The correlation of people who hype the free market and people who hate woke cancel culture is amusing. That venn diagram is almost a perfect circle.

The free market has determined that employing someone who might be racist and/or homophobic is bad for business.

My post wasn’t a commentary on Gruden. Your argument is the same no matter who’s getting skewered. .

Rule the word is a far cry from acknowledging that something very real indeed exists.

I surmise you’d feel differently if it was you or a loved one - or maybe not, Bc then you’d be siding with friends and family.

Of course it would suck, and in 17 years of working for major corporations I’ve had a few close calls and HR interactions myself. But this is the real world.

If the tech geeks and HR nerds at a major corporation find a ton of emails where you’re using vulgar/sexist/racist/insensitive language, you’re toast. Surely you’re smart enough to know this.

And to top it all off, this guy sucked and was drastically overpaid. I know “cancel culture” exists, this just isn’t it.

I don’t know what we’re complaining about. Gruden calling his boss a gaf and ***** on company email in 2018 and getting fired seems normal. The weathermen wearing afros for a back to 70s joke like the other thread on this board is some ridiculousness. Saying everything is “woke cancel culture” weakens that insult in the same way calling everything racist does.

His team is not ******. They are actually decent. And who cares if it happened at a different job? It was just a few years ago. Its not like it was decades ago when he was a kid.

I know a few of you on here are business owners, and business owners generally appreciate the "at will" doctrine of employment law, i.e. that an employee can be fired for any reason or no reason at all.

If you get a customer complaint that one of your service employees was overheard using racist language on the job, cursing, behaving in a vile manner, etc., what do you do? If you fire the employee (who otherwise does a good job) is that "cancel culture"? Or is it just a business owner taking the necessary steps to protect their business?

I’m a free marketeer and think top 40 music is ******. Even ***** about its shiftiness at times. Zero conflict between the two positions.

Good story about Jared Folks from ETSU who is 26 and playing in his EIGHTH year of eligibility.

Some highlights:
His graduating class included Leonard Fournette, Myles Garrett, Joe Mixon, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Kentucky players Drew Barker, Matt Elam, and Boom Williams.

He's earned 2 bachelor's and 3 masters degrees

He played at Temple under Matt Rhule, the Panthers second year coach, and Rhule coached at Baylor 3 years before that.

He left college in early 2020 to join the workforce only to return and play in the FCS Spring season and again this fall.

-Changing the discussion randos.

-Pumped to get G's new basketball shoes. Talk about one of the best days of the year as a kid. Shewwwwwwwweeee.

-Little bastard is so destructive. Broke his switch controllers for the 2nd time. He's a tornado.

-Little man is saying words, which is blowing my mind, I guess I forgot the development timeline. Will be walking basically any day now.

-The Rinella/Rogan podcast is great, as usual with those two. Nice dive into parenthood.

-Been wanting one for ages but ordered a small 2 person sauna for the house. Can't flippin wait to get that sucker. 20-30 minutes in there and a shower before bed. Yessir.

-Those of you weighing the decision to vaccinate your kiddos when the time comes, here are a few articles that should help. NYT, Atlantic, and Emily Oster. Good info in there.

-Stoops, would he bolt for Miami? Will the FSU job open up? That would be 4 coaches in 4 years. He doesn't seem to fit the LSU mold but obviously if they came it would be a tough turn down, my guess is they aim much higher. Where does Mitch go to lock him down? 7-8-9M? We know the big schools are now at 10M. I'm assuming if he gets 10-11 wins he'll have some serious suiters.

-Plan is to go visit some of my neighbors family and most importantly The Palestra this winter. Quick weekend trip to Philly, grab a cheesesteak, see some of the sites with G, take in a game. Be nice if it all pans out, looking at you Rona.

-Speaking of Philly, Ben Simmons is a weird dude.

I value my employees. They’ve done a tremendous job. One mistake won’t cost them their livelihoods under my roof. Do I agree with their ignorance? No, but I’m going to have some compassion for someone who truly regrets their mistake.

I don’t manage an NFL team either. If I did Gruden had to go. I would never hire him after watching Hard Knocks.

I seem to always forget to record the games when it's at home, but the SECN replays are pretty great - always record them on Sunday when I get home, then watch Monday night. They remove a few sequences here and there, and you can pretty much watch them in an hour or so fast forwarding through commercials, reviews, and halftime. A few thoughts:

-Poor Drennan gets two early touches, 1 run & 1 pass...and he had a guy(or two) literally in his face upon touching the ball, didn't even get a chance to take a full step either time.

-Ox was just everywhere - that really sucks

-Boutte also out for the season...man, what a train wreck down there.

-I've got no issue with the targeting being pulled, but perhaps someone smarter than me about football can explain why Cummings wasn't awarded a touchdown...but I doubt it. The slow mo replay shown 15x from different angles seemed as clear as possible to me???

-Our crowd, once again, was just bonkers through the TV...all the crowd shots were just wild. I haven't seen any crowd all year come through louder or more impressive on television, and our field just POPS.

-Favorite play call of the game was the fake toss & pull to a streaking Rigg. Just beautiful. I love our mix of different styles with he, Bates, and Cummings. Still have to wonder what kind of monster season Upshaw would be having as a safety option for Levis.

2nd was probably the wheel to Robert.

-Wandale is so GD quick and explosive. I can't recall anyone with that type of burst around here.

^ that motion we use on so many plays is such a subtle weapon & diversion, especially when it's him. Would love to see us try the little direct shovel toss to him on a 4th and 1....it doesn't even seem possible that he can gain less than 5 yards on that play, and he hasn't so far.

-Cats +24 (-120) booked.

-Bonus: I can't wait til G gets a cell phone so I can talk smack to him. We already have a nice competitive relationship, only gonna get better with time.

I agree with PTI, this isn't cancel culture. In the last 20 or so years that email has been a thing, this would have gotten you fired whenever someone decided to reveal it. The guy is an idiot and got what he deserved. That being said, some of the side stuff like why is this pertinent to the Dan Snyder investigation and is this all a distraction to help him and media bringing up "and he criticized the Obama administration in the emails" are more telling about the issues we have in this country.

That psycho middle linebacker for Clemson isn’t that far behind.

When the big boys come calling, Mitch better gives Stoops every single thing he needs to stay. If he leaves due to any sort of monetary or commitment issue on our part, Mitch should be fired. If he wants to leave for a more prestigious job, getting paid less, then there's nothing we can do. But he has proven beyond doubt that he is the man for the Kentucky job and we must do everything in our power to keep him. If we don't heads need to roll.

Stoops is ranked the 15th highest paid coach in the entire country. MilqueToast has his PR faults but will pay him what it takes. I also believe that the indoor
facility issue will be resolved with an announcement this off-season.

Hold on, Gruden is out? I’m just catching up. That’s ridiculous. I guess you can’t bust balls with people you know anymore. Hell, posting on here alone makes you basically indefensible and a racist homophobe. Meh, whatever just more reason to move back to the hills of Kentucky where people don’t bother.

Was the defendant doing a traffic violation or did the kid run out in front of him? I can’t seem to get the info on that. And yes, I know the 0.05 is over the 18-21 year old limit.
