Sling sucked to me because I couldn’t get certain channels. Had to stream the tournament last year.

YoutubeTv is the most amazing setup I’ve ever seen. The way it’s configured is awesome. The movies and sports is great.

I pay 50 bucks for internet which I have to have anyway. Who doesn’t have internet today? So I pay 40 more for YoutubeTv, even if you want to add internet which I don’t because it’s there regardless, that’s 90 bucks. I use my families Hulu and Amazon, so free.

So that’s 90 bucks with way more options per month. My direct Tv would fluctuate between 140-180 per month. I’ll take 40 and And better than 180 and worse.

Happy hunting.

whats the math on this? I pat 200 a month to Comcast for everything they have plus the fastest internet they can get me. which is only about 300 mb/s down. If I cut TV portion, the internet goes up significantly. Then I have to subscribe to The streaming services. Seems like a lot to only save a few bucks. How much are you saving?

I have a $30 antenna that gets me 21 channels and also watch live channels at UStv247.com. You get about 40 live channels there. If you have a smart tv you can screen mirror it to the tv from your phone.

"only 300 mb/s down??" are you serious? that's insane fast. that's faster than like over 80% of people in the country. many times faster than any dsl speed. i'll look at my internet bill with comcast and report back. I have the same 300 mb/s service and it's actually 350.

We cut the cord a few months ago. Get a Roku Ultra and Youtube TV. You can get a few other streaming services (we have Hulu, Netflix and Philo) and it's still half of what we paid before. You won't regret it.

Alright, ya'll convinced me to check it out. My Cable bill is $185 now, internet only will be $70. I'm currently in free trial for Youtube TV $40, and Philo $16 (gives me the channels I was losing thru youtube, like ID and AMC) total, $126, probably more like $130 after tax. $55 a month is worth it, if its good. We shall see.

You will love it! and can't you watch every episode of ID on their website like on delay or after it's broadcasted? Also, AMC is on youtube TV

For some reason, my YouTube TV bill is only $35 per month. Not sure if I got in before a price increase but every time someone says $40, I always check and it's still $35.

Because of TWD AMC does not participate in several of the Hulu-ish services. At least not live. They do show FTWD however.

I’d guess $10-15 per month. But a good modem costs ~$100 so if you plan on having internet for another 10 months it does make sense long term.

I’m not the frugal one in my household but the cable company and the tax man I loathe paying. $10 less to them is a victory to me.

PS. If you’re a nickel and dimer, add in the after tax & fee rate of your modem rental. Likely another couple bucks.

I made this same decision 4 years ago and bought a modem and router from Costco...in spite of the scare tactics by the Comcast internet guys, haven't had a hiccup yet. Imagine how many I could have replaced in 4 years renting them monthly. Your mileage may vary...

I will be switching to YouTube TV next week. I want to try to get my bill down to at least $80 for both cable and internet and that is going to help me tremendously.

It is all driven by what you have to pay for internet without cable.

You get Netflix for 10 or so. You probably already have that anyway.

YouTube TV for 40 or 50 tops. See if the channels you need are all there.

Add it up and see if it is worth it.

If you just need sports for the most part you could get away with just an ESPN subscription and an antenna. Throw a Netflix on and you could be pretty well on top of it.

I get a break on my TV portion (not internet) so it isn't worth it to me in my specific circumstances because I'd lose channels I actually occasionally use to save 11-15 bucks and lose the stupid landline work wants me to have for whatever unknown reason but if things changed I'd switch right away and maybe forget about the phone if anyone ever mentioned it again.

Most people aren't getting that credit though so I'm guessing you could keep 40 or 50 bucks in your pocket without much effort or loss of service even if you add other streaming services to go hog wild.
Possibly more but it sounds like they hit you hard on the internet but surely it wouldnt be much over 100?

200 just sounds crazy. There has to be a way to find decent meat on that big bone and still be content with the content.

I feel like my necessity for a land line keeps me from cutting the cord.
After bundling it with cable/internet I'm not sure the savings is that great.
If you fellas could recommend a cheap alternative to the landline I'd appreciate it

You have to have a copper land line? business line or home? what's a home landline cost these days? $30? I've never understood in this modern age why anyone would need a landline.

I haven’t had a land line phone in, and I’m guessing, like 15+ years.

I guess if cell service is spotty where you live I could see wanting a land line.

I started thinking about unlimited DVR the other day. I told my son that in a few years it would be cool to have every UK game a click away. We enjoy a lot of NBA as well, so I’m glad I get to just hit record for the whole Playoffs and not worry about missing games because of all the kids activities we have during the week (ball practice, gymnastics for daughter, church, etc)

I love the channel as well but honestly, I mean you can watch every episode pretty much anywhere including youtube lol. even on ID's website.
Yeah we watch them ON DEMAND. We love the show Forensic Files, but it doesn't come on IF, but they dont make anymore episodes. Speaking of streaming devices, I watched the old Autopsy show on HBO on YouTube. That one is the OG for me. It use to terrify me as a child.

You know most couples are intiment with love making music, but my wife and I always have ID on lol. We started to realize that, so now, if it is on another channel, we will stop and switch it to ID lol.

I'm stuck with AT&T DSL for internet and they say my 1.29 Mbps is as good as I can get. Whats worse is sometimes it drops to .39 Mbps! I've been fighting with AT&T since 2015 over my poor service and they tell me it is as good as it is going to ever be.

I just cut the cord last month. I did my research and decided to go with YouTubeTV using a Roku Ultra. This has worked perfect. It is about $100 cheaper than I was paying for Directv and I think the quality is better. I have all local channels and sports channels. YouTubeTV is not free, it is still $40 per month.

Also, I saw some posts confusing YouTube with YouTubeTV. Totally different apps. YouTubeTV is nothing like YouTube. It is a streaming television provider service.

We already had Roku Express on our bedroom TV's, just fine for the Spectrum app, and the quality seems fine. Is there a reason to move up to the pricier Roku models for the main TV in the living Room?

hahah...the movie that terrified me as a child was some late 70's movie called "Devil Dog" that I watched as a young kid in the early 80's. I recently downloaded it and just like all films of that era, it's really super stupid. LOL.

If you want 4k, a higher frame rate and a faster experience. plus the latest in surround sound technology.

I want to enjoy Kodi, but every time I try to watch movie it gets so buggy. Freezes up, buffering, buffering, freeze up then reboot itself. That thing hates me!

That plus I don't trust anything that is even close to stealing satellite TV many years ago. if the hammer ever falls I wouldn't want my IP address in Kodi's log files or anything that
