Iran is not Venezuela. Hegseth was never up for the job, but he should’ve never been chosen for it either, and that falls on Trump.

All of this was incredibly predictable and was apparently laid out in detail by Gabbard and U.S. intelligence in the days leading up to the war. Those warnings were completely disregarded by Trump. “Everything works out in the end.”

I still don’t think a ground invasion is completely off the table. I just think they’ll wait until after the midterms to go for it. It’s not winnable, though, with the current state of the military. Look up the war games held between U.S. and Ukrainian soldiers a couple of months ago. It did not go well. We are unprepared for the type of drone warfare that has evolved between Russia and Ukraine, and I don’t think the American people are ready to watch those types of videos…
