Another West Coaster.since he outright says he wants to be OAD and UK has a blueprint for it, so come next yr this time we all know that's what he came to UK to do. Regardless of season, as long as he plays, he will declare. Imo. Of course he would after being a part of number 9

If EJ is back you don't think EJ at the 4 and Brooks at the 3? Suppose Maxey and Quickley most of the minutes at the two. Could see Jang spelling Brooks so we have offense on the floor all the time. But Jang looks good on film, scoring from different spots, hitting the boards and his shot release looks true so Cal doesn't have to teach him how to shoot.

If we add Juzang I see him competing with Whitney for the starting spot at the 3. I see Juzang ending up being the backup 3 with Whitney starting.

I think Brooks plays mostly at the 4 with Montgomery at the 5, unless we add another big.

Of course, I thought Herro would be a backup this past year behind the Sophomore Green, so what do I know? LOL!

Either way, he would be a nice get for us.
If EJ and Nick come back
Then we land blackshear with sestina,Brooks
Whitney, Maxey, Hagans, quick and maybe this juzang kid. That's a loaded roster

A front line of Blackshear, Sestina and Brooks would probably be the best front line in college. Then a guy like Maxey out front to keep the D honest. Two experienced bigs in Montgomery and Richards. A guy like Juang that is a for real shooter. We would have all the pieces with the most experience we have had in years.
This is best case scenario of course. No one could complain about that lol!

Edit** Except The rest of college BB! Haha

Are we thinking about signing with Adidas or something? we went 30 years without an adidas kid and suddenly the last few years we are not only recruiting adidas kids.. we are landing several. just strange.
“Strange days, indeed! Most peculiar Momma, Roll!!!

I just went out and looked at the Crystal Ball Prediction for Johnny Juzang and it had Stanford and Kentucky at 50% each. I didn't see Kansas on the one that I looked at today. Juzang being 6'7 can play both the 2 and 3 and get minutes at both backing up Whitney and Maxey. We need to get Juzang and then bring in a big man like Blackshear and we will be set for a Final Four run and possible National Championship.
Yeah I wondering what he was talking about here it is again I saw the same thing UK and Stanford both 50%.

Whitney is 6’6 and will not be playing the 4. If we get KB, EJ and Sestina will play the PF spot and the rest will take the 2 and 3 slots.

I don't see us getting Blackshear and Richards/EJ to come back. One of them won't be here next season.
But where are they going to go?

EJ fancies himself an NBA player, and he'll be second in line for minutes at the 4/5 for us next year behind Blackshear. He'd be stupid to go undrafted, and even dumber to transfer and sit.

Nick is already 21 years old. He'd go undrafted, and sitting a year, then playing a year, puts him at 23 entering the draft. Big red flag.

Blackshear would play over any big on the roster, and over all but 3-4 in the country. So them coming back won't affect him.

It's easy to assume players won't be here, but they have to actually go somewhere that's better. I guess maybe EJ stays in the draft if he thinks we're getting Blackshear, but those two would play together, not steal minutes.

I had a feeling Green would transfer.. he just did it a little later than I anticipated. Baker? Same thing, it sorta didn't make sense for him to stick around. I wonder if a guy like EJ or Richards is thinking "Even if I come back, what minutes will I get?" and "What does my future hold here in two years from now". Guys like RIchards (and maybe EJ) could get recruited over several times.

Now, that's on them and their abilities.. the whole "Well, if they try hard they can have as many minutes as they want".. but they might feel better going to a smaller school, even if that means sitting out a year.

Also, any top45 pick is going to get a guaranteed contract. Might EJ think he can wow scouts, grab a $800k, hit the G-league for a year or two and then get onto an NBA team?

I don't think these are the wisest decisions either. Definitely don't think another year at UK is a bad thing.. but it seems every year a guy (or two) just doesn't want to deal with it. That they'd rather sit a year to play for like.. George Mason.

That's true, but I feel like Baker was our guy that fit that mold this year.

If we're being honest, I'm not sure Nick is ever an NBA draft pick, but he does have a very serious girlfriend here and transferring or leaving to play in Estonia doesn't make much sense.

EJ is a first round pick next season after improving and starting for us full time. Maybe he chases the payday now and makes his own way, so he's our most likely guy to leave, I think.

But I'd honestly give up either one for Blacksear, because they're all probably only here one more season anyway and Blackshear makes us a favorite.

Ah I forgot about NR's GF.. But I never really saw NR as the one who would transfer.. He's already put in two years, he's older, and as you said, he's starting to show that he may not be an NBA player.

EJ, on the other hand.. almost a Duke recruit and came to Kentucky late in the game. Only one season under his belt.. could still get drafted on ability.

He's the one I could see likely to leave.

When it comes to bigs, I'd take a proven grown man like Blackshear over most any of these skinny young star freshman. The exception being the elite 5 star bigs that don't come along every year, which we aren't getting. I've only seen a couple pics of this McDaniels kid but he looks rail thin and it's hard to see him being successful playing inside in the SEC as a freshman. We've seen that too many times before - Skal, SKJ, EJ, Richards, even a young WCS, etc, etc. Talent minus maturity and size is rarely a good thing for bigs at the power conference level.

He was committed to Auburn before signing with the Cats

I'd be surprised if Juzang isnt on the roster next year. Let Allen redshirt if he needs to. Plus, at his size and rebounding ability, we can play him anywhere from the 2-4 in certain lineups.

You don't find a ton of guys with bodies that ready who can shoot like that, and I think he'd be a top-15 kid (or higher) in 2019 because 2020 is so much deeper and more talented.
