Should this high school coach have been fired ?

you fire that guy. Kicking a football into a kids nuts is that moment where you need to take a hard look in the mirror and decide if this is your correct career path.

I'm all about old school tough, but there is no excuse for that

I doubt he was aiming at the kids nutt ( at that age left ain’t dropped yet). He just kicked the ball out of frustration. Not trying to hit or injur anyone. Big nothing burger in my old man opinion

The question though is should he have been fired ?

1) a leather air filled sack is not a deadly weapon

2) he could not have kicked the ball in anger and hit the kid in the groin if you gave him 1000 more tries, so I doubt that was his intention

it is wrong behavior and he should get chewed out by the AD and have to apologize to the kid and team, i Agree.

i played HS football in the 80s and this was common place coach goes nuts behavior. I ran a wrong pass pattern, a curl, and our 250 pound HC went nuts and when I wasn’t looking threw me to the ground. I had a helmet and pads on, was surprised but not upset. We laughed about it later. I never even considered telling my parents or filing a complaint.

Hah...I got put in the circle when the coach thought I was not aggressive enough as nose tackle. I went against him.
