what's your download internet connection speed. I've had zero issues with it. literally zero. smooth as butter zero buffering or pixilation...1920x1080p all day all night 60 frames per second. then again my internet speed is insane fast...350 megabits / second down and 35 up. but you only need like 10 mbit/sec consistently.
Not sure on the download speed...guess I need to check it and boost it up if I can do that. Thanks for sharing that info...that is nice to know you have no issues and I can possibly do the same thing. The interesting thing is that I have no issues watching on the computer, only when I view sports on my TV.

YouTube TV has been really good, you can't get it on a Fire Stick though, I'm using a Roku Express, it does pretty good most of the time but can't connect to 5g.

Is your Roku connected via wireless to your dsl modem or cable modem? I have the Roku 4 that does 4k etc etc. zero issues but you should check with your internet provider and see what speed you are paying for. are you cable internet or DSL ? Cable is far superior if you can get that service. I'm comcast. try a speedtest at speedtest.net and note the download / upload speed.

2.4 ghz wireless is a dying technology. only 3 non-overlapping channels so tons of interference from neighbors and other devices. switch to total 5ghz wireless in your home and you'll have a much greater experience.

I cut the cord 4 years ago. Have had pretty much everything. My current solution is best I’ve encountered yet.

Roku on home TVs + YouTube TV.

YouTube Tv is so good I would sound like a salesman for it if I went on any further. FAR and away the best thing I’ve tried. Price and experience. And easily and quickly casts to my rokus.

Amen to that. the unlimited DVR is just amazing. and the thing is, it's always perfect quality because you are not recording what's actually playing on your roku or computer or whatever you are viewing....it's all being recorded by youtube at their datacenters and you are simply having youtube "reserve" a spot for whatever you tell it to reserve for you. shouldn't surprise anyone either...youtube/google is recording everything anyway so recording every second of every TV provider they offer isn't surprising.

I hate paying it, but I'm with you. Spectrum charges like $70 for internet only, then add $40 for something like YoutubeTV and it's just not worth the hassle.

Are you paying a modem rental fee? Could buy one and lower internet bill if so.

Also YouTubeTV, so far, has been a better experience than cable. So, I would say it is worth the hassle.

I think people rightly think they are going to lose something by cutting the cord, but the 3 months I’ve had YouTube TV, I actually find it better, easier and more useful than cable.

The quality destroys what I saw on friends phones at a conference this weekend.

Lots of on demand options as well and apparently they are delving into original content as well.

I should note that we have Netflix and Prime also. But I’m about to cancel Netflix.

We're probably paying the rental since we don't own it. But what could that be, $10? I'll look into it tho, maybe use the free trial for youtube on my Roku and see what it looks like, I'll miss my ID channel tho.

Yep, me and the wife just went to it. Stream it on high speed internet through Apple 4K TV. Love it. Internet, YouTube TV and Netflix and we pay about $110/mo for all of the programming we could want.

I’d guess $10-15 per month. But a good modem costs ~$100 so if you plan on having internet for another 10 months it does make sense long term.

I’m not the frugal one in my household but the cable company and the tax man I loathe paying. $10 less to them is a victory to me.

PS. If you’re a nickel and dimer, add in the after tax & fee rate of your modem rental. Likely another couple bucks.

Yup. exactly. even over cell service on iphone or my Samsung device it's perfect quality. i have netflix and amazon prime as well and of I love both. There are things on netflix just not on anything else and my amazon prime i use all the time for the free 2 day shipping etc etc. the way i look at it is this....it's friggin GOOGLE for God sake. they pretty much own the world so however awesome the quality and offerings are at this moment (which are frigg'n badazz) they are only going to get better over time. google is embeded in our lives so much as it is so if you can't beat them, may as well join what they are developing.

I use digital antenna for CBS/local channels.

Sling for ESPN family + TNT, TBS, Tru + 25 or so additional channels + DVR for $40 a month. *DVR won’t record ESPN channels, but all games are available on demand after they’re over. I use this on my Firestick, Roku.

I also use Netflix and have Kodi for my firestick that’s great for on demand pirated TV shows and movies.

I might give YouTube TV a try this offseason.

Fire stick. basically get anything you can think of for $15 - $20 per month. Love it. When my Directv contract ends in a couple of months, they’re history!

I had Hulu Live and switched to YouTube TV. Better DVR and YouTube TV DVR lets you fast forward through commercials while Hulu did not.

I use YouTube TV and it's been fantastic. I love the free cloud DVR that automatically records every Kentucky game for me. I also like that It comes with 5 accounts to share with family.

Stream quality has been better than the ESPN app. I never get that stupid constantly loading thing or freezes that the WatchESPN app used to give me

I've also tried SlingTV, Hulu Live and PlayStation Vue

Metronet for WI-FI? please explain. no way you are getting 500 megabits/second over wireless. Nothing is impossible but the point to point connection technology for that is not available In any sort of residential circumstance. IE, you won't even get 500 megabits per second across your local wireless devices in your home connected to your wireless router/switch.

ahh yes, very nice. is the company "Metronet" ? i'll have to check that out...not near Lexington but always interested in the developing technologies in the surrounding area. you should do a speed test at speedtest.net and post the results. i'd love to see them. do they limit your monthly bandwidth usage or is it unlimited? Static IP address or are you DHCP?

The Players Klub

$8 a month, 1000 channels - installs on android boxes or fire sticks

what I like about Playstation Vue is I set my DVR to college basketball (or NCAA tournament) and it records (virtually) every basketball game and keeps them for 30 days

Vue has unlimited DVR for 30 days storage. Pretty good deal for $49

No caps, not sure how to tell the difference between static OR DHCP. Speed test came in at 85.7, probably do to modem and router but I've yet to have any buffering or lag watch vudu in UHD with the rest of the family on line. Believe me, it's a big family.

I cut my Spectrum cable. Streaming now and saving money. I recommend all do it
I cut Spectrum too just last month. I get tikilive which gets almost the exact same channels as Spectrum but I save almost 40-50 a month. F**k Spectrum and their monthly price hike BS.

I'm trying SlingTV now on a trial and really like them, especially the price. I don't like that they don't offer local channels so I'll have to get an antenna. Does anybody know if you can somehow DVR local channels? The wife has some shows that come on CBS and ABC and will lose her mind if we can't DVR them.

Sling sucks trust me. Go with YoutubeTv you won’t regret it.

Yall do all of this to save $20 bucks then end up struggling to watch some games. Doesnt seem worth it to me. I could do it in the summer, but not during basketball/football season.

Ummm no.

I pay way less and get way more with youtubetv and using a browser than a stupid dish with 100+ channels of garbage for way more. I also watch from different monitors and everything is way better than traditional TV with a dish. You are missing out on a lot. If you don’t care then it is what it is. Also these options can be paused, so you don’t have to pay if you’re not going to be there.

100% YouTube TV bro. All the sports channels. Unlimited DVR. 2 screens per account no matter the location and up to 5 accounts per 1 subscription. Then get an Amazon firestick and learn how to use Kodi for all the movies. Even the ones in the theater. Just get ya some fast internet and cut those cords.

I'm paying $190 for internet and cable. Internet is like 55 so i'm paying like 135 for cable. I'm done with them, especially after trying streaming because you get a lot more for a lot less. I will be saving around $100/month by switching.

OMG get rid of cable TV. I went with comcast internet only and the 300+ service. it's beyond badazz and like you I save like $100 from ditching their TV service.
