You don’t compare players by just comparing stats. Aberdeen was a bright spot for us last year on a team that was not good at all for the most part. This team is going to be worse and that is assuming they stay fully healthy. Zoom hasn’t done anything yet (for us).that is why you saying they are a wash at best is absurd. He’s played a single exhibition game. Aberdeen averaged 13.5 points for us, shot just under 37% from 3’s on almost 5 attempts per game. Took care of the ball in a point guard role he wasn’t even meant to play and averaged less than 2 turnovers/game and shot 80% from the line. Now you tell me what zoom has done for us (hint: you can’t because he hasn’t). He might but to say they are a wash after a single preseason game where zoom wasn’t great at all is pure delusion. Don’t care how you want to spin it.
By your logic how can you say zoom
Is worse then? Remember he hasn’t done anything for us yet.

And you think these numbers are impressive? Again, did somebody hack your profile?

These are the numbers of a guy that comes off the bench and has a good game every once in a while, because he's not the focus of the opponents defense.

Seriously, he had games with zero points, 2, 4, 3 etc… and what's funny is, you aren't showing his numbers from last year prior to conference play. Why? What am I going to find when I look? How many zero point games did he have against the cupcakes?

Again, you're better than this.
I didn’t argue this is good, I’m arguing that Wilkins won’t put up numbers this good in the SEC. People see what he did when he caught flames against UCONN and that is what they think he is. Looks at what he did against terrible competition and he makes Chandler look like an all star.

i agree....zoom played for a terrible team and just padded his stats
Can you make up your mind? You guys keep saying our team was terrible last year.

So, let me guess, Zoom thrived on a terrible team and padded his stats.

But

DA played on a terrible team and since Pope was his coach, he never got better, but apparently had 2 bad games (Purdue and MSU) and improved in every statistical category throughout the year, but still didn't improve?

Am I doing this right?

I started posting about nike funneling players to duke way back before it was even national news. It was all because nike ran usa basketball and that's where the connection was made.

We'll never get duke caliber players. They have so much money and clout, they just take whoever they want.

That said, we absolutely should be getting way more for the money we're spending. Other than Duke, we're basically willing to outspend anyone and this is what we're getting for it.
Maybe I'm wrong but it seems that their former players are really involved with recruiting efforts and that has to help. We dont seem to benefit with our former guys helping to recruit.

With Cal being at Arkansas maybe that is the reason because our former players are conflicted. We should have offered Wall a spot before he went elsewhere. Maybe the position Pelphrey just took?

Can you show me on the doll where Mark Pope hurt you and Alex Wilkins looked at you the wrong way?

not compared to all the all americans that post here every day
I think you realize you put your foot in your mouth and went too far, but you’re hanging on for dear life, hoping to get out of this conversation without looking worse than you already do. As you can see, nobody is jumping in to help you here.
I'll let you off the hook, just stop responding.

Uh, by the time conference play came around, DA was one of the best pg's in the SEC. He wasn't just average, but Zoom still had better numbers.

You'll just disappear for a while.

Very rarely does a player not improve. Justin Edwards and BJ Boston are the only two that come to mind.

I thought this waa a common sense thing, guess I was mistaken.

So I’m assuming Tennessee won’t get better after they got smoked by Xavier. Is that correct?
I wonder how their message board is after that loss? Would think there is some panic over there. Imagine thinking your program is stellar and never ever being in a FF lol. It could be worse for all of us, we could be vols fans .

I never said he was worse, but your assertion they were a wash at best is what I attacked which I have done so successfully as you have zero data to back up your claim.

I did back it up with data. Both offensively last year the same player with Zoom scoring more. Same efficiency shooting the ball as well. Idk what else you would want.

The same number of Elite Eights Dan Hurley had through two years at UConn. Now a question for you....In Hurleys entire career, how many S16s did he have through two years at UConn??? You firing him too? Now move those goalposts
You're unbelievable. Could Pope be the next Dan Hurley? I guess but he literally can't even get recruits to even commit here so I'm not sure what even gives the slight indication that could happen. I watch his teams play (Like last night), and they all look exactly the same, despite the fact that the players change each year. Somehow his inbounds "plays" are worse than Cal's.

I’d assume they are realists and know it’s an exhibition game unlike most on here. The same ones who probably said we were #1 after beating Purdue.

I really like Wilkins as a player, but I am worried his jump will be similar to what we saw Xavien Lee attempt to do last year, and it was a struggle. I think both are good players, but the physicality of the high-level D1 and SEC games may hurt them.

Wilkins will settle in. He is taller by a few inches and super quick as well. He won’t be a 40% + shooter I don’t think from 3 but if he’s 35-38 that’s great with how quick and shifty he is. He got to the paint at ease and made some passes that you don’t see many make especially with the off hand.

Zoom shot 5 percentage points worse from 3 on half the attempts and turned the ball over more in less minutes per game. There are some stats he was better in, others worse but as I have already stated comparing stats of players is a lazy man’s way of analyzing. Zooms play this year for UK will dictate if you assertion is correct, that assertion still cannot be made in good faith but if it makes you feel better about it, you can have it for now.

weird response. Taking shots at fox and monk like they didnt leave it all on the court against the crooked refs n a last second elite 8 loss. UK fans that diss players that won the sec regular season and sec tourney title and led us to 32 wins that season but prop up these players on this year's team are strange folks.

And I can promise u these guys this year arent gonna hang anything either. And it won't be close like fox and monk.
About as weird as bashing two guards who just played together for the first time in a scrimmage game .I just thought here at Kentucky it was final four or bust . Also I guess I need to lighten up on fox and monk their head coach was way overrated and a horrible bench coach and choker

Zoom also had more assists and way better 2pt %. They both played 30 mins a game. Zoom is an elite 2pt shooter at 53% on 10 attempts at Washington. That’s why I said their effective fg% is the same with zoom 1% better. Both played on teams where they had to do more than they should.

You are too optimistic on fans being realists these days lol. To me it's a great time of year especially with football doing well right now. Would be great for both programs to have solid seasons.

I agree I love the overlap. I’m an optimist in general. Season hasn’t even started so nothing to be pessimistic about imo.

Style of play imo plays a huge part in that. We don’t run a featured player friendly system. Just the way it is under pope. Hopefully. He adapts somewhat and having Mo and aboya helps that as well.

Style of play is literally mid major. I like our system but it does nothing to showcase or develop nba skill set. Combine that with a coach that's corny as hell and we have to pay a premium to get anyone.

Its all nike and has been since k took that usa basketball job. Usa basketball was run by nike and that's where the relationship was made. You can look at their recruiting after that and it is completely different.

If anyone still needs a smoking gun, just look at the special licensing agreement nike gave Marvin Bagley II AND funneled him loads of money through an aau team he owned. All so mb3 would go to duke. That's why everyone basically stopped recruiting him early in his high school career.

And zoom played on a team that finished below .500 with a weaker strength of schedule so there is that too.

I asked what the final score of the game was out of curiosity as I haven’t seen anyone post it here. I saw on Facebook we led at half 30-19. I didn’t watch the game, I know nothing about the game other than what Ive read on here which doesn’t sound good at all but what I expected. I’ve never said anything good about this upcoming season, in fact I’ve said we were going to lose 12–15 games with pope as a coach regardless of roster. Yes I was saying that well before I even knew who would end up on our team. A flex? What the fork are you talking about. I asked a simple forking question but never forking mind I’ll just look up the damn final score online as asking forking questions on here gets you absolutely forking nowhere.
Let’s not forget the 2012 team was down by 1 at the half to Little Rock in January of 2012. The final score ended up being 73-51. This was mid season rounding the corner to a championship run and not an exhibition game.

Was it me or did Milan have a look on his face like “this isn’t going to be good” all night?
It wasn’t you… Milan knows basketball, and he can find solace by looking at his bank account whenever things south.
