Yeah I can

K had a similar player in Herro stay 4 years. Spare me your BS. When’s the last time K had a 4 star one and done? Cal’s had 3 of them in the last 4-5 years.
Take some midi and you’ll feel better.
Seriously we all knew this 4 would not be back and we did have a hell of a season.

It’s not on Cal, but what I’m saying is this. Just take it for what it is. We aren’t winning another title with our current roster turnover, and playing second fiddle to Duke in recruiting. I still stand by my original statement. That’s not a knock. That’s just another fact. My opinions are FACT. Jk

Espn has our incoming class ranked #7. You don’t win titles losing OAD players with the 7th best recruiting class coming in. Cal is out trying to get hurt, mcdaniels and whoever else bc he knows next season will be tough.

Knox was a lottery pick. Never expected him to return. We all hoped Cal’s pitch to Tyler would be something like this..

- Focal point of the offense

- Become a lottery pick

- Build your brand

- NPOY or 1st team all-american

- Win a national title

But alas, he gone.

- Risk injury
- Risk hurting your stock and playing your way out of a guaranteed contract
- Have to go to class every day

It's really easy for us to sit at a computer and argue why someone should go back to school for another year. Little different when it's you or your kid who are about to become multi-millionaires.

Welp, there’s nothing certain about next year.

Wish I could be like some of you and have complete faith in incoming freshmen.

We honestly have no clue now. And Maxey better be a stud. I’ll leave it at that.
Guess what..... it’s never certain!

I said we all hoped that was Cal’s pitch. And you know what? I bet it was. But Cal didn’t make the decision, Tyler did.

You know, that "**** team" was a 23 win Top 20 team this year and is one of the winningest programs in all of college basketball over the last couple decades. Not sure why our fans feel such a need to run down EVERY program that's not us. Makes us look really petty and insecure.

But you are correct that Tyler probably would not be leaving after only one season if he'd gone to Wisconsin. Although I'm not sure that's a good thing.
Sorry, idgaf about Wisconsin. I speak for 99.% of U.K. fans when I say that. I couldn’t care less if it makes myself or any other U.K. fan insecure. We were screwed on some bad missed calls including a pivotal shot clock that of course was missed by Higgins.

Sometimes I wonder if people have forgotten what it was like to be a Kentucky fan back in the mid-to-late Tubby days and all of BCG debacle.

I would love to have some of these kids come back, it would make us a better and stronger team. But let's not forget we have Hagans, Quickley, Montgomery, Richards, and Baker all scheduled to come back. Even if we lose one of those to a transfer we still have a ton of talent coming back, more than in most years. That combined with a stellar incoming class, we should be really good next year.

There's no reason to bemoan Tyler chasing his NBA dream. Just be happy for the kid and continue to cheer for Kentucky. It's not that difficult to do.

I'm afraid an Elite 8 is going to be considered a great year going forward. Recruiting isn't at the level it once was and yet we still lose players non stop like it is. His first 6 years he damn near averaged a Final Four. The next 4 about a Sweet Sixteen.

More and more people are going to stop propping Coach Cal up for what he did when he first got here if something doesn't start changing. He has to figure out a way to get these players to come back or get more out of them in their short time here. You can't keep nearly rebuilding the whole team every year and expect the results to get better with equal or lesser talent than what we have leave.

He is adapting. Grad transfers are part of his recruiting now.

Stop watching. It makes you miserable. Genuinely concerned for you my friend. You rarely (if ever?) seem to find any enjoyment whatsoever in UK basketball.

Isn’t it exhausting constantly taking a hobby of yours (UK basketball) and turning it into a constant thing to cry and complain about?

In the past 60 years has Kentucky had even a fraction of the NBA talent they have had for the past 10 years?
As someone who is often critical of Cal, this isn’t really fair in the one and done environment. I think Irish’s point is that all UK coaches have developed a knack for pissing away title opportunities.

I’m a math guy, so I know that if Cal sticks around 10 more years and continues to put together teams like he has from 2016-2019, he likely gets one more ring.

Odds aren’t as good as they were when he was bringing in John Wall and Anthony Davis, but they are still in Cal’s favor.

Now he could be Izzo and never get another one, or he could catch a break like Jay Wright/Billy D. But more than likely, it falls in place at least once over the next decade.

I know it isn’t what people hoped for when he arrived, but it’s reality in the current recruiting climate. Cal is adjusting best he can, and doing a pretty good job for my money.

I know some of you like to rail about how he will never win another on. I get the pessimism. Year to year, it’s a safe bet. Even the best teams are only about 20% to win it most of the time.

But pile up enough of those 5 - 20% odds and eventually, almost inevitably, you break through.

Compute this. Cal is bringing in less talent. Instead of top tens now he’s losing late first rounders to the draft. He is still dependent upon OAD yet the trend since 2016 has been less talent each season. Things are not tending in cals favor to win another natty idk how you can conclude that. Jay Wright and billy D had guys stick around. That’s not cals mo. Unless he significantly changes he’s not winning another one. It took 3 super teams for him to get one.

Now if cal starts recruiting 2-3 grad transfers a year that will change the calculus but as it stands with his current trend it is going the wrong direction.

Cal ain’t winning another title here. We’ll field good teams, but he ain’t winning a title playing second fiddle to Duke in recruiting and managing the exact same roster turnover.

I’ll take your money if you want to bet on that.

This is what pisses me off. If he goes to Wisconsin then UW gets 3-4 years of him putting up big numbers and he probably ends up around a 2,000 point scorer. But instead he comes here and all of a sudden there’s a magical nba wand sticking out of his *** that makes him leave after one year putting up pretty good points but on very average at best shooting percentages.

You need to learn how to read kid. I never once said I knew what he was being told.
It’s in your first quoted post. You’re suggesting he’s leaving based on “very average shooting percentages” when instead he’s been informed by NBA scouts that regardless of his “suspect” shooting (as you put it) his skill set is needed in today’s NBA. You need to learn how to convey yourself a little better “kid”.

We will have the best team in the country when the season starts.

I hope he adapts the hell out of it.
I’m obviously for it. It remains to be seen whether Blackshear has any interest in UK but there is no doubt UK should be preseason number one with him. I don’t care who Michigan State is returning.

Unfortunately grad transfers aren't much better than one and done players. Still one and done for us. At least they bring some experience but they have to learn a new offense/defense in a short time just like the one and dones. Hopefully that experience ends up outweighing the ability level of the younger recruits.

It's funny how EVERY SINGLE off season the one and done boo birds squawk about of the demise of the UK basketball program. Then March rolls around and we pretty much have as good a chance as anyone to win the whole thing. Makes a lot of sense....not.

Recruiting more multi year players only works if they have that expectation. If they all think they will be OAD then there will be discord
UK has 3 McDonald’s AAs returning next year, plus Hagans. Cant really ask for more.

I don’t sense any discord. If the Cats don’t contend next year then it will be because the frosh aren’t good enough, that there isn’t a true stud or two among them.

It’s clear that he can’t read.
I read perfectly fine and it’s readily apparent you and your buddy are triggered because a 19 year old kid (as well as many others in the past and there will be in the future) made a life decision. Get over it.

I'm shocked so many people are so negative and screaming about the sky is falling. Like we didn't expect this, every report for months has been they are probably leaving. Wait, I'm not shocked at all. This board is the pit of despair at all times.
I think it is because most thought IF he or KJ stayed (after PJ) we would be serious title contention...know its back to same **** different season

I'm never going to fault a kid gong Top 20 in the NBA draft. Wish he would have come back and dominated, but I get it. Shai and now Herro. If this doesn't speak volumes to recruits I don't know what will, except money. Wish him the best. Enjoyed watching him and glad him came to UK.

Anyone who thought otherwise was fooling themselves. Lol

You're right. I don't expect any of them to come back anymore. I'm shocked we got IQ and Hagans back actually.

The system is broken and it's because it's broken that we'll likely never feature another super team at Kentucky.
