For better or worse, yes. Her crazy assists and bombing 3s from downtown was what drew so much attention in the first place. I don’t know enough basketball to know what’s to blame, but with her shot not falling, people are going to take notice
Over and over again she had Boston or Hines-Allen bringing the ball up the floor. What was that? Several times HA would stop around the three point line , pick up her dribble and have someone strip the ball from her. Ridiculous.
So did that not happen most of her last two seasons at Iowa? Its pretty obvious her first year there were NO fans, (due to covid), but do keep being the literal nit picker. Its funny that your always the one finding some small things to critique when you know darn well her last two years they played to packed houses, and you know what I was saying. Keep being you though....
CC'S JUNIOR SEASON
Iowa sold out ONE home regular season game.
That same season they had 6 home games where they sold less than 10,000 tickets.
They were ranked # 6 when they hosted # 8 Maryland and sold less than 11,000 tickets.
They sold an average of 11,143 tix per game.
Iowa had one of the most exciting players in college basketball history and most fans didn't seem to realize it until she hit the 3 at the end of the Indiana game to end the regular season.
If 1 is going to go it will be White. Clark on the roster is like half of the Fever’s team value. They’d be the biggest idiots in the world to allow her to leave that organization.
FWIW that was the second highest average home attendance in the country, trailing only South Carolina. It also represented an increase of nearly 3000 fans per game from the previous season, which was the second highest increase in the country.
I think it’s fair to say the fans were already starting to catch on to what was happening.
Super. Thanks for the update, on those "pretty packed houses". Just a question, do you EVER add anything here except critique other peoples posts. Frankly your Fran on steroids without the useful information he brings to the group. So basically just an annoyance.

When attendance reaches criticality, the powers that be will have to decide whether to buy more duct tape, or recognize the one who's been asleep at the wheel with Clark and the "Old Guard System", and act.
And, as if that wasn't enough, she's benched Clark in head scratching moments, put Clark on an island somewhere off-ball, and shuffled lineups as though they were on sale at Wal-Mart. Herb Simon won't do anything about this incompetent staff. He, Krauskopf, White, and Dunn are all connected from the past.
She took 7 shots in the last game. That number should be double that. She only played 22 minutes. White has to let her cook. When asked about how she managed Clark, Bluder said famously, "I will not tell a Race Horse, Whoa!" She picked up 5 personals, a couple that were questionable. She picked up 4 personals in the game with GS. For someone who's been accused of getting favorable whistles, why is she not getting those? She and this soup sandwich of a roster is being mismanaged. Plain and simple.
It’s honestly insane right now. Clearly CC is headstrong and not easy to coach. Thats been forever. But this team has no cohesion, no leadership no anything right now. I know it’s only 8 games into the year but the front office has to be asking WTF is going on here. It’s honestly like White is trying to break Clark’s will. Maybe she will. She certainly looks uninterested and unhappy on the court. The whole thing is a circus.

That's precisely what SW is doing. She's trying to break her. She wants to play slow-it-down and feed the bigs old style ball with a thoroughbred. No workie, lol.
CC sat on the bench 19 minutes. Yeah almost half the game. But somehow her D for 21 minutes allowed 100 pts.
Meanwhile KM plays over 1 quarter more than CC.
I think White shoves the clipboard under the blue pad then somebody behind the bench grabs the pad and Timpson picks up the clipboard.
White called out Clark for her lack of good D. There was a heated exchange with SW. "Clark got up. Raven sat down." Then what happened?
As soon as Boston subbed out at 6:30 in the 1st quarter (with the Fever leading 8-4), Gustafson went to work scoring 6 consecutive points in a 45 second span simply by setting picks on Kelsey and then Raven, creating a switch, and rolling to the basket for two "and ones" over undersize guards. Portland never looked back after that run, This is a predictable result of a defensive strategy of automatically switching on every screen.
This continued into the second half where I recall Megan scoring at least another two by posting up Mitchell.
What's scary is that these suicide switches aren't defensive breakdowns. This is what the coaching staff draws up and implements as the Fever's
go-to defense. Amazing.

Correct. It’s one thing if you’ve got long players all over the court like a lot of times in the NBA but even then they don’t switch a guard on Jokic, Wemby, etc. I mean if you can’t defend a basic high pick and roll with the pt guard and Center and think you can switch it you have no idea what you’re doing.

Unlike Sides, White is a legend in Indiana as a prep and college player with a shelf full of POY trophies. She was recently voted WNBA Coach of the Year (2023). Absent a personal scandal, she isn’t getting fired anytime soon.
I would like to see more pick and roll plays with Clark, Clark/Boston PnR is dynamic.

I would have to respectfully disagree with calls to fire White as nonsense. Her coaching "methods" are atrocious. One of the atrocities she's responsible for is your final sentence. She's removed the pick and roll and prefers to swing the ball around the perimeter and get the ball to the bigs instead. As for problems, we're eight games in and this team looks lost, especially on defense. Her rotations are questionable more often than not these days. Known as a "Defensive Guru", we're not seeing a translation of that.
I’ll more critically judge White’s coaching of this year’s team after a substantial portion of the season is completed, probably some time around Labor Day, final judgment after the season. We haven’t even reached the month of June yet. A.500 record in May is not cause to climb a high rise and shout from the window ledge.
There are some obvious problems. Part of coaching is fixing the problems. We’ll see if that can happen over the next couple of months.
Clark, Hull, and Boston subbed out at that moment as you've said. White, in the post-game presser, when asked why she subbed Clark out there at that particular moment, said that that was typically when they've been subbing her out. Not for needed rest, just that it was time for her to sit. SMH.
Fever up 8-4 early. Clark subbed out with Hull and AB. Fire go on an 11-2 run, and then White puts Clark back in. Fever could never recover. Hat's off to Meg.
I’ll go back to my Paul Westhead example…he won a championship, then won 54 games, yet he was fired 11 games into his third season because he didn’t know how to coach Magic Johnson. People called Jerry Buss crazy for firing him, but it turned out to be brilliant. Stephanie didn’t really coach Clark last year so people couldn’t see she’s lost in how to coach CC. I see no reason to think that’s going to change. White even said she wants to go fast when Raven is in the game, not Clark….that’s a level of ignorance that can’t be fixed.
The Fever have a real dilemma with this team. With a mediocre 4-4 record they're obviously under performing big time. Last year with many subs they took Vegas to the brink of elimination in the playoffs. As for CC, she's not going anywhere, and it's not because of her performance. Although it appears her hype is fading somewhat, she still puts butts in the stands and eyeballs on the tube. Let's face it realistically, she hasn't been playing well and there's no way to sugarcoat it. Her shooting percentage is dismal and she's proven to be an increasing liability on defense where more and more players are taking her to the rim. She's tied with Thomas for the league-lead in assists but also leads the league in turnovers. Perhaps a trade would do her good but it just isn't going to happen.
Except she is doing everything in her power to leash Clark, including playing half the game or benching her. There's still the rumor that Clark didn't play in the game because White benched her. Hard to believe until you see some of the things that happened in the last game.

And you don't think her "fit" in Whites system could be part of the reason she's not playing well?
