IIRC, the "Free Board" was on the Inside Nebraska message board. That site now no longer exists, it was shut down
Apparently the criticism of management, continual rule breaking and general dumb assery by regular contributors was no longer worth the trouble.
Possibly. But I think this was the plan from the get go when On3 bought rivals. And that plan was 1 board.

Huskerland Prep has had plenty of spam/bots in the past, so there is actually some truth to what was said about the free boards.
IMO, On3 gets more paid subscribers by doing this, since more people want to either voice their opinion, or simply read other's opinions.
I always thought that free message boards got people onto your website and that traffic helped advertising. But I guess On3 doesn't have much for outside advertising.
Ya who knows . The free board was getting out of hand with the political stuff and the Iowa Tards.

It actually creates more problems. Between bots, trolls, spam posts, and political posts, it creates several moderation issues. Then you have issues with other fan bases coming on the free board and causing issues as well. Hope that all makes sense. When we came to On3, we had a free board, btw, at first, and it got no traffic. 99 percent is on the premium boards. We had an off-topic board, and it just got ugly with politics and other issues, so we had to get rid of it.
All BS excuses for shutting down the free board. Iowa's free board is still up and running.
That's because that free board existed while other did. If you force 2 choices for people and one offers nothing new and the older is familiar. They'll chose to keep the one they are used to.
100% lame. sub is too expensive. guess ill just turn to reddit and discord. I'll definitely miss the free board though.
Agree with you on the political BS people just can’t follow common sense rules for some reason. The other fan bases coming on are annoying as hell . IMO you have to be a complete loser in life to go on another fan bases board.
Maybe a lot of the Husker Board Participants will make there way here. Lot of posters like DerHusker and PennsyHusker were fun to read and comment. Don't forget King Kong.
We tried to do a free board on HuskerOnline when we arrived. It got no activity. It made no sense to have a dead board that nobody was posting on.
This is a prep board. If you want to talk Huskers pay the subscription pretty sure Sean won’t allow this to turn into another Huskers board.
All it took was to assign one person to moderate it. Heck I coulda done it for them.
Correct, and that site has shut down. The free boad was on their site. We don't have one on HuskerOnline.
But On3 had Open Scrolls (aka the free board), right? Was it so bad it had to be shut down?
Open Scrolls still required a membership and was not free. The content being posted got to a point where Google ads flagged it and said we could not monetize the site if that page existed.
Okay, there was some free board on the Rivals/On3 website. Doesn't matter what the name was exactly.
But if you're saying that site got shut down because you couldn't monetize off of it, that's fine, just say that. We cant act like there was no activity because there was. Maybe not enough to justify keeping? But there was plenty of activity especially during games.
When we came to On3 in 2022, we had the free "Husker Board" here. Nobody posted on it. It just got spam, bots and other things posted. It was an easy call to pull the plug on it.

Dude u had one that everyone liked until last week. If u think a free board wouldn't get more traffic now that's silly.
If u want to say it wasn't worth the cost to keep someone monitoring and policing a free board and it wasn't profitable enough cool. Just say that from the start. Tons of other sites to go to.
Just the lack of transparency or this is going to be gone tomorrow guys would help. That information might have gotten me to sub. Now I most certainly will not.
I'm kind of an idiot, but there used to be a free board up until last weekend. This website is on my favorites so I could get to the free message board.

The free board was on inside Nebraska. That website shut down. HuskerOnline has not had a free board in a long time. There were two different Nebraska websites until last week.
