Huh....well. That is interesting. Didn’t realize that last part. The first part eh, spend time with your teammates and get better. You’ll be traveling plenty.
Honest question. Jordan comes out as a freshman, goes to buy or rent a sports car, house shopping, gonna be drafted by some crap organization.....is he Jordan today? I see no way.
My point is just focus on the goal. You don’t need feedback to know what you already know. These guys are not going to help us with this foot in foot out mindset or themselves in lots of cases.
Cal is the best person on the planet to know what they need to work on.
As a 40 something year old guy, I think some of these players will look back in 25 years and wish they had stayed in college.
We won our Region and went to the State tournament in basketball my Sophomore year of high school, and it is still one of my best memories.
I was talking to a couple of my teammates from that team last month. Both successful, great families. Both played college ball. Both agreed that winning that Regional and playing in State was one of their all time favorite experiences.
Now multiply that times 1000 and imagine you’re Tyler Herro, hitting the game winner in the Elite Eight this time, or even in the Title game.
Can’t put a price on it.
Leaving when they do is often the most logical decision. I can’t fault them for it. But it doesn’t mean they’ll look back three decades from now and feel like it was the right decision. Doesn’t make them immune to regret.
