Pregame the rematch with UCLA in '17 was a week long build of nerves.

Went to the Sweet Sixteen game vs K State down here in '18. Walked in peacocking around, then watched us in warmups and immediately got stressed. Knox didn't hit one three in warmups. Knew we were in for it.

Highest high walking out of ncaa tourney game = 2014 Wisconsin.

Lowest low walking out of tourney game = 2015 Wisconsin.

**I wasn’t at the 2012 or 2014 Louisville games but I’d imagine that high would be higher.

Tourneys Eve Shorts:

- Got an invite to go to Indy this weekend. Lol no. I’ll never go back to that ******** for basketball ever again. Never ever ever. F that place.

- There is no player I’ve been more disappointed in this year than Jahvon Quinnerly. Legit thought he was one of the best handful of guards in the tournament last year.

- Man, Jaden Hardy’s stock has plummeted in the G-League. From Top 3 to late late first round.

- Gottlieb, among the college basketball voices I most respect, has Big Blue cuttin’em down.

- The South and the Midwest seem pretty weak to me.

- My Final 4- Zags, Kentucky, Tennessee and San Diego State.

- Wife informed me she had to have a “come to Jesus” conversation with my mother-in-law over how she treats Blue, our golden retriever. I was perplexed. She often watches Blue and seems to always treat him just fine besides occasionally getting annoyed when he gets on her guest bed and couch. “Well, yeah she treats him well as a dog, but not like he’s my son. She needs to treat him like our son”

^ So this is the level of crazy I’m dealing with up here.

How does your mother-in-law treat the cats?

Shockingly, as a native South Dakotian, she’s not a big animal person. She treats them fine but my father-in-law apparently fed every stray potcake in Nassau back in the day. When they started dating, he had a pack of like nine dogs who’d show up to his house every day. 😂 Our daughter is going to be just like her mom. Can already tell.

One of my superstitions is right before the tournament starts or early in the tournament, if the Cats win it all or over achieve like in 2014, I will randomly hear Al Stewart's "Year of the Cat" on some station. It came on during my drive to work this morning. So, I've got that going for me.

*2012 UL game at 80's house was brutal. I had full confidence UK would win, but the "what if" thoughts couldn't be erased. Pure jubilation afterwards.

*2014 was on another level too. Them coming off a title, us sky high from beating WSU the weekend before made for an awesome atmosphere.

*That weekend I was interviewed by some TV station as I was walking to the bar. Asked how much I paid for the ticket, "No comment. I don't know who may see this."

Told UL fans as they walked in Tin Roof I hope they "piss on their balls!" It was fun.

Got a UL fan that was sitting behind me to leave the game after he starting talking **** to me about beating UK. I started in on the YUM! center financing, which he disagreed with, but I was convincing. The final straw was I told him I refuse to continue a financial argument with a man that voluntarily wore sweatpants to a game. Even UL fans started laughing, which is why I believe he decided to exit.

Afterwards, randomly found TO and we proceeded to see Adrian and SAE doing snow angels in an ice pile.

Ended the night with Jimmy John's....passed out cold.

/Great time.

-I just want to win number 9. That’s it. This year.

-Louisville could do far worse than Kenny Payne. UofL fan won’t like it because “OmG We CoUlD HaVe Got Scott DreW!!!” but that’s because they live under delusions not representative of where their program is.

-Got my yearly checkup this afternoon and while I’m a relatively healthy 41 I still always get this feeling in the back of my mind they’re going to find something bad. Maybe that’s getting old and having a second child in August staring me down.

-Cal bought 2.5 million dollar house in Nashville the other day. Pretty toney area near Belmont. What does this mean…..

-It’s PTO for this guy starting Thursday. Denver omelet and a Bloody Mary as is tradition. LFG!

Any UK who was living in Louisville in 1983 would rate that original "Dream Game" as the most stressful tournament game of all time by a wiiiiiiiide margin. Being almost 12 yrs old just made it worse.

The experience was not even like following a basketball game and more similar to how it would feel if you were hiding in a closet from an axe murderer stalking you throughout your home.

The 1st loss I took very hard was losing to LSU in 1986. I was living in Portland so the bus rides listening to "ROSES BE RED AND VIOLTES BE BLUE, LOUISVILLE GOING TO DALLAS WHAT HAPPENED TO BIG BLUE" over, and over, and over, and over, and over....

Even worse when they actually won it all. At least it was their last one.

* I just want to feel like this again:

* In 2012 I was a 2L at UK and as soon as the game was over, we piled into cars and honked the whole way to Limestone. I had a helluva time convincing my friend Otis (ex-UK and NFL DE) that going to State Street would be a bad idea since we had C&F applications coming up. My friend Erica sharpied a unibrow onto her face and was so hungover she puked in the UK law library trash can the next day. It was amazing.

* When they announced the team was going to drive the bus into Rupp with the banner, I walked from the law building down to Rupp and absolutely sweat my *** off. Classes weren't cancelled for some ridiculous reason, but Professor Connelly walked out with me and said "hell with this, we got a title!" and absolutely MOTORED her way down Limestone. 🤣

* I watched 2014 UL at Tin Roof at the Banks with my cousin. We were both incredibly redass and loud the whole game and yelled things about Luke Hancock's mom, and right after the game some random offered me $20 to suckerpunch his buddy, a UofL fan who had been an even bigger ******* than me the whole game. I was not sober but fortunately declined.

* I think those "stress sweat" deodorant lines were designed for me during the NCAA tournament. They still don't work.

* GD IT CAL ITS ******* TIME LETS GO.

I think the sun comes up at 10 in the morning and goes down at 3 in the day.

At least in Harlan.

So I’ve heard.

it does tend to get blocked by mountainsides

that story about W State fans being

insufferable was surprising- were they just doing the regular “we do things the right way - kentucky cheats” mantra ?

i actually did yard work and didn’t watch that game live at ALL - that’s peak nervousness for me ....an embargo

St Peters has to be the first and only “Peacocks” mascot i’ve seen -

I hereby swear off cheap beer and the inevitable 4-Ibuprofen headaches they provide

Who wants to bet we get one more snow before the end of April?

June (2nd most beautiful month behind October) is Freshman orientation at UK for my youngest - can’t wait ...and i also dread it

Mig15s were gorgeous aircraft (albeit stolen tech from the germans and brits - possible us too)

Rewatched MASH for the first time since i was a preteen - funnier than i remember

Billy Strings - Dust in a Baggie
Black Sabbath - St. Vitus’ Dance
Goat - Run to Your Momma (thanks , Rudd)
The Weekend - anything they play
Roosevelt - anything they play

12 year old SWFL ran into his bedroom and cried like a little girl after that 86 LSU loss. That was a hell of a squad. 32-4. Nothing much worse than losing in the E8. Ugh

that one hurt - still bothers me

I remember the tourney montage playing “ALL I NEED IS A MIRACLE “ by Mike and the Mechanics....and showing all the big moments etc ...they panned to Skywalker crying on the sidelines

I hated the CBS for that

The 80s were filled with gut wrenching losses.

hell the decade started with a NIT loss then encored with back to back top 10-15 UK teams losing in round 1

You’re right - even when it was good it hurt like hell (83 dream game loss / 84 Georgetown debacle ....damn i’m fkking mad now ....)

destroying Louisville in Rupp during the 83-84 regular season then knocking them out of the tourney that same year

beating down very good Illinois and BYU teams in the tourney

Beating an Outstanding Oklahoma team at Rupp with a last second (Cedric Jenkins?) tip in

Several *** whippings served up for Kansas

The Super Big Boy is excessive. Sorry. I won’t budge on this one.
The current version of the Super Big Boy isn't as big as the regular Big Boy was back in the day. I would know, I used to get treated to one after schooling little punk *** Happy Meal eating bitches like you at Arnold Gym on Saturday mornings.

We can discuss this further at Jerzee's on Friday, if you wish. Seriously, I'm trying to take Friday off so I can do a repeat of last year. You better be there. That goes for cool lurkers, too.

* Tampa was pretty cool. I drank way too much. Ate some good ****.

* Apparently, living in Ohio did not remove all of the Kentucky redneck from my system. I was touching hot after the UT game. I wanted a fight. Not proud of my actions, but I hate those orange bastards.

* There was nearly a rumble in our hotel bar during the Selection Show. The bartender turned up the volume on the TV for the couple of dozen UK fans that were gathered around. A couple of Arkansas fans started bitching and complaining wondering why we wanted to watch it.

They booed when we got a 2-seed and started chanting overrated. I walked out to the pool to grab a beer from my cooler and when I came back in, all hell was breaking loose. Pushing and shoving. Screaming and yelling. Bartender kicked the Hawgs out and Go Big Blue chants were heard for miles.

* I still like my team. Not as much as I did 3 weeks ago, but I still like them.

* Bob Castellini can lick my taint. Way to kill the season before it starts. Thanks for keeping me from wasting my time, I guess?

* The Witcher season 2 was ok. Less boobs and sex and more hard to understand plot lines than season 1. But it was still watchable.

* I'm going to be a single Dad from Saturday night until the following Saturday night. Right in the middle of March Madness. Soccer tournaments 2 hours away. Play practice. A Volleyball game. Are you effing kidding me?

* Touch it. Let's win this thing, Cats.

We also took out IU in the 83 Sweet 16 before losing the Dream Game. Both teams were seeded higher than us.

-segunda's first HS tennis match yesterday...victory. As a freshman she's low on the depth chart, but she and her partner blanked a team of similar/age and experience. Shows promise.

^was disappointed when she decide to stop basketball...but the crowd experience is *much* nicer. No one getting kicked out and such. Less screaming.

The 1980's was when my fandom was shaped but Jesus what a terrible time as a UK fan. 1980 started with an opening round loss to Duke at Rupp when we were ranked like #5 in the country and of course, UofL went on to win it all. 1981 lost to UAB, 1982 lost to Middle Tennessee (with UofL waiting next), UofL 1983, 1984 in complete control vs. Georgetown for a half and the all systems failure in the 2nd, 1985 the lone bright spot UK in a rebuilding year with upsets against Washington and UNLV and beating St.John's late in the first half Chris Mullen decided to gouge Kenny Walker's eye out, '86 LSU after beating them 3x that year, 1987 losing to lower seeded mediocre Villanova, '88 13-19, 1989 probation.

Facebook Memories in March are so great to browse through. I get like 10-15 every single day, and all of them are awesome - great way to wake up.

It's pretty crazy how many experiences UK Basketball has provided most of us over our lifetimes.
Yup, lots of these popping up. Lots of good ones out there and great memories. Seems surreal it's been 3 effing years since we've done this.
