You don’t underStand the value Schiano brings to the table. Losing him would be like self imposing the death penalty. The notion is completely asinine. I don’t blame you, because you don’t know any better. We should give Schiano a lifetime extension for at least twice the salary and a 10% increase every year based on his institutional knowledge alone!! He can coach till he's old and feeble and manage the game on the sidelines in his hover-round scribbling in his notepad sunshield. Keep him forever and when it comes the time that he sadly passes right there on the sidelines during a game. Bury him at halftime right there at mid- field so he'll always be with us.
Maybe you need to read your own research. We don’t have enough resources to pay players so we struggle to recruit. That’s why we take what we can get.Maybe do a little research before getting behind a keyboard. Data in multiple academic and industry studies such as research that was published by Athletic Director U indicate new or upgraded facilities have little to no measurable impact on team recruiting rankings. The primary driver is NIL and revenue sharing compensation, following by playing for winning programs and coaching relationships. How nice the locker room is or the size of weight room is a minimum factor for college players in today's world.
Quoting the University of Houston System Board of Regents Chairman and owner of the Houston Rockets "If you talk to college athletes today, they don't care about that building anymore. They care about how much am I getting paid."
With you it's one excuse after the other for a Head Coach that simply doesn't know how to win in the Big Ten Conference. The reason recruits want to go play for NW is because Coach Braun has shown success on the field and Schiano is not capable of that. NIL/Revenue Sharing Compensation between the 2 schools is close to equal as shown by the Athletic and Sideline.
However, please continue living in a time warp of college football yesteryear if in fact you actually believe anything you write.
We didn’t have the right head coach in place at the time. We lost to Michigan 78-0.
This and if you do this for awhile, you will expand your fan base and who knows? At some point, maybe you find a path to the top 1/3.Currently Rutgers is never getting to the top third, there is not enough support from alumni to get them there. But being consistently in the middle third means more support and a season or two where you can sneak into the top third.
The fanbase not caring about winning is not the reason for most of the losing in the past 3 seasons.Rutgers will never do better than the pinstripe bowl because the fanbase doesn’t care about winning as much as others in the Big Ten. Money talks. Other big ten programs are better capitalized.
USC just built a 300M Fieldhouse and has significant NIL support. Penn State spent a lot of money refurbishing their facilities followed by $700M in facilities improvements. Northwestern just invested over $1B in facilities.
Meanwhile, we have people like you who wonder why we can’t win. It’s simple. Recruits are going elsewhere for bigger bags and better experiencesz
We can go through every big ten team save for Maryland and Purdue, and they will have invested a lot more in football success than we have.
Schiano got more NIL. And this is what he’s produced with it. He doesn’t know what he’s doing. The more time he has to coach the worse the team gets. Should stick to being a fundraiser. Coaching football isn’t for himAdditional support is needed to recruit, since we don’t have a competitive value proposition. It’s not like recruits fall out of a tree.
Talk about losers, the only reason you’re on this board is you hate Schiano, because his football team took resources that might have otherwise gone to lacrosse.
I don’t think you can name 1 player on the team. You literally are a walking “L”. Please get a Life.
I still think about the Nebraska game. Did NIL not challenge the goal line call? Did NIL have a weak game plan, turning to Ben Black in the 4th quarter who was able to generate opportunities the other players couldn’t?Did a lack of NIL call an ill-advised timeout to ice the kicker on an unmakeable FG into a stiff wind against Illinois, leading to a walk off TD in a game RU basically had won?
Did a lack of NIL fail to prepare for UCLA (at the time the worst team in the B1G), resulting in an embarrassing home loss?
Did a lack of NIL cause RU to get run out of their own stadium by UMass, a team that was winless the previous season?
Did a lack of NIL cause a loss to BC, a team that was 2-10 the previous season?
Did a lack of NIL not make adjustments and blow halftime leads against Iowa, Minnesota, and Kansas State?
And bury loser Tootsie Roll too!We should give Schiano a lifetime extension for at least twice the salary and a 10% increase every year based on his institutional knowledge alone!! He can coach till he's old and feeble and manage the game on the sidelines in his hover-round scribbling in his notepad sunshield. Keep him forever and when it comes the time that he sadly passes right there on the sidelines during a game. Bury him at halftime right there at mid- field so he'll always be with us.
Had this very conversation with UCLAs head basketball coach. I said recruiting must be hard. To my surprise he said it’s much easier. The players don’t care about facilities or academics. All they care about is how much are we going to pay them. We assess their skills, assign them to a comp band, and give them a number. They accept it or don’t.Even the almighty Greg has stated as such. In one year he shifted from desperately needing a field house as a reason he can’t win to needing NIL.
What about when WVU beat Schiano 80-7?We didn’t have the right head coach in place at the time. We lost to Michigan 78-0.
When you can’t convince grown men to come work for you without a 4x pay raise. How do you expect to win recruiting battles.Had this very conversation with UCLAs head basketball coach. and that’s the problem. Schiano is getting boat raced by programs with less money, and those we have similar comp with, are destroying us. He doesn’t know what he’s doing. He could have had NW’s QB but didn’t even try. He’s lost.
I forgot that one.I still think about the Nebraska game. Did NIL not challenge the goal line call? Did NIL have a weak game plan, turning to Ben Black in the 4th quarter who was able to generate opportunities the other players couldn’t?

Trying their best? Should they be awarded a participation medal? This isnt elementary school, rec soccer. Their performance sucks. All 60+ "coaches" and the 60+ or so ancillary staff. Massive failure. But you already know that. It's entirely on US to donate more. The coaches are trying their best.
One of my talking points back then was he couldn’t compete with elite teams other than in 2006 when he had an elite team. And those were our “glory years.”
You are being serious? With more than enough resources, Greg wasnt relatively competitive against UMass and lost to BC.Such original ruminations, you must be proud. The only reason I posted here was because I think Al is right, with the proper resources HCGS can revive the Rutgers program and make it competitive . I wasn't trolling or making fun of him, as some of you board mongers have stated. Just because someone disagrees with your opinion you feel the need to criticize and attack instead of trying to respect their opinion.
He's very obviously a PSU fan who wants Schiano to stay because a new coach could potentially eat their lunch. Either that, or it's another Al alias. You are being serious? With more than enough resources, Greg wasnt relatively competitive against UMass and lost to BC.
There is some semblance of a sane argument prior to this season that SchianoYou are being serious? With more than enough resources, Greg wasnt relatively competitive against UMass and lost to BC.
The spin never ends lol!!!We don’t play with 50 other teams. We play 9 games with 17 other well capitalized Big Ten teams. Are we going to compete in the Big Ten or should we go somewhere else.
Maryland and Purdue are the only programs we can reasonably compete with. We might be able to compete with Michigan and Penn State only because they’re down. But with $425M in NIL, it’s inevitable that MSU will pass us by. Northwestern just spent over $1B in facilities. We just don’t fit in financially.
So, as per usual, you made **** up to fit your narrative. Unbelievable. No, i didn’t, but here they are.
Of the total commitment, $290 million will be used in support of Spartan Athletics as part of FOR SPARTA: The Capital Initiative for MSU Athletics, which was announced on Tuesday. This gift will accelerate MSU’s ability to compete nationally and build a sustainable foundation for long-term success, while putting college athletics on notice that Michigan State has the resources to be an industry leader.
In addition to gifts to the university, the Williamses are investing $100 million in an entity to be formed by the affiliated organization Spartan Ventures. The investment reflects a determination to see Spartan Athletics lead in an era of unprecedented change across college athletics. Spartan Ventures will serve as the revenue, innovation and development arm of MSU Athletics — creating new revenue streams, expanding strategic partnerships, enhancing student-athlete opportunities and driving long-term financial strength. This investment enables MSU to modernize and scale its approach to athletics program funding, ensuring that Spartan student-athletes have the resources, opportunities and competitive advantages they need in a rapidly evolving environment.

Greg and Dawn Williams make historic $401 million commitment to Michigan State University and Spartan Athletics
Michigan State University today announced a historic $401 million commitment from Greg and Dawn Williams. Made through the university’s “Uncommon Will, Far Better World” campaign and in support of MSU Athletics’ FOR SPARTA initiative, this is the largest single commitment in the history of MSU...msutoday.msu.edu
The only poster on this board currently out of their mind is you. YOU. The list begins and ends right there. You are 100% Looney Tunes. He regressed the past couple of years. So what. After losing our NFL draft pick qb, and not replacing talent lost to the portal, we are worse than we have been in a long time. But He rebuilt this twice, he can do it again. If you think a newbie is going to show up and rebuild this thing in short order, you’re out of your mind. Our fastest route to success is to get this class in and augment with portal talent. We can get back to winning next year.
Facts! OP is a moron just looking for attentionThe only poster on this board currently out of their mind is you. YOU. The list begins and ends right there. You are 100% Looney Tunes.
Get your mouth off of Greg’s nuts for five seconds, okay? He is THE worst HC in D1 as of today.
“The spin is strong in this one!”Till date, this hasn’t been a place that could win consistently due to the lack of financial support.
We won from 2005 to 2009, and then suffered through a rebuild season in 2010. Then we won from 2011 to 2014, then suffered through losing seasons from 2015 till 2022. Then we had winning seasons from ‘23 to ‘24. Now we’ve had a second consecutive down season. It goes with the territory. Thankfully we have someone who knows what to do to get us to where we want to be.
Greg doesn’t make the playoffs within IU’s roster last year. PERIOD. What don’t you understand?Additional support is needed to recruit, since we don’t have a competitive value proposition. It’s not like recruits fall out of a tree.

That's not a good barometer for football iqYou know so much about football, that if you left the board, no one would notice, and no one would care.

The OP called for “lifetime contract” over the summer!!!Serious question - why should anyone trust your evaluation of Schiano's value?
Maybe it's you who doesn't know any better?

If the fanbase cared about winning, they would have provided the head coach with the tools to win, such as enough NIL support and a Fieldhouse. Even the Lawrence School in Lawrence NJ has a brand new Fieldhouse, thanks to a benefactor. So there is a NJ high school with better facilities than what we have . Do you realize how disgraceful that is?The fanbase not caring about winning is not the reason for most of the losing in the past 3 seasons.
The fanbase didn't call the timeout that lost the Illinois game in 2024.
The fanbase didn't fail to prepare the team and lose to UCLA, then one of the worst teams in the B1G, that same year.
The fanbase didn't blow a two plus TD lead against Kansas State in the bowl game or give up over 300 yards rushing.
The fanbase didn't cause the second half collapses against Iowa and Minnesota in 2025, collapses that had nothing to do with funding and everything to do with the failure of the coaching staff to make adjustments.
The fanbase didn't fail to prepare the team and get boat raced at home by UMass, ( a team that was WINLESS the previous season) in a paycheck game.
The fanbase didn't lose to BC, a team that was 2-10 the previous year and beat RU with a D2 QB. They also didn't turn a formerly serviceable transfer QB and a program savior into turnover machines.
There's no mystery here. A better coach wins these games.
He brought Korey Duff and Dyzier Carter to the table. Need more of the same.He brings ZERO “value” to the table these days. NONE. Unfortunately.
Oh, the two guys that you said were gonna light up the Northwestern pass defense last week? “bombs away” IIRC?He brought Korey Duff and Dyzier Carter to the table. Need more of the same.
And you tell other people to get new one pads when you deepthroat Greg in every post. You don’t underStand the value Schiano brings to the table. Losing him would be like self imposing the death penalty. The notion is completely asinine. I don’t blame you, because you don’t know any better.
The money should have flowed in, in 2020, but it never did. So your implication that money will flow in, with a new coach, is complete nonsense. The fanbase doesn’t love Rutgers football enough to toss money its way.Maybe I understand or maybe I don't.....but that's neither here nor there as I'm not on this board nor in this thread to prove anything to you. What I do know is that like most others here, I'm unhappy with the state of Rutgers Football. It's not a "right now" dissatisfaction, rather it has been building, game by game, year by year with Schiano 2.0. I also notice not only a growing dissatisfaction, but also a higher degree of fan apathy. Fan apathy is a program killer. It will manifest in continually shrinking ratings & attendance as well as a reduction in donations.
If you're reading the room correctly you would know that the fanbase has no appetite for another rebuild under Schiano after years of mediocre to failed results. In terms of fan financial support - this is a chicken vs. egg question. Regardless of your obsessive nagging and chastising on this board, the money is not going to flow in without "hope". Like it or not, Schiano has pretty much sucked most of the "hope" out of the fanbase. You can continue making thread after thread - but it won't change the fact that you are on an island........fan dissatisfaction is now overwhelming and apathy will only continue to get worse under Schiano. A mediocre season won't help.....only a fresh start will. There are no guarantees with a new coach....but in sports you have to cut the cord on failure at some point before you lose the room.
You can now continue on with your trolling / superiority complex / spectrum induced opinions........whatever the case may be - they've become both aggressive and odd. If your goal is to have everyone here hating on you.......congracts as you're almost there.
