Scouting Report: Scoring wing with good size and long arms. Shoot-first but much improved efficiency. Big time threat off the dribble as a shooter from both midrange and three. Can knock down threes in bunches from perimeter and also has a strong one- and two-dribble pull-up game. Can get to the basket but is most comfortable scoring with his jumper. Size, length and athleticism give him upside as versatile defender. Can improve shot selection and handle. Projects as productive high major wing with NBA upside due to his shot making ability at his size.

Watch the videos on KSR. Cat can ball, very crafty. A Lamb / Herro hybrid. And is a gym rat.

Would welcome him with open arms next season.

Cool, thanks. I know some tapes don’t show their game well so I want to see more before I form an opinion. I trust Cal though.

Not really familiar with his game. Sounds like a solid replacement for Baker with more upside for 2020. Kinda has a Kevin Martin feel, but his frame and body are better.

With Johnny Juzang being 6'7 200 he can play the SG position behind Maxey and could also get minutes behind Whitney at the 3 SF position. He could get 25-30 minutes playing behind Maxey and Whitney. With KJ gone to the NBA we have no one behind and filling in for Whitney when there is foul trouble or just rest. That would give Juzang more minutes of playing time next season playing behind both Maxey and Whitney.

And would give Allen time to ease into the game as a frosh playing behind him.

Actually reminds me of our UK boy, Allen.
6’6 or 6’7, not a high level athlete but a decent one. Just a really skilled basketball player who can score at all 3 levels.
Get him Cal!

Going to be hard to find minutes for everyone if we get Juzang and Blackshear. Not sure how the math will work out.

I guess you bring everyone in you can and let it work itself out.

You seriously need a life. All you do is lurk around a UK board waiting for any recruit name to pop up so you can tell us its too late and hes KUs. Get bent

On the actual recruiting note. Ill take him bc it looks like he could be around more than a year. Would prefer a proven player but a multi year guard not a bad option
Another kid that has the tools to blow up after he gets here......just like several other players Cal has recruited.......

If EJ is back you don't think EJ at the 4 and Brooks at the 3? Suppose Maxey and Quickley most of the minutes at the two. Could see Jang spelling Brooks so we have offense on the floor all the time. But Jang looks good on film, scoring from different spots, hitting the boards and his shot release looks true so Cal doesn't have to teach him how to shoot.

If we add Juzang I see him competing with Whitney for the starting spot at the 3. I see Juzang ending up being the backup 3 with Whitney starting.

I think Brooks plays mostly at the 4 with Montgomery at the 5, unless we add another big.

Of course, I thought Herro would be a backup this past year behind the Sophomore Green, so what do I know? LOL!

Either way, he would be a nice get for us.

I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think EJ will be back. Jmo, he’s staying in the draft.

I went back and edited. I think Brooks ends up as our starting 4 with Montgomery starting at the 5. Richards and Sestina back them up.

Starters

G Hagans
G Maxey
F Whitney
F Brooks
F Montgomery

Bench

G Quickley- backup at the 1-2
G Juzang- backup at the 2-3.
F Sestina- backup at the 4 and 5.
F Richards- backup at the 5.

Looking like Brooks, Maxey and Sestina are the ones that can score it best with Quickley, Montgomery and Juzang after that. Really think EJ will come on strong this year and he would be more effective at the 4 IMO. Just not really a back to the basket type. But you could be right. According to how much better Richards will be and how good Sestina is on the inside.

I just went out and looked at the Crystal Ball Prediction for Johnny Juzang and it had Stanford and Kentucky at 50% each. I didn't see Kansas on the one that I looked at today. Juzang being 6'7 can play both the 2 and 3 and get minutes at both backing up Whitney and Maxey. We need to get Juzang and then bring in a big man like Blackshear and we will be set for a Final Four run and possible National Championship.
