whats not fixable.....
- consistency from the PF spot
N'Diaye & McBride combined for 12 points and 7 boards. 4 turnovers isn't great, but that is fixable.

That guy thinks you can’t get better after exhibition game 1N'Diaye & McBride combined for 12 points and 7 boards. 4 turnovers isn't great, but that is fixable.
Duke also has people funneling kids to them that we lost a long time ago when cal pissed off nike and lost world wide Wes connection
There you go again, trashing our players.Fox and monk hang anything ?
He's a good coach and his career record/achievements is better than Popes. He went to a EE already with them and thats not a basketball school.3 years averaging 10 losses. Also tech has plenty of money if they want to use it.
Style of play imo plays a huge part in that. We don’t run a featured player friendly system. Just the way it is under pope. Hopefully. He adapts somewhat and having Mo and aboya helps that as well.I started posting about nike funneling players to duke way back before it was even national news. It was all because nike ran usa basketball and that's where the connection was made.
We'll never get duke caliber players. They have so much money and clout, they just take whoever they want.
That said, we absolutely should be getting way more for the money we're spending. Other than Duke, we're basically willing to outspend anyone and this is what we're getting for it.
It's $13.5M after the season.
LOL you were the one in the game thread complaining about the lack of offensive gimmicks like back cuts. You clown. No sh*t, tell your buddies that.
These aren't freshmen, champ. They're veterans. They looked like crap against a literal nobody. It’s October 17th and you think perfectly healthy and talented players won't improve at all?
Tell me more. This is fascinating.
This will be mark popes last year
So no one improves from first game of season in a new system with a new team? That’s a new one to me.These aren't freshmen, champ. They're veterans. They looked like crap against a literal nobody.
Nah. They do have a point though nobody is gonna schedule very weak exhibition games anymore. You're arguing that ALR is some sort of powerhouse? LOL![]()
Straw man. I didn't say that. But you're hanging your entire hat on the hope that they will get much better. You really believe, after watching that game last night, that we're better than, say, 6th in the SEC this year? Answer the question. So no one improves from first game of season in a new system with a new team? That’s a new one to me.
You're joking with this, right? Please tell me you're joking.players have months in the off season to "improve". do they? what has moreno improved on during the summer because he turned it over 4 times and couldn't post up a dude that was 6'4"?
but sure....when the season starts guys will magically get better
Man, you're better than this.Chandler won us games last year and I’ve watched Wilkins play more games than the UCONN game, if you are thinking that is what he is and what we are getting, you are gonna be so upset. Chandler hit the game winning 3, how many games last year and makes the game winning play at Tennessee and one other game. He is more athletic, can guard the ball better, is bigger and can finish at the rim better. You talk about the games where Chandler showed up, maybe you should look at what Wilkens did against lesser competition.

That 5 point performance against Bob Jones was impressive.
Yes I do. I’m not afraid to answer a question. Did you watch Tennessee or bama play? Neither looked like world beaters. Also we are better than vandy imo too. That’s 3 ranked in front of us right now.Straw man. I didn't say that. But you're hanging your entire hat on the hope that they will get much better. You really believe, after watching that game last night, that we're better than, say, 6th in the SEC this year? Answer the question.
And you think these numbers are impressive? Again, did somebody hack your profile?By the way, this is what Colin Chandler did in SEC play last year. Come talk to me after SEC with Wilkins stats.

It’s a really simple fixIt's gonna be a long season.....on this board.
So much negativity, posters are gonna pounce on Pope and the players every chance they get. No one cares, but I may not last the season.
Didn’t you just tell someone a few post ago they didn’t know ball and then proceed to say zoom and Aberdeen are a wash at best.We definitely upgraded the roster. What are you talking about. Lowe didn’t play. Johnson didn’t play. Aberdeen and zoom are a wash at best. Zoom will be better imo. Milan is better fit than Oweh seeing Oweh played the 3 for us. Wilkins is overall better than Chandler. Kam is back. Also Mason Is better than any bench guard we had last year.
Was I wrong? I made a statement that we weren't running any offensive sets. What issue are you trying to fabricate here?LOL you were the one in the game thread complaining about the lack of offensive gimmicks like back cuts. You clown.
Okay, so you're saying none of these guys are going to improve? Please say yes (you just did actually). These aren't freshmen, champ. They're veterans. They looked like crap against a literal nobody.
and that would matter if i cared about BYUGuess u didn’t watch byu last night then? Rob wright missed at minimum 3-4 and Chandler missed a few too. Preseason game 1 btw.
What did Aberdeen do that is any different than what Zoom has done? Basically same stats across the board except Zoom scored more. Also Zoom is 2 years younger. Zoom put up comparable stats to Aberdeen as a sophomore to aberdeens senior year. Please back up your claim they aren’t comparableDidn’t you just tell someone a few post ago they didn’t know ball and then proceed to say zoom and Aberdeen are a wash at best.. Good grief, the delusion on this board is just
at times with some of you.
It matters a lot if you making claims off of 1 exhibition game when guards you think are better had the same kind of mistakes.and that would matter if i cared about BYU
improve at what?Okay, so you're saying none of these guys are going to improve? Please say yes (you just did actually).
You guys are insufferable. All I can do is laugh.
Players aren’t allowed to get better in his world.Okay, so you're saying none of these guys are going to improve? Please say yes (you just did actually).
You guys are insufferable. All I can do is laugh.
I bet Pope would be proud of his using “fork” in his posts. Both dorks. You on the other hand are coming across as a mature, stable and well adjusted member of society and are totally improving the discourse here with your level headed approach.
We didn’t run much of the traditional zoom stuff. Was really just a guy out and play with some actions thrown in. Playing like that exposes you a lot more than a controlled offense. I’m assuming that’s what a coach would be glad to see so now film session shows what to work on and what they can and can’t do. These 3 games mean nothing. Just helps settle roles and rotations somewhat.Just hope they go back to the drawing board on offense and get better for TTU. Both teams looked rough
You think not being prepared and quitting to be legit excuses? You talk about that Elite 8 with reverence and pull an excuse (refs) as to why they lost, but when Pope goes to the S16 and loses with a legit excuse (injuries) you scream no excuses at Kentucky. Move those goal posts
Uh, everything.improve at what?
That other guy doesn’t like facts. He likes because I said so logic.Zoom and DA had two common opponents last year.
Zoom:
Against Purdue
14 points 8 assists
Against Michigan State
18 points 5 assists
DA
Against Purdue
9 points 3 assists
Against Michigan State
10 points 2 assists
I'll remind you, Zoom played for… .checks notes… Washington.
You don’t compare players by just comparing stats. Aberdeen was a bright spot for us last year on a team that was not good at all for the most part. This team is going to be worse and that is assuming they stay fully healthy. Zoom hasn’t done anything yet (for us).that is why you saying they are a wash at best is absurd. He’s played a single exhibition game. Aberdeen averaged 13.5 points for us, shot just under 37% from 3’s on almost 5 attempts per game. Took care of the ball in a point guard role he wasn’t even meant to play and averaged less than 2 turnovers/game and shot 80% from the line. Now you tell me what zoom has done for us (hint: you can’t because he hasn’t). He might but to say they are a wash after a single preseason game where zoom wasn’t great at all is pure delusion. Don’t care how you want to spin it.What did Aberdeen do that is any different than what Zoom has done? Basically same stats across the board except Zoom scored more. Also Zoom is 2 years younger. Zoom put up comparable stats to Aberdeen as a sophomore to aberdeens senior year. Please back up your claim they aren’t comparable
I can't believe what I'm reading. Pope has these guys so screwed up. They are coming up with anything they can dredge up to try to dunk on the guy. It’s so bad.Players aren’t allowed to get better in his world.
i agree....zoom played for a terrible team and just padded his statsZoom and DA had two common opponents last year.
Zoom:
Against Purdue
14 points 8 assists
Against Michigan State
18 points 5 assists
DA
Against Purdue
9 points 3 assists
Against Michigan State
10 points 2 assists
I'll remind you, Zoom played for… .checks notes… Washington.
oh everything. nice and generic.....but i guess everyone will improve then too. so really the improvement doesnt really change anything than.Uh, everything.
Is this a serious question?
Good points and you're right it's early and by December we will know what we have.Exactly my point. We didn't go inside is coaching. Now maybe Pope just wanted them to do whatever. I, unlike many here, am not yet concluding Pope won't be great. But this game there seemed to be no coaching and maybe that's because it was an exhibition. Who knows until we see a few more games.
Facts get in the way of their desperate need to dunk on Pope. That other guy doesn’t like facts. He likes because I said so logic.
