Coaches who were one game away from the Finals in their first year don't tend to be fired 8 games into their second year.
Time will tell who is better in the WNBA but who had better stats in college isn’t a viable arguement.

Millions are Clark fans. Few are WNBA fans or care about any team. If Clark starts to regress the league is going to have a serious revenue problem quickly.

Sandy Brondello led NY to their first championship in franchise history and then they fired her a year later because they lost in the first round.

My point is that job security in pro sports is virtually nonexistent. Deep playoff runs don’t necessarily buy you much grace.

In season firings are also virtually nonexistent in basketball and there's very little precedent for it happening to a coach who overachieved the year prior.
Unless things go off the rails and the Fever are on the verge of missing the playoffs I don't think there's going to be a change.

Not to butt in, but I would agree that in-season firings typically don't happen in the WNBA. Of course they're also just not a seriously-run league to begin with, so you wouldn't expect that to happen.
It's an entirely different matter in the NBA.
I certainly could be wrong, but at least one to two coaches a year are fired in the middle of a season in the NBA for one reason or another, not that it speaks any more positively to the men's professional league, as they have their own problems........

It’s also worth noting that what typically happens or doesn’t happen in the WNBA is irrelevant to the Fever right now because they are not a typical WNBA franchise right now. For nearly 25 years they were little more than a tax write-off for Herb Simon. Now all of a sudden they are an economic juggernaut. They are in uncharted territory and the protocols have changed.

Before Paige's injury, she was very widely regarded as the better player. Had always been the higher ranked prospect. And was the face of the college game.
I don't think it's as clear cut, at this point in their careers. I can certainly see how people might prefer CC. If I had a gun to my head, I'd say PB is better. But that isn't something I've said in this thread until now

I think Sides was better than people gave her credit for. She was learning, but she took a major leap in the second half of the season. Not to mention she was willing to learn and change…White is not- she thinks her way is the only way regardless of the players she has and that does not lead to consistent success.
I get that some of my posts aren't necessarily in line with what's been echoing inside the walls of the ladies room.
But I've explained, in depth, and on more than one occasion, where some of my difference in perspective comes from, and what some of my intentions for posting are.
The overall intent, is to try to give the Hawks their best chance of winning. Rather than take the time to again explain all that, here's one of the short versions...
I hate many sports fans (behavior). It's a sentiment that's well understood, around the world. Sports fans are completely out of line with some of even their base behaviors. Their thoughts are completely irrational. And many of them simply are not well intended. They aren't sports fans at all, as the role of the fan is to support. Many of them follow sports as "haters", rather than fans. Their intent is to tear people down, and root for failure. Whether it comes from jealousy, or insecurity, or problems with authority figures or team settings, it's simply troll behavior.
There are also many more ways that fans behave poorly that it seems everyone but the people on this board are aware of.
And I've told you that I don't appreciate being called something that I'm not. I'm not going to ask you again. So get a life, unless you want to also be called things that you are not

She probably has fewer turnovers per number of times she handles the ball than any other player in the league. If anybody else handled the ball as much as she does and gets defended like her, they would average 10+ turnovers per game. She didn’t handle the ball much last game and only had one turnover, but how did that work out for the team. And calling out her defense on a team with no good defensive players is a little silly. She is not shooting well, but she’s not shooting enough to get in a groove. Shooters have to shoot.

Clark had more points, more assists, more rebounds, and more blocks than Bueckers when they were freshmen. Bueckers had more steals and fewer turnovers. Hell, Clark led the nation in scoring and was second in the nation in assists. And even though Bueckers has always been lauded for her "efficiency," Clark had more points per shot attempt.
But PB played for UConn and CC played for Iowa. ESPN has long been the unofficial marketing department of UConn women's basketball. If PB had stayed home and played for the Gophers and CC had gone to UConn, you can bet ESPN would have been hyping CC more from the beginning.
Did women's college basketball even have a "face" at that time? Keep in mind that when they were freshmen, PB and CC played in empty arenas due to COVID. The most compelling story I recall from that season was when they held the entire NCAA Tournament in San Antonio and one of Oregon's players complained on social media that the women's accommodations were inferior to the men's.
I guess one would have actually read the posts to determine if it's a pissing match or not
