Why isn’t cal getting the top players like kuminga anymore? 2012 comes to mind and I wonder if cal has lost his touch in getting the wing players.

Can’t read? I said “like Kuminga.” Cal gets the guards but we don’t seem to get the ADs or MKGs anymore.
to be fair there has not been an AD since AD coming out of H.S.

Cal never had much of a "touch" when it came to landing elite wing forwards. To be sure, he's landed Knox, Poythress, Boston, Whitney, MKG, Keldon Johnson, and Vanderbilt but missed out on about three times that number: Oubre, Williamson, Wiggins, Jaylen Brown, Barton, Bridges, Tatum, Ingram, Reddish, Barrett, Muhammad, Isaac, McDaniels, Henry, Winslow, Stanley Johnson, Johnson, Tobias Harris, Parker, Griffin, Aaron Gordon.
When Duke's involved, as they are with Kuminga, we do even worse and have only beaten them for Boston, Knox and Poythress when it to comes to mutually offered top 10 wing forwards; whereas they've beaten us for Zion, Tatum, Ingram, Reddish, Barrett, Winslow, Johnson, Parker, and Griffin.
It used to be that elite wing players is what we struggled to land now it seems thats turned to bigs and thats super confusing to me and to a lot of UK fans everywhere because for one we havent had much success with wings(sans Booker and Herro) as far as the nba goes and have big men all over the league doing damage.
UK still gets its bigs (Bam, Travis, Richards, Jackson, Montgomery, Skal). It's just that there aren't many elite bigs in each class to go around.
We're also still landing elite wing guards (Monk, Murray, Herro, Johnson, Clarke, Maxey).
We're just not landing many elite wing forwards, and never really have had much success at landing them here under Calipari for some reason. Duke typically locks up these guys. It's why I don't think we beat them for Kuminga once the dust settles.
Kuminga is a wing just like the other two- although more a 3/4 than a 2/3.
In fairness to Cal a lot of those guys got paid so at least we aren’t cheating
Probably doesn't mean much but Kuminga isn't following Texas tech nor lsu whom most consider those 2 his top choice but he's following Kentucky's b-ball page & coach cal I believe...
Completely hypothetical. If we did somehow land Kuminga, what position does everybody think he would play. Maybe the 3? Gotta think we'd see a combination of Keion/Ware and Jackson at the 4.
Would Cal go with Clarke Boston Kuminga Brooks and Haarms(if we get him) or Jackson? In that scenario Clarke Boston and Kuminga are certainly starters. We don't have either Haarms or Kuminga but we could get both or neither.

I agree on your point with elite wing guards, I was speaking toward forwards but we are doing fine in the wing category now. I still stand by my elite bigs comment compared to what we were landing 2015 and prior. We have missed on a whole mess of em we were going after, it just doesnt add up considering all the success that UK has shown with big men.
Kuminga is not coming, but I’ll play along. He probably plays the 3 with Brooks at the 4, but they would be interchangeable.

Although I’d enjoy a lineup with both Brooks and Kuminga at 4/5 where we switch everything and are terrors offensively.
True I could throw several names out and say see I told you so the others changed their mind at the last minute... BUT we had them coming.

Perhaps; but the foundation is there for JK to leap frog the likes of Mashburn, Prince, MKG, Mercer, and Knox when it comes to instant impact (read those last two words slowly for you would-be contrarians) at Kentucky and overall NBA career.

I think if there was anything to this noise with Kuminga some of it would be leaking other than vague rumors.
Kuminga will not be better than Antione Walker. But, I would love for him to come here and try to be.
