I know this will be moved or deleted - but damn things are just not going well for me right now. Work, family, friends - everything in a serious funk. I’m tired, I’m working too hard and not getting any return. This is the only place I have to vent. Just getting some out. That’s all. I have to make some life changes quick.

Carry on brothers. Carry on.

Hope things take a turn for the better soon BWO. Life is like a **** sandwich, the more bread you got, the less **** you have to eat. God bless, and good luck.

Hang in there man, we’ve all been there in some way. I was there a few years back, made some changes, and have never looked back. Life moves in mysterious ways, you never know where it’ll take you and your life may be completely different this time next year. Try and keep your head up.

I mean this in the best possible way -- Have you considered a dentist? I know profile pictures aren't always accurate, but it could improve your social life - also the mustache is a bold play, but you might try shaving that. Some people just don't respond well to bushy facial hair.

Okay, nevermind.

Everyone who has lived long enough has been through what you are going through. The hardest part - but the only thing that works - is to keep doing the right things - working hard, treating people well, putting yourself out into the world where good things can happen to you. As the poet Goethe said:

"Whosoever unceasingly strives upward . . . him can we save."

Going through a rough patch myself. A month ago today ripped my patella tendon completely into in my knee. Had surgery 5 days later and have been pretty much house bound since except for doctor visits and therapy. It sucks. First week i was depressed, mad, sad, you name it. With my wife’s help finally got my head on straight. But it’s gonna be a long recovery, and being self employed, money is tight. But taking things day to day and keeping a positive attitude has really helped. Still have bad days, but they are fewer and farther between. Hope in some small way this might help you. Good luck!

I felt the same way for a couple years. I quit my job in November and moved back home (I’m 28) and took 5 months off from any work. Realized who I was, where I want to be, etc.

I’m now in a job, making less money, but I don’t mind going to work everyday. I’m debt free and Planning to move to Phoenix later this year. I don’t have a wife or kids and honestly, do not want those things. I love being alone. You just have to figure out who you are and run with it

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. -James 1:2-4

My favorite scripture that brought me through a lot

DO NOT START ON THE MEDICINE TRAIL!!
Try anything natural first.
Think today is the rest of your life.
What do you want to wake up and do for the next 2-5-10-20 years?
You can ALWAYS change. Life is short
Gods blessings upon your weary head my friend.

From someone who loves the sauce.. booze is in the same boat. Someone mentioned Buffalo Trace to you OP, so I'm assuming you like to party in some fashion. Nothing wrong with that.

.. but it's worth while to take breaks. Detox. Save money, save your body. Be more clear minded. Be more productive. A lot of times alcohol use can just be punting life further down the road, and that only works for so long.

Also an un-busy mind can be a bad thing. It wanders. Keep yourself busy with a new hobby or project and it keeps your mind occupied.

Update: This was aimed to the BWO in case there's confusion

I try to tell myself, "Tis but a flesh wound." I know that is not the exact quote, but it works for me.

On awful days I walk into the bathroom, look in the mirror, and as long as I don't have a stick in my eye, I try to think to myself - It could be worse.

I hope it gets better quickly.

If this is the only place to vent you better change your life, find a good person to talk to and find a new job after a vacation.

I share your pain my friend. I've been waiting patiently 8 years for a new job back in my professional field and last week I was offered one in Poplar Bluff MO. Double my current crappy state salary, take home vehicle, cell phone etc. I went back for a second interview and they asked me what number it would take to get me there. I was on Cloud 9, never been treated that way in my life. I toured the town, they showed me areas to live, discussed benefits, the whole deal. At the end (close to 9 pm) the board chair told me to think on it to which I replied "I want the job, no doubt." He said they would "meet tomorrow night and get it approved." Next night he calls and tells me they went with another candidate. I thought this was a done deal.

Talk about being down, man I was walking on air only to have the rug yanked out from under me. It hurt (and still hurts). I guess the thing is we can't do anything about life in general other than bite the bullet and move on. I hope things pick up for you. This adulting thing sucks balls.

Persevering usually wins out. Be patient and keep doing the right things. Been there, done that, will be again. (Doing the right thing always lessens the possibility of revisiting the same issues.)

Agree with above poster about alcohol use. My first week home after surgery after wife would go to bed I would get plastered, and using a walker to get around it’s a wonder i didn’t fall and undo surgery. After one night when I literally crawled out of the house down steps and 200 feet to my truck (was just gonna drive out on farm and sleep in truck but couldn’t get in), I finally made it back inside and had a good talk to myself lol. Drinking heavily isn’t the answer.

Life can be overwhelming and honestly most of us cannot handle it alone. As some of you know my wife died June 4 and it may be a cliche but she was and is the Love of My Life. While she was going through cancer my focus and energy was easy because it was all towards her. But then... she was gone and the world stopped. It impossible for me to describe the depth and darkness of the grief but if it wasn’t for my determination to honor her memory and the Lord never leaving my side Icould have easily put a bullet in my head. But that won’t happen because of those two thing. I’ve been working my *** of making a memorial garden for her and turning our farm into a day camp for bereaved kids as was her dream. The grief is still there but the Lord gives me plenty of strength to overcome it when it arises.

I share this with you BWO and others suffering through life so you know that you’re never alone in the dark times.
Best wishes my friend.
