People using Duke as an example when they had 2 one and done guys go in the second round. 1 one and done guy to undrafted in the past 3 years .

Zay, Tyler went here for a reason and not Wisconsin. And its the exact thing you mentioned- a chance at a big early payday.
Exactly kid is a top 20 pick. Dumb as hell to come back UK is a top 2 team as long as we can add another big . Doesn't have to be all world just good. We have by far the best back court in the land since we got the stud we needed back in Hagans.
Super happy for these guys chasing their dreams but we gotta get top five guys to help make up for it. Either that or recruit every grad transfer available.
I’ll give you that. I was way off on Newman v Murray. Would have never thought their careers would turn out like they have after seeing them play in high school.
But I’m pretty confident in my argument that Cal won’t win another title here.
He’s letting the families make the decisions like he has from day 1. That’s not a knock, that’s just a fact.

Are you an NBA scout? Nope, so stop acting like you know what the scouts have told him. Cal’s been here for 10 years and this happens every year and posters like you get all upset like it’s never happened before.
You know, that "**** team" was a 23 win Top 20 team this year and is one of the winningest programs in all of college basketball over the last couple decades. Not sure why our fans feel such a need to run down EVERY program that's not us. Makes us look really petty and insecure.
But you are correct that Tyler probably would not be leaving after only one season if he'd gone to Wisconsin. Although I'm not sure that's a good thing.

That is correct. And ultimately the family and the kid are going to do what they see is best whether Cal agrees with it or not. Cal told Dakari to come back for instance. He didn’t. That isn’t on Cal. For the most part under Cal I feel like the guys who leave early make the right decisions
When did I say these kids owed me anything? It’s the butt-hurt crew out in full force. Can’t ever say anything negative without them going ape ****. I made a pretty informative statement. It’s my opinion, and it’s a pretty good one backed with some basic fundamental knowledge. At no time did I bash any kid or Cal.
I get the frustration. I really do but people need to remember we have EIGHT titles in nearly a CENTURY of playing basketball
The same people clamoring for more experienced players are the same ones who will be shitting on Nick Richards, Quickley, Baker next season for not being good enough. That's just the nature of the beast that is college basketball in 2018. Kids are desperate to get out of it.

It’s not on Cal, but what I’m saying is this. Just take it for what it is. We aren’t winning another title with our current roster turnover, and playing second fiddle to Duke in recruiting. They had some grad transfers. My one exception was that if Cal could master that, then I’d change my tune.
I don’t get the gloom and doom.

People are dumb. Every rational person has known for months that Tyler was gone, but there are a handful of people here that just kick the can emotionally by staying in denial until the hammer drops.

Maybe you didn’t watch when Reid Travis played. He had significant minutes.
He is a 4 star, so will be close. Memphis get's RJ Hampton and they are likely #1. Zona is currently 1, not sure if they will stay ahead of Duke or not.
Carey, Moore and Hurt are the only 3 that will be likely be impact guys this year as freshman. Then you add in Tre Jones a pretty worthless bench. That is just not intimidating at all. Their last 3 teams would have murderes this current group and none of them made it to a FF. Color me unimpressed.
And then there are the rational posters like me that aren’t mad and give an honest opinion.
I’m a math guy, so I know that if Cal sticks around 10 more years and continues to put together teams like he has from 2016-2019, he likely gets one more ring.
Odds aren’t as good as they were when he was bringing in John Wall and Anthony Davis, but they are still in Cal’s favor.
Now he could be Izzo and never get another one, or he could catch a break like Jay Wright/Billy D. But more than likely, it falls in place at least once over the next decade.

Every post you’ve made in this thread has the undertone that 3 and 4 star kids have no business chasing their dreams but instead need to come back and be part of the foundation for a title. You even said this “depresses the ****” out of you. If your mental well being is contingent on a 19 year old kid’s life decision, then you probably should stop following UK basketball because it’s gonna continue to be like this.
Knox was a lottery pick. Never expected him to return. We all hoped Cal’s pitch to Tyler would be something like this..
- Focal point of the offense
- Become a lottery pick
- Build your brand
- NPOY or 1st team all-american
- Win a national title
But alas, he gone.
Why cheer if you don’t have hope. Look what having the top two picks got Duke the last two years.
You need to learn how to read kid. I never once said I knew what he was being told.
Yeah, tape him in the cellar. Don’t feed him until he signs scholarship papers. Don’t release him until after the draft. You know, the usual.
