How did he fail? Because he couldn’t win a national championship? I think his time here was largely a success. Personally, I wish he would have been given more time with this new playoff expansion and larger NIL budget Campbell is now getting. Failure is never a word I’d use for him.
He failed when given the OC and DC he wanted plus what he said was the best roster he ever had.
He went all in and, just like poker, we you go all in without the right hand you're going to fail.
His overall tenure was solid, like Richt, but the only goal is to win a National Title--he couldn't do that. Hopefully he does well at Virginia Tech but I'm confident he won't win a title there either
He'll never have a better draw than he did in 2024. Actually, no coach ever will

I don’t think he said that was the best roster he had. I think he said the deepest he’s had. I do remember him admitting recently that he could have handled the championship or bust pressure differently. He admitted he went away from the 1-0 mentality and was focusing too much on the end result. I agree that’s on him, but I don’t think that warranted him being fired. I don’t think you can guarantee that he will never win a title there. I hope he does very well there too.

It absolutely warranted him being fired
He didn't have to win a title to keep his job. He just had to beat the teams he was supposed to beat and he failed. The UCLA loss was the worst of his career and I didn't even want him fired then. When we lost to Northwestern and he got Allar injured running a ridiculous offense not catered to him that's when Franklin was done. He accomplished all he could here. Both sides needed to move on. Period.

He failed in 2025 and deserved to be fired. I don't see any valid argument against that.
