New Uniforms this year?

They're not different enough. We could add grey or black or something. When someone walks by a TV screen, they should be able to say "Look, Rutgers is playing". Now it's just like "Oh there's a red team playing, I wonder who it is, Wisconsin or Nebraska? Different fonts isn't going to cut it.
We have a pretty distinctive helmet. It's not even the same color as Nebraska and Wisconsin.
They should go with the red helmet only for that reason.
The jerseys say “RUTGERS” on the front. And if they’re looking from the side they’ll see the big block “R” on the helmet.
Because. We have to be as plain and unrecognizable as possible to be good. Duh .

But if we’re going to do a stripe thing like @zappaa suggests let’s do it like this with our red helmet where the orange is our red and the green is black...
Block numbers and some simple but classic and noticeable striping.

We really need an update .the current unis are just mehhhhhhh times 10.

But... if I were going to care, I'd want us to adopt uniforms where the helmet, cleats, socks, pants, jerseys, face-masks, gloves, athletic tape, pads, Gatorade coolers, golf carts, and artificial turf were all pure matte black w/a very few red highlights and white jersey numbers.

Well it's pretty clear from the linked article about the new Adidas unis that we will be getting them this year. NO idea if the design (colors, fonts, etc.) are changing though.
I'd go for this except no red highlights and matte black jersey numbers. See how the announcers like dem apples.
I could live with that. I think we'd need to adjust to make the league/refs happy and allow them to distinguish which players were which. So we might have to use really dark grey numbering.
I mean, I didn't like it when we had grey numbering on Scarlet-ish jerseys which couldn't be easily read from most stadium seating. But that was accidental. This would be purposeful as well as even more minimalist with even more attitude.
Would be totally bad ***. We could drop the whole Scarlet Knight thing and rebrand as the Black Cloud. It would have a nod towards tech, what with everything moving to the cloud. It would have a nod towards the RU screw (the bad luck known as being under a black loud). It would be a nod towards intimidation of our opposition, what with the reference to ammunition.

Even then I think they are still easy to tell apart since we still don't have a stripe...Lets all sing the alphabet song. LOL

Not a plain black stripe but more like the one Marco wore in this thread is fine by me.
That's because you can't get this version out of your head when we mention stripes....

I got it. Let's have something really different, this can be the new uniforms no one will mistake us for anyone else:
I’ve convinced myself that we lost to Eastern Michigan because their uni’s looked tough and ours looks sissy red next to them. Silly, but that was my feeling from the seats.

I agree. Going all black probably won't get approved, but at least add a lot of black. If not black, then dark grey and bring back the chrome helmets.
As long as I can read the numbers, and tell that it's our team, I'm fine. I understand that recruits care about the look of the uniform, and I'm willing to have anything within reason that attracts recruits.
