You haven't looked hard:sunglasses:That's the stupidest thing I've read all day
You are correct recruiting like that you could make the tournament a lot of teams do but making the tournament here will get you fired you have to have a good chance to win it just read some of the posts in this thread , hell apparently we've never had a coach that could make a lot of these people happy.IKC, there are a lot of teams that don't recruit all players that leave in one year and still make the Tournament. If a player is a First round pick, maybe he should go, but if he's a 2nd round pick, it might be better to stay another year. Don't you think Briscoe did the right thing, by coming back?
OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!
So where are the 3 and 4 star recruits that are playing for Duke? What about all the 300 other colleges that have all those 3 and 4 star recruits. How many titles have they won? How many final fours have they made in the last 7 years. So let's go back to recruiting like Billy G and maybe we can make the NIT once in a while. I like the idea of knowing that every year we are in the discussion with a chance to make a final four. Name one coach that has a better record of making final fours in the last seven years. You can't because there is none. You are just jealous because your team does not have the record in the last seven years that UK has. Good luck trying to sell your lemonade.Let's see, in the seven years Coach Cal has been here, U Conn has won 2 NC's, Duke has won 2 NC's, Nova has won 1 NC, Loserville has won 1 NC, and UK has won 1 NC.
UK has had the No. 1 recruiting class all 7 years according to Scout, and 6 of the 7 according to Rivals.
Pointing out the facts, DOES NOT mean I want to get rid of Coach Cal, as some on here will start posting. It would be nice to recruit some high 4's who would stay more then one year to go with our "One and Done."
OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!
The problem isn't the recruiting it's not being able to keep guys around who have no business putting their names in the draft
No business being in the draft says who?
Napier was a senior in 2014
We have 3 seniors on this years team. Darius Miller was a senior. You act like we haven't had them.My bad! I didn't know a team could win with a Senior on their team.
OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!
Cal clearly tells them to stay if he thinks they aren't ready. It's their decision and a free country. The stigma on "being left behind" weighs heavily on some
"not ready yet" 1st/2nd year players.
Some like Teague and D.Johnson (IMO) could have helped
both UK and themselves with another year in college,
They can of course. It just doesn't fit their agenda to say so.I'm just trying to figure out how one wouldn't know the names of our OAD guys, or remember their names after they leave?
Hindsight is 20/20 but I would have rather had Swanigan than Skal as it turns out. Not every player is going to turnout like we think though.I'd like to see Cal bring in a couple 3-4 year guys that are very good college players that the NBA is not crazy about..someone like an undersized 5 like Meeks at UNC or the Purdue kid..maybe an Allen at Duke ..someone that has a flaw ..I'm just not sure we can win a title with 5 freshman each year..Next year will be younger than this one.
Plenty of outstanding 3 & 4 stars playing college and in the NBA. Turn on your tvYeah I'm sure they're some elite 3-4 stars out there. :flush:
All opposing fans wish this.Love Kentucky basketball and was so happy when Cal came to coach. I still admire him but wish we could change the recruiting. Would love to see players stay so that we, the fans, could feel a real kinship with them...our boys, so to speak. I miss those days when we knew the guys and looked forward to seeing them back the next year.
Whatever his paycheck is, it's a bargain. Now Pimptino on the other hand, who has one legit final four and no noncheating titles in 16 years at UL, has been severely overpaid.
It's the market. And his monetary value and return to UK far exceeds his salary. Can't agree with you on this. 8 million plus dollars A YEAR to coach any sport is just wrong. I know he can get it and don't blame him for getting as much as he can but no human on this planet is truly worth 8 mil a year. Rip me if you like but I stand by my comment.
well you might have got me. No business maybe wasn't the best phrase. Our guys who have left to play D league or overseas are still making more than an average American could hope for. For now.No business being in the draft says who?
Not really, I am not basing this on talent but play. Right now this team has no identity nor guts on defense. I think in a one game winner take all right now this team would lose to said squad.I will assume this is sarcasm.
Cal knows almost all the guys he brings in are OAD....I'd like a few mixed in that have an NBA flaw, maybe undersized,,too heavy,,something that the NBA doesn't like, but are good 3-4 year starters.I thought we had our 4 year PG in 5'7 Ulis

"If you're old school and you've been following college basketball and you liked it as kids staying in school four years, and all that, then you'd probably say this has ruined what my game used to look like. Well the world has changed. It's changed in the NBA, it's changed in Europe, the game has changed the world has changed,"
We will have a better chance than Memphis. Tubby Smith was great about bringing in 3-4 year guys. You saw where that got us. Let's just see which team goes farther this year.I'd like to see Cal bring in a couple 3-4 year guys that are very good college players that the NBA is not crazy about..someone like an undersized 5 like Meeks at UNC or the Purdue kid..maybe an Allen at Duke ..someone that has a flaw ..I'm just not sure we can win a title with 5 freshman each year..Next year will be younger than this one.

I hate to say it but that team you just mentioned would most likely beat this years team. Just my opinion.
Better than watching talented immature players for one season
