Went to the 8th region games last night. They got something in the water over in Woodford County. Nice team made up mostly of underclassmen, but they got a freshman PG that totally dominated the game. Came to find out it’s Dennis Johnson’s son. He’s already 6’3, keeps the ball on a string and has a knockdown J. Rock_Cat78 said he’s also their QB and is expected to be an elite football prospect as well.

Good list. 1999 is one that a lot of people forget. Had a chance to make it 4 FFs in a row. Came out in that E8 game guns blazing and built a big lead on Michigan State and gave it all back by halftime. We couldn't stop Morris Peterson and AJ Granger or buy a basket in the 2nd half. And we were favored to win that game.

I had that one but removed it because I don’t believe it was a true heartbreaker as the others were. It sucked but we were coming off 2 chips in 3 years and the future “appeared” bright.

- Been in our new house for about 6 weeks now. Workers still doing some finishing touches...can't wait to stop getting an invoice every 2 weeks. 40-50% over budget for whole project. YIKES!

- Was notified yesterday instead of the customary 2.5% raise every April that this year we are getting 3.5% due to rising inflation. Was a nice surprise.

- Going out to eat is a minimum $80-$90 now for our household. Our 2.5 year old gets her own meal now and with a couple drinks and a couple entrees, it adds up a quick. Dropped $77 at a freaking Mexican restaurant a few weeks back. I know we live in a tourist area but damn.

- Went back and forth on going to SEC tourney being it's only an hour away. Backed out last minute to watch with some friends by the pool out back.

- Really don't have any preference on seeding/geography for the NCAA tournament. Would prefer to not play Gonzaga until F4 and not play Nova in Philly but at this point, I like my team...lets go.

- 7 mo old is teething really bad and not sleeping much at night. We have tried everything and nothing works. I'm usually back on the couch by 1am to try and get a few hours sleep.

- Utah was our fav state to visit when we did our 26 state road trip a few years back. Could have easily spent 3-4 weeks there in the national parks alone.

- Anyone ever been to the Maldives? I know it's a pain to get to but is it worth it or anyone have any recommendations?

- Buddy asked me the other days who my top 5 fav cats were. In order, Delk, Mash, Padgett, Meeks, and Pelphrey.

My 2 and 4 year old split a kids meal and rarely finish it between the two of them. I think the only reason either of them survive is peanut butter and eggs.

Funny thing is that several of those kids are transfers. It’s kind of a running joke here in Versailles. Jaron Brown has brought over several of his AAU kids. Also MCrear is Marrow’s nephew and his new fiancé lives in Versailles.

I watched it on stream and was pretty amazed at Dennis’ kid. Looked like Fox out there.

* Winter in Kentucky can get downright depressing looking at times albeit I’ve learned to appreciate it and the cozy & relaxing feel it can create. That being said about winter I’ll be damned if you can find a prettier place in the spring. I’m starting to notice the greener shade of grass popping up and some trees in our neighborhood are about to flex over the next 5 weeks or so.

- When this team has its full roster and is healthy, there’s no team in the country that is better offensively.

In the half court, teams have to play Kentucky so honestly because there’s guys that can hurt you in many different ways and the court is spread out so well. Wheeler can be reckless at times but man he puts so much pressure on teams when he gets out in transition. Kentucky can grind in the half-court and no team wants to get in a track meet with this group.

They need to get more focused defensively but part of it I think is wanting to get done with the 2 month long SEC grind and on the with the real thing.

I’m confident this Kentucky team is built for a deep tourney run with how the NCAA tourney is generally officiated and having a solid margin of error on offense with 5 guys that can give you 20 plus any given night.

- Booked a trip to Scottsdale with the Lass for next month. I’ve never been to the desert. We’re going to do some hiking on Camelback Mountain, horseback riding, relaxing at the resort, and I’ve convinced the Lass to hit up a dispensary to get some choice edibles that would create a desired buzz tailor made for what you want. The shopping and dining options look dece as well.

- Matt Winn’s Steakhouse atop Churchill last night for a work dinner with spouses. Cocktail hour in the speakeasy and then dinner in the main dining room. Really cool space. Unbelievable, glass encased bourbon collection near the bar . Awesome view of the track. Medium rare 10 oz filet was cooked to perfection and our table shared all of the sides that were all very good. A nice change up from Ruby’s and there’s a neat vibe to it being part of such a historic place in Churchill.

- Tennis this afternoon with my Jewish attorney buddy. I’m punctual but try to be somewhat flexible when it comes to social things. Not this guy. I better be right on time or the sob will throw a fit. If it’s a 3:30 match we best be serving it up no later than that time. He must have his entire day planned to an absolute minute.
Good dude overall but he’s a stickler for most things.

- Owensboro this weekend for the father in law’s retirement party. The best part about these things is that the grandparents and other relatives are so excited to see the kiddos they basically take on most of the daily parenting minutia for the day. Here ya go, take em!

My ex wife (from Ohio) first experiences with UK bball were 06-09 so needless to say she didn’t see much.

In one of his first games, Wall went coast to coast and did some move btwn his legs and threw one down left handed. She turned and looked at me with a WTF look. I responded with, “we’re f’n back”.

She grew up with Michael porter and now had John wall.

The 95 Elite 8 to my recollection is my first real bout of complete in game redass. I think my mom wanted to have me committed after that one. I feel like I would have murdered Rhodes had I seen him.

Top 5 favorite Cats:
Delk, Mashburn, DA, MKG, Wall

I really hope we roll into Gainesville like we did in Lawrence tomorrow. Get this puppy started.

I can only assume this means the London Showcase is our multi-team event and two of our home games next year will be Maine and Marist.

- I still remember Street&Smith saying it would be Martinez, not Mashburn, who would be our impact freshman.

- People forget how ballyhooed Rhodes was - and what a stud he was his first semester. Folded under Pitino’s harsh coaching. Probably would have been better with a guy like Dean Smith.

- Agree with RM - Wall would have to be #1 for excitement level. Mercer would be #2. Adding him to what we had coming back was next level hype.

You guys are full of **** not saying Wall after that GOAT mixed tape came out, get out of here. After 10 years of tubby and Gillespie then Cal comes waltzing in and that mix tape? I mean come on

The greatest mixtape of all time:

I can remember my first time watching this. It probably felt like the first time someone went from a life of black-and-white TV to finally watching something in color. What an exciting time, shew...

What’s funny is that if you watch fellow 5-star Devin Askew’s mix tape you come out thinking that those two aren’t even playing the same sport.

That’s cause your neighborhood is old and a lot of the homes are decrepit. You should move out to the NC where even the winters are beautiful.

I always thought it was the perpetual grey sky that resonates January through February making that time of year here depressing but you’re right.

All I need is to relocate to a desolate, treeless subdivision next to an interstate, Olive Garden and Red Robin and voila… Things around here will look much better in the wintertime.
