To think after Spring ball and this fall ball and you're just a couple days from game time and you can't figure out who your quarterback is? Inexcusable and incompetent. Or brilliance. Explain to me how naming a starter fundamentally changes the equation, particularly if both QBs are going to play anyway. Or at the least, explain how not doing so rises from something that might represent a fair difference of opinion to something that is “inexcusable and incompetent.”

Team unity so they can rally around a starter. Projecting confidence in your coaches and system. Projecting strength, confidence, and strong decision making to opponents, fans, the team. All can suffer when you are so lilly-livered after almost a year you still can't make a decision.
