Did Oleg drop thermobaric bombs on civilians?

I have a feeling that you relaying your Wikipedia research won't soften the blow much for him though.

Why didn't you ask me about the Mongols? They killed 48K of the 50K people who lived there. I may have Wikipedia searched the history of Kiev. But I read "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" last summer. Comparing Putin to Hitler (or basically anybody to Hitler) at this point is just wrong.

JFK ordered an aide to buy up as many Cuban cigars as he could right before he ok’ed the Cuban trade embargo.

Wonder if the governor didn’t the same.
This is our governor, so I can only assume the answer is yes. She'll have a stockpile of Popov by days end.

You said comparing Putin's current attacks to Hitler's attacks 80 years ago was weak-minded and dishonest. Now your bending over backwards to try and make a comparison to the Mongols invasion 800 years ago. You are too dumb to even troll well.

Ukrainian Ambassador to the UN with another Hitler comparison.

I was being sarcastic about the previous invasions.

Hitler invaded everybody and tried to kill 1) all the Jews, all the Gypsies, and eventually, all the Soviets. I'm not defending Putin, but at least he said "if you do this I'll invade" whereas Hitler basically said, "I'm invading - end of story". And by the way, Putin keeps claiming the Ukrainians have Nazis that need to be removed. It's like everybody's comparing each other to Nazis. So dumb.

War in 2022, trying to "woke cancel culture" our way out. At least we've finally found a worthy foe to cancel. Much worse than the Goya folks.

There's some urban defense guru on Twitter instructing Ukrainians on how to stage Kyiv for battle.

Then you have the Ghost of Kyiv, really the part I want to be true the most.

Did the Snake Island guys really die?

Putin is obviously terrified of Covid.

What a weird time.

king Andy just suspended the mask mandate for all executive branch offices and state agencies, effective March 1. (Some agencies are excluded.) But Fayette County schools continues masking kids.

Laughing at arguments is one of the most petty actions on this message board. It still feels inadequate at times.

If there is one thing about this war that has made me smile just a bit, it's the videos of Ukranian farmers using their tractors to tow off tanks that ran out of gas. There are several of them popping up, and it warms my heart.

  1. From Reuter's in 2018 = Ukraine's Neo-Nazi Problem
  2. In Russia, they call everybody they hate Nazis. It has to do with the fact that the Nazis in WWII caused the deaths of 24M Russians and had the objective to kill every single last one of them.
  3. Don't word game me, @RibsAndWhiteBread - It's not like I said "Hitler was bad, but he did some good things at first". I said "Putin (currently) is not as bad as Hitler" - which is indisputable, and qualified it with "and I'm not defending him". That's a reasonable thing to say.
  4. My angle on here has always been the following:
    1. Putin's bad, but I understand why he's pissed off - he feels like NATO is encroaching on him. I don't believe his goal is to make the USSR a real thing again, but I do think he draws the line at Ukraine. Russia wants a buffer state between them and the west. Ukraine even agreed to this, although they say now that will be very tough. I'm open to hear other sides on this. This doesn't mean he's right - this seems very Cold War thinking on his part, but it helps to understand why he's pissed off.
    2. Ukraine isn't exactly a model state; they've got a ton of issues and shouldn't be confused with other Western allies.
    3. The fact that Russia has nukes makes this a lot more risky; I think we should tread lightly - especially given that 2nd point re: Ukraine - to ensure that something apocalyptic doesn't happen.
    4. I want peace between the Ukraine and Russia. I'd love for Putin to be taken out via coup or whatever, but if that isn't going to happen I'd prefer they go back to the way things were.

Wayne, I agree with a lot more of your post above, though it's still flawed.

- "democratically", lmao. Putin is a cvnt...and Ukraine is in the right/ should defend itself, but let's not pretend Ukraine is a bastion of western goodness.
Never said they were "a bastion of western goodness". I pointed out that they held a democratic election, which is pretty cool considering they only gained independence from Russia about 30 years ago.

Have you seen the destruction America leaves behind or causes? Let’s also not pretend we are the bastion of western goodness either.

-of course...glad you brought it up: our hands aren't clean in the current situation, fwiw.

1.) I can give you 60 examples of dudes walking in the streets in the US with Nazi flags on their shoulders. Do we have a Nazi problem? 600 dudes in the military being masculine dicks doesn't mean the Ukraine has a Nazi problem.

2.) Which is why Putin used the term, errantly, to try to give his troops a reason to fight. He's lying, you know he's lying, yet you persist.

3.) You may not have said it but damn if you aren't implying a lot by your next point.

4.) It matters none what Putin wants. He's the ruthless dictator of Russia. He does want the old fashioned USSR back because the toil this will cost his country is unbelievable. The number of positive things happening elsewhere in the world in direct result of this are astonishing. Putin is clearly mentally ill and capable of ending the world with nukes. NATO at the front door probably wouldn't have happened if Crimea doesn't happen. Crimea only happened because he lost Yanukovich. And, Rudd, while I tend to agree with your foreign policy (**** China again for posterity) the Ukraine literally voted for and elected an actor. Not exactly some 30 year political vet that just had to grease some palms for his shot. He literally ran on a platform stating that the country was corrupt and he wasn't from that culture. So, yeah, this is slightly different.

Long story short, I doubt even PTI would try to finagle in a "Putin ain't that bad" just to be contrarian, so please stop.

-thoughtful post worthy of a like, Beck.

-again...the Ukraine is in the right, and while it's good to support a fledgling democracy (especially against autocratic russia), they're pretty shady.

-the coverage, social media agitprop from every corner is off-putting...it's like a "reality-tv" war. Odd.

Well why don't you fly to Ukraine and start fighting then, Beck? They'll hand you a firearm upon arrival. We just spent the last 20 years involved in the Middle East fighting a seemingly endless war. Now social media propaganda got you jazzed up for Team America to go into the Ukraine and fight the Red Army who have nukes. I have never seen people get so excited for war before without thinking these things through.

Not often you see Jefferson, Fayette, and Clay counties being in the same basket.

I'm going to assume that mask mandates in schools in Leslie, Letcher, and Lee counties are not strongly enforced.

Where in my post did I advocate for war? If anything you should go help Putin get NATO out of his "backyard". The only thing we seemingly agree on is that we both want this to end and go back to being the way they were, the problem is that that's impossible now.

Also, the same people worried that Putin is insane (and this invasion proves it) are worried because we don't know if he will use nukes. The false dichotomy your tweeter posted there was conjured on a whim. There's no reason to think someone is insane then think they wouldn't do something insane, it's just dumb. And, just in case, if there are examples of people expressing that sentiment, they're probably incredibly naive.

I just can't believe we're having to do this after COVID ******** all because some dickbag wants to live out his life long fantasy.

Move Woodford to Green! Sounds like the BOE wanted to keep their seats so they went unanimous for mask choice.
Yes! Happy for them! And happy for employees in state offices that as of a few hours ago are now mask optional (Andy decision). Fayette County Board meeting just reiterated again they are not going mask optional right now.
