He'd be a fool. UCLA's campus is heads and tails above IU. And, he's got something going out there in La La Land. Why start all over again?

Alford is not well-liked in California. I could see him leave but not for IU unless there is a LOT going on behind the scenes.

Two big reasons to leave would be taxes and the tight athletic budgets of California universities.

Agree that he'd be an idiot to do it but it's that going home thing and alumni pride. Especially if they offer him a boatload of cash. Plus, his son graduates so that's not holding him there either. If I'm in his shoes, I stay put at UCLA.

I think Alford would love to be considered. He would run to IU in my opinion. And he should just to get away from that circus that is the Ball family. That whole deal is gonna end badly. But right or wrong I think the IU fan base thinks they can do better.

All three Balls are overrated.Lonzo is a small forward that gets punked in NBA.His dad doesn't realize that he isn't athletic enough and will never be.

Some friends bought the Alford's house when they left Iowa. Evidently no one there liked him either. Apparently he never leaves behind many friends whe he moves on to the next job....

Whoever they hire, I hope James Blaxkmon doesn't like them...

Come home, James. You're our missing piece next year!

Green/Diallo/Blackmon
Vanderbilt/Washington
Richards/Bamba/Humphries

How's that for a top 8?

Most of their fanbase is against this, and honestly I would be too. Yeah he's an Indiana hero, but his coaching record sucks. He's never been past the sweet 16

I'm hearing it's certainly possible. I don't see it however. If so, could we get the other two Balls to UK?

I don't want them, with the Dad-baggage they would come with. But I would think they either go to UCLA regardless, or follow Alford to IU. Probably the first.

Green, Blackmon, Diallo, Vanderbilt, Bamba
With Richards, Washington, and Humphries off the bench.

I'd take that lineup in a second.

UCLA is one of the few programs that exceeds IU's tradition. I expect the Hoosiers to be a power again after they git rid of Crean. However, I'll be surprised if Alford leaves the Bruins.

Absolutely zero chance of Alford leaving UCLA for IU. ...anytime soon anyway. UCLA is winning and recruiting. Alford would be a fool to jump off that train right now.

Lonzo is OAD and the other two are not going to be as good anyway. They are saying the youngest one is going to be the best, but he is scrawny as hell and cherry picks like crazy.
Agree! The other two are getting noticed due to inflated numbers at their high school!

Hell, there's a thread about how they're overrated and their dad is a pain in the butt...

I don't see any ex-Bobby Knight players coaching IU until he either goes into assisted living or passes away. Heard a lot of rumors how none of his ex-players want the job as long as he's still living. Sounds as if he still intimidates then even though he's not involved in the program.

As if IU would even be interested. They'll probably give Pop and offer he couldn't pass down. After all, it is IU!!

Another thing not mentioned is there has been a ton of animosity with the fan base about him playing his son Bryce too much and not taking him out of games when he gets torched defensively. Boosters hired a plane to fly over the beach asking for him to be fired a couple years ago. There has been a ton of tension between the Alford's and the UCLA fan base through the years.

While that's true no one at UCLA cares about UCLA. Go see their gym when they're not playing Kentucky. At least at Indiana he'd have a passionate fanbase.
