By what measure? The Mason Dixon line runs along our northern border, is that not the defining element of the South?
The unwritten rule is that once you have local spread of the virus, the municipality goes into lockdown. Once you have so many municipalities under lockdown, the state goes under lockdown.
North Carolina's governor is a Democrat.
It might surprise you, but all of these states are working directly with VP Pence's office. All of the states are working directly with their municipalities. They are all working on this together.

We were actually a neutral state with areas of the state fighting on opposite sides.
The Mason and Dixon Line still serves figuratively as the political and social dividing line between the North and the South. Hell.....here in Jefferson County.......most locals still think they live in Virginia.
Important not to whitewash the civil war like some have over the years. Lessons learned and all. There are those who for political reason try to sell that it was only about slavery. April 9th 1865 the day we started the reunification of our country.

#3 depends on what part of the Maryland you're in as to how the locals feel. There are parts of the Eastern Shore that probably align themselves more with the old south.

Ironically, the date the thread was started, March 24, 2020 was also the date Cuomo sentenced thousands of nursing home patients to death with his edict to send Covid-positive patients into their midst.
Why didn't Cuomo use the hospital beds created in the Javitts Center and the Hospital ship provided by President Trump instead of killing old people in nursing homes?
We all know the answer, it was politically motivated and now Biden it taking it to new heights trying to isolate entire states if they disagree with his socialist vision.
Federal money was available for used beds at state facilities. No federal money gained if they used beds provided by the military. Cuomo killed grandma and grandpa because nursing homes were making a windfall and kicking back dollars to him
