Not ready to put Steely Don in the same category as those folks, but maybe that's just me.

Listening to this and Pusha T just dropped a bar about an iPod Nano. 😄

1st row at the Glow in the Dark Tour at the US Bank Arena (Eff the Heritage Bank Center) in 2008 was one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen and production wise prob was #1 (Kanye, NERD, Lupe) although I got irrationally pissed when Lupe didn’t come out for Touch the Sky

Diamonds (plus the remix) is better than most anything else.

I’ll tell you who else is (still) better than most - TI. One of the best voices out of the south, and lyrics so good it’s hard for me to believe he writes his own stuff. A lot of bs, and the ecstasy era of rap was god awful, but it’s easy to argue he is the king of the south. That’s a deep YouTube hole of hits.

* Going to see Ryan Sickler tonight at Comedy Off Broadway. I haven't been to COB since pre-COVID so I'm hopeful they don't have any mask requirements like UK did for the Nate Bargatze show. I doubt it since COB generally tries to get as many drinks down you in an hour and a half as possible.

I need to make a point to go to COB more. It is a great date night. Hit up Palmer's for an early dinner, watch the 7 pm show, then uber home to wax.

* Comedians I've seen at COB: Joey Diaz, Lavell Crawford, Adam Carolla, TJ Miller (awful), and...... Sinbad. Sinbad was surprisingly good. Much better than pillhead TJ Miller who just wandered off the stage after 15 minutes of rambling nonsense.

* Tomorrow is the last regular season game of what has been an absolutely delightful season. I'm going to miss this team. A 2pm showcase game on CBS is a fitting send off.

* I've been cracking up all week about Vince Marrow telling Mike Edwards that he looks like Mike's daddy.

* Spring is in the air, COVID looks like it is finally in the rearview mirror, and the Cayts are looking good for a deep run in the tournament. Can't ask for anything more really.

Wayne that kid Mark Willis looked like a pro’s pro last night in the combine. Had he run my guess is he’d surpass Kenny Pickett as the number QB in the draft.

The guy is built like a damn linebacker too!

- Solid trip to Salt Lake City for a long weekend/work trip combo. Not sure what I was really expecting but the easy access to tons of outdoor activities was kinda startling after another dreary Kentucky winter. Park City gets the pub but there are lots of places to have a good day trip.

- Grass is starting to green up a bit, days are longer, fishing planned for tomorrow… exhale.

- Sweetens Cove flooded again. Love the place but can’t imagine what they spend to constantly rebuild that course.

- Might need to have my back deck rebuilt. Any Lex area recommendations?

Been to Salt Lake City twice, first as a young tot in the 1980's and last summer. Pretty cool town. Clean, and a really neat downtown area with shopping, restaurants, bars, etc. The Great Salt Lake is downright depressing. Nasty looking and it's up to a mile walk or more in some spots just to get to it because of drought.

If you're ever out there and have time, rent a car and go to the Bonneville Salt Flats. You can drive out on it and hammer down as fast as you want to go.

The best thing about Salt Lake City is being a 4-hour drive to Moab, 5 hours to Yellowstone/Teton, and 6 hours to Vegas.

Sold this piece of cardboard for $120,000 this weekend, at a show, in Atlanta. When I was a little kid setting up at shows/flea markets $100 days were big.


-They had a 4 v 4 basketball tournament going on. Next year thinking about signing some NIL deals with GYERO ballers and bringing a squad down to win it.

-Oscar has gotten a higher grade/feedback than mock drafts are putting him at.

Utah is the most underrated state in the country for outdoor activity. In a state dominated by Mormons, I don't think outdoor sports are a huge part of their culture. So despite having 5 National Parks, world class skiing, and countless natural treasures, you just don't see nearly as many people there living the lifestyle. As opposed to Colorado (currently in Breck, fyi), where everyone you come across looks like they just got done skiing/rock climbing/hiking/rafting/etc 24/7.

- It’s one of the most remarkable statistics of UK basketball history- 38 Elite 8s. Both impressive and a reminder of how painful that round has been to us. These heartbreakers quickly come to mind:

- I keep going back and forth on reading this Coach K book. I don’t think I could stomach it.

- Rewatched “Whiplash” recently. I always look at that as basically a sports movie. Just can’t beat Miles Teller and JK Simmons going head to head. Also makes me wonder if we’re losing something in this “softer” era. Sometimes to bring out genius, harsh methods and mind games are necessary. If you eliminate that in coaching, does some greatness stay forever hidden?

- I’ll know it’s baseball season when BRax posts a picture of his two big muscular sons eye-blacked, jerseyed up, mean-mugging, flatbills perfectly level, with the caption, “Too much sauce.”

Until then, that sports is nestled in the very back of my mind.

- Wife’s best friend is in town for the weekend visiting us from LA. I don’t know who’s happier my wife or my dog. Golden retrievers are just the best. Going to introduce her to goetta, Graeters and Skyline.

I know the Gladys Knight version was first but it's just a pop song. The Marvin Gaye version is one of those songs you hear and feel the desperation and takes it to a different level. The CCR version is ok, you can tell it's the Gaye version he's trying to emulate by making it darker but Marvin's version is the gold standard.

Good list. 1999 is one that a lot of people forget. Had a chance to make it 4 FFs in a row. Came out in that E8 game guns blazing and built a big lead on Michigan State and gave it all back by halftime. We couldn't stop Morris Peterson and AJ Granger or buy a basket in the 2nd half. And we were favored to win that game.
