Do you not have kids? It’s easy for us to say we wouldn’t post such things. But if I have a million nerds talking **** about my kid online then I bet I say something too.

I will not cast a stone at that man
I don’t have a problem with him taking. I would talk crap if someone said something to my son. I also would encourage him to play if he was able.

I would also encourage my son to play if able. But you and I do not know if JQ is able to play. I don’t know anything about his knee and neither does anyone here. Our fans are entitled pricks most of the time when it comes to these injuries

I don’t have a clue but I have an opinion and I think he could give us 7-10 minutes a game instead of Garrison. That’s not attacking the guy. He does play for the University of Kentucky and is making a lot of money. Not a kid. Signed up for this.

I don’t see how many fans having the same opinion is being a prick but I get some may have actually attacked the guys twitter or something.

my reasoning for that is I haven’t heard him say two words since he began sitting out for swelling. He’s still a part of the team right? Naaaaa he’s sitting till the draft. Sorry not sorry.

Hurt or not his dad has done him no favors.
I couldn’t imagine having a son who’s making money playing at UK, allowed to sit and catered to, headed to the NBA most likely and this is what you do? Does he not understand JQ is not good enough to offset potential issues NBA organizations see in the situation? I don’t think his dad can kill his stock, but he can hurt it with some clubs for sure. Seems like he raised a good kid, I think JQ is a nice guy and seems to be a good teammate. But he’s just giving odd vibes. Some of this stuff isn’t necessary and reflects bad on their family. Just be grateful and ignore people and enjoy these opportunities. What I disservice to you own son.

If they have any integrity, JQ will come back to UK, since UK funded his rehab with $3 million.
I will always believe they saw a soft target in Pope and just exploited it. Pope was just in awe a future NBA pick finally said yes and took what he could. Having no idea it was just a way to bleed him use him and roll out.

A father?
Very, very few fathers do this kind of thing for a reason. It reflects poorly on his son, and most fathers in that position teach their kid to talk on the court not in public. They are public figures, he’s got NBA aspirations. What in the world I couldn’t imagine coming at common fans, writers, coaches etc when my son is learning from me how to handle it. That’s what a real father does

On the one hand of course he's right, JQ is only 18, and he's taking a lot of criticism for an 18 year old. On the other hand he made more money on a per-game-played basis this season than I will probably ever make in a year in my life lol. That kind of money comes with some pressure. If they had it their way he would be playing in the NBA this season, would JQ's dad tell Hawks fans they can't criticize his son? The situations aren't that different.

I doubt that. Most of our posts here are likely not known by these parents. However, Twitter UK fans make us all look like maniacs. And yes, parents see those.
I’m active on X. Kentucky doesn’t come close to the worst. If they’re on X, they’re going to think UK fans are tame compared to Tennessee fans, Auburn, Alabama, Texas, man these fanbases are insane. If they watch TV, they can see Tennessee fans throwing things at those own players, acting absolute fools on live TV. Auburn fans shew. Tennessee fans are the bottom of the barrel, they’re having no issues recruiting. Fanbases are part of the process. It’s not going to carry weight

not to mention, college fanbases aren’t close to the pros. If you can’t handle comments from fanbases, enterprise rent a car is an option.

Well the vast, vast majority don’t. And no I wouldn’t. I teach my son to let his game talk and ignore haters and everything else. If you’re focusing on that, you’re not focusing on the right thing. And I would teach him that by my actions, which, that’s exactly what most parents do. Tom Brady has spoke to this while he was at Michigan, his father told him to give them a show and shut up. Ignore it and focus on your game. So this idea parents need to insert themselves I don’t know when this started becoming wise to some but it’s not at all.

Have ZERO issues for the man replying to detractors but his wanting to fight posts are just juvenile.

What is sad to me is his dad giving the impression that he and only he will decide JQs future.

Maybe his dad reads RR threads. There are about 100 threads where people go at him directly.

Can't be though...players and recruits don't read all the unfair crap that gets said by some folks here...there's a whole thread about it just being Popes fault
So the family has thin skin? Gotcha

Interesting reading some of these remarks. Before the season started so many on here talked glowingly about JQ and how good he will be once healthy.
Hecus not yet healthy so now the narrative turns to how he quit on the team.

I don’t understand and I’ll just repeat it because it seems many didn’t catch it. His dad sounded off right at the time, directly at the time, he sat. His dad went off about how he was being handled by the staff, JQ was playing horribly, and then bam he goes to the bench with “swelling”. I realize correlation didn’t always equal causation, but it is a necessary ingredient in causation too. And with this much money on the line and his stock declining, his dad’s comments, then to the bench? Hard to believe you wouldn’t at least see where the issue is coming in.

All I know is if his knee is really this bad off and still swelling after all this rest with no on court work he probably needs another surgery to clean something up. We will see very shortly if that’s the case or not with the combine coming up. That will tell a huge story to me.

Believe it or not, every future parent has said, "If I did" and when they did a LOT changed. It happens. Best wishes for the future if you ever do become a parent. Life will never be the same again!
That’s what my better half tells me 👍

All the fanbases finish second in the crazy department to soccer fans outside of the US. They literally murder people, shoot pyrotechnics and start bonfires in the crowd, try to blind goalies with high powered laser pointers.

From our AI overlords:

Craziest soccer fan behavior ranges from violent stadium riots, such as the 2012 Port Said incident in Egypt (74 deaths) and the 2001 Accra Sports Stadium disaster (127 deaths), to extreme, disruptive protests, including a fan zipping their neck to a goalpost. Other acts include throwing flares, using laser pointers, and organized hooliganism.

Extreme and Violent Behaviors
  • Stadium Riots and Disasters: In 2012, Egypt saw 74 fans killed when supporters stormed the field, attacked rivals with weapons, and triggered a stampede. Similarly, a 2001 Ghana match resulted in 127 deaths after police fired tear gas at fans throwing missiles, leading to a stampede.
  • Hooliganism and Arson: Wikipedia reports instances of fans setting stadiums on fire, such as Grêmio hooligans targeting the Estádio Beira-Rio in 2006.
  • Targeting Players: Supporters have used dangerous methods to disrupt games, including throwing flares onto the pitch during an Ajax-Feyenoord match and shining high-powered laser pointers at goalkeepers.
Extreme Protests and Disruptions
  • Goalpost Attachment: A fan famously attached himself to a goalpost using a zip tie around his neck to protest, causing a significant delay during a 2012 Everton match.
  • Field Invasions: Pitch invasions are common, often resulting in bans, such as a Leeds fan arrested for running onto the field against Newcastle.
Regional "Ultra" Culture
  • Argentina's Barras Bravas: These groups, similar to ultras, exercise immense control, sometimes managing ticket sales and engaging in violent internal conflicts for financial gain.
  • European Firm Culture: Hooligan firms often engage in pre-arranged fights and are known for extreme, sometimes ideological (Neo-Nazi), behavior.
Notorious Incidents
  • 2003 Wroclaw Riot: An arranged fight involving knives, clubs, and cleavers between Polish club hooligans.
  • Fan Toxicity: Certain, smaller English clubs have reputations for having "rough" hooligan firms, according to former hooligans, as highlighted by SPORTbible

If Kentucky fans were that crazy, Mitch would’ve had to renege on the Pope hire.

Kentucky fans are mostly pathetic compared to other fanbases. We aren’t as serious about basketball as some fans try to make is out to be, especially considering how long out program has been allowed to be mediocre.

I can't give any names but my best friend's daughter is an outstanding BB player and was at the game yesterday with her family who are avid UK fans. She is being recruited by a number of major programs but UK women's staff aren't really recruiting her yet because she is, I believe, a junior. It appears that if UK offers, she will accept as UK is her dream school. From everything I've been told and seen in a few clips, she will be a valuable addition to any major college roster.

JQ’S dad seeing his son NBA draft dropping , is trying to clear his son image. Understandable but in my mind , this is a situation where less is more…..

he is actually doing more damage then helping,,,,,first he goes after coaching staff ,,,,then after the fan base….even if he would be right , those are very bad moves that will not look good for any NBA GM. You want your son to look coachable, hardworking and humble and drama free…..

Question to my fellow RR posters, in the very unlikely event that JQ returns to college , would you want him back at UK?
He was actually going after the worst 1% of our fanbase that never shuts up and does way more harm than good. The other 99
% of us have to pay for their stupid actions.
