Forget Bielema. But add the Texas-San Antonio coach. Can you add Bielema?
also add Joe Bready and Bill OBrien to the list.Just to throw another name out- long shot, but Brent Venables? Long time top notch DC, been around top programs. I know he’s turned down head coach jobs before, and makes a boat load as an assistant already.
I might be wrong, but get the feeling he likes the ‘relative obscurity’ of being swinney’s asst.Just to throw another name out- long shot, but Brent Venables? Klieman is a solid coach. He will need some assistants that can recruit.KLIEMAN! Por Favor!
Run the ball.
Tough D.
can you add a couple options, keep existing staff, keep just HCSF and clean house on assistance, etc?I changed the settings of the poll to allow for votes as we go through the season and also to make it voting total public now.
Now that we are a few days into this, Chris Klieman, Gus Malzahn, Matt Campbell, Jeff Monken, and Jamey Chadwell have the most votes.
I think we are starting to be smarter about Scott Frost's eventual replacement (it will be another losing season) than we have been since Solich....at least us on the message board.
Do you really think Alberts is going to tell SF you can coach next year but you have to get rid of some assistance..can you add a couple options, keep existing staff, keep just HCSF and clean house on assistants, etc?
Get a new QB coach that can develop them properlyWhat are we to do with two very promising prospects at QB, viz. Haarberg and Torres?
Exactly, that is not even good leadership.Do you really think Alberts is going to tell SF you can coach next year but you have to get rid of some assistance..
Not a chance..
If you have to force a HC to fire assistants and hire new ones, you toally have the wrong coach.Do you really think Alberts is going to tell SF you can coach next year but you have to get rid of some assistance..

Osborne was extremely loyal to a fault, but somehow ended up with really good assistants. Maybe Scott is trying to follow in his footsteps but his loyalty may cost him his job…..Osborne also named his successor based on that loyalty factor and that didn’t work out so well for Solich. If you have to force a HC to fire assistants and hire new ones, you toally have the wrong coach.
Yeah, well he probably will be available, he is expected to be coaching for his job this year.Justin Fuente - HC Virginia Tech
He was interested in the job before and I bet he would take the job if offered. He has been at Virginia Tech for 5 seasons now and has an overall winning record in ACC play - 25-17. Won 1 conference title in the AAC and won the division once in the ACC.
I'm leaning towards adding him to the list just not as one of the top names.
Still staying with Kleiman for now. Honestly I don't think Malzahn would be a good fit here.I changed the settings of the poll to allow for votes as we go through the season and also to make it voting total public now.

Klienman is perfect for a 6-7 win season.Klieman is a solid coach. He will need some assistants that can recruit.

If he is buying time to find a long term answer at HC, it's possible. I'd rather do this than have a cluster HC search when the AD is not ready.Do you really think Alberts is going to tell SF you can coach next year but you have to get rid of some assistance..
Not a chance..
I think it is something like this but I also think it is just the fact that you tend to think the guys you are coaching with are good coaches.Osborne was extremely loyal to a fault, but somehow ended up with really good assistants. Maybe Scott is trying to follow in his footsteps but his loyalty may cost him his job…..Osborne also named his successor based on that loyalty factor and that didn’t work out so well for Solich.
Okay, I can see that point but what record does SF have to have for that assessment..If he is buying time to find a long term answer at HC, it's possible. I'd rather do this than have a cluster HC search when the AD is not ready.
Not a chance. He is one of the dirtiest coaches in the game.Freeze would be great because he says all the things that Husker fans think they want to here...but does all the things that Husker fans WANT their coach to do, without knowing that he does it.
Not a chance as in he would not get hired or that he should not be hired? Not a chance. He is one of the dirtiest coaches in the game.

One thing with guys in college coaching that get cheating...they get better at cheating and better at not getting caught. While he is a winning coach, he has a history with NCAA infractions and we already have Frost under an NCAA invesitgation. It's not likely Trev Alberts would go and hire Freeze when he can hire a Jeff Monken or Chris Klieman type.
You realize they played South Dakota and they're terrible right? Fordham may be better than USD this year.
Nope. I just am very aware of who KSU played and how bad they are this year. I think Kleimann is a very good coach but I doubt we would fire Frost and go after him. JMO. I don't think his name would move the needle with the powers that be. Honestly I've got no clue about who they would go after and my guess IF Frost gets canned that it will be somebody not on any of this board poster radars. Who knows. Frankly I'm ambivalent about whether Frost stays or goes at this point. It's not my problem. You are trying to hard these days to try and protect Scott Frost for some weird reason. South Dakota is better than Fordham and nobody said the roster at kansas is good. In fact, the roster Kansas has right now is middle of the road FCS level. It's not good. He took that roster in a short amount of time and won.
If he even wins 3 games this year at Kansas he would have done a hell of a good job.
Jim literally turned down the Packers DC job to stay at Wisconsin. He will be there next head coach.Jim Leonard or Phil Parker. Bring back the black shirts and he will pound the ball.
What was his record last year?Going through the Kansas State stats from their game against Stanford and how it compares on a national scale, Kansas State was in the top 13 in the country in rushing attempts while being in the top 14 for yards per play against a quality P5 team.
Chris Klieman needs to be very, very high on the list of names to go after for the next head coach. The guy is legit.
His career is pretty damn good. Last year was a bit rough. Off to a much better start this year. They should start the year 3-0 and then play Oklahoma State. What was his record last year?
I can't hop on the Klieman train. Took over for Snyder for the 2019 season, went 8-5 and lost 3 of the last 5. Last year, his 2nd as head coach, they went 4-6 and lost their last 5 games of the year.Going through the Kansas State stats from their game against Stanford and how it compares on a national scale, Kansas State was in the top 13 in the country in rushing attempts while being in the top 14 for yards per play against a quality P5 team.

plus he has the horrible stink of kstate on him foreverI can't hop on the Klieman train. Took over for Snyder for the 2019 season, went 8-5 and lost 3 of the last 5. Last year, his 2nd as head coach, they went 4-6 and lost their last 5 games of the year.
Even in the 8-5 season two of the wins were against Nicolls and Bowling Green.
Don't think he's ready for that meat grinder in Lincoln. We can do better.
