You just finished giving me a completely misguided lecture about prejudice and obsession, and then immediately turned around and started assigning motives to someone based on the fact that you assume he’s Black. Apparently his race tells you what he thinks, why he thinks it, which atrocities he’s required to care about, and even why he talks about slavery.

There’s a pretty ugly pattern developing here. You filter people’s arguments through whatever racial or ethnic identity you’ve assigned them, invent motives for them based on that identity, and then accuse everyone else of prejudice. You’re so consumed with finding bigotry in other people that you apparently can’t recognize your own prejudicial reasoning when you put it in writing. As for the rest, which cities were destroyed? I must've missed the news on that. In terms of looting and property destruction in general, I feel they are counterproductive and the people who partake should most certainly be arrested. I never said any of the protests were mostly peaceful because I didn't witness any of them, so how would I know?

Let me ask you: 10,000 people at a protest. 9,990 of them are staging a sit-in and 10 of them are looting and setting buildings on fire. Mostly peaceful or not?

I think this gets to the heart of what he’s been doing today, even if he’s completely oblivious to it. When he knows he can’t win an argument on its merits, he lashes out and starts creating entirely different arguments in his head. He assigns people positions they never took, invents motives they never expressed, and then gets angry at them over these imagined, fictional slights.

When this pointed out to him, there’s no recalibration or acknowledgment that he may have misunderstood someone. Every correction is treated like another attack, which gives him another reason to lash out and keeps him from ever having to consider that he may actually be the problem.

This explains the staggering hypocrisy displayed today. Yet, he seems completely unaware that the imagined behavior he finds so objectionable in everyone else is the same behavior he’s actively engaged in. I’m sorry you somehow became collateral damage from my exchange with him.
