Your obvious preferences make you assume I prefer Alex to Dee. What I prefer is for this team to win an NCAA team title. What I prefer is to have the best guy go. And if that means its not Dee then the coaches SHOULDNT cater to him by having him start anyway if he starts talking about leaving. A scenario which has been discussed previously on this forum (hopefully unnescessarily). And Dee beating Caliendo was huge but we saw THAT Dee fade as the season progressed. Based on NCAA placings his next best win was Ryder Downey who made the BR. Being pushed or getting a pitch count might be great for him. Let me be clear, Id love nothing more than Dee to clearly claim the spot and meet MM in the finals next year but I would equally love for Alex to do that or any Cowboy in the room. If we're to win another team title we need points and I give zero F's about whos name they call out in orange.
yeah. You're not paying attention.

Many on here have said they think a redshirt is what Dee needs. Help him develop, blah, blah, blah. But there are those of who think that would be the absolute WORST thing for him.

This has nothing to do with DT, who will let the roster battle happen. And maybe Dee does shirt if he loses to Facundo. But there is nothing going on in that room where Dee is getting any type of favorable treament.

Biggest difference was Dee faded and Facundo finished strong after a slow start. Facundo almost

I can't envision Dee transferring if he's asked to RS, especially since he probably gets his matches in anyways. I think it's more the outside influence that'll convince him otherwise.

Facundo finished strong? What do you mean?

I was mostly joking in that last comment. And to be clear I don’t have any direct sources but several on this board do so I was just repeating what they said.

and it’s true he’s really not doing anything that other coaches don’t do but spending the whole weekend of NCAAs poaching and getting commitments from transfers only to have none of those transfers actually end up at ISU is objectively hilarious.
OK got it!

Yeah man, can't just talk a good game. Christian Carroll comes to mind. Didn't he follow Perry to ISU and then bail pretty quickly?

It's weird that he's not on staff but advocating for the program.

Yeah he followed Perry. Allegedly he had some personal issues going on at the time that affected his performance along with the weight cut.

As for Perry not being officially on staff @vhsalum mentioned it earlier but he’s technically the RTC coach since he’s not officially on staff he basically has no rules to follow. He’s more useful to ISU in that role

...implied or real criticism of Cowboys should be left to others...any who do should explain to ALL of us what sport THEY could replace someone in competitions...all of us have been where we could and should have done better at something...and a hand of considerations was passed to assistance by others....best to all

It's not my obvious preferences that make me assume you prefer Alex to Dee. It's you writing and posting that you will take Alex over Dee in a match.
I think Alex could beat him in the room. Maybe not? But anyone who knows understands ranking matches arent the deciding factor its only part of it. Look at Merrill. I also think Alex could beat Ruiz who beat Dee and is coming in highly ranked next year. Can Dee jump levels? Man I sure hope so. He has more natural talent than anyone in the room most likely. But talent is everywhere. People who maximize it are rare indeed.

Tell us why it wouldnt be a good idea for him to shirt? I already know but come on out and say it.

And I never said he was getting favorable treatment, I literally asked why would he get any and that he shouldnt get any. Best guy goes and itll play itself out.

Fair. DT got on AF's azz for that loss and rightfully so.
I was a little surprised with AF's post-tourney interviews. Said things like how he had trouble bringing himself to just go for it. Seems like a mental challenge for him too. I know these tourneys are an absolute grind so it's interesting that some guys can lock in while others can't.

Please give it a rest. Especially after calling our longtime coach a "fat alcoholic snake" yesterday. I mean I don't want to be forum police but dang man. Not cool.

Nah. Gonna call it like it is. And to be fair - I called Perry a functioning alcoholic on this board when he was still on staff.

I agree people who maximize talent are rare. That's what makes you saying Facundo is better than Dee so strange. They have the same number of NCAA wins in 5 years for Facundo and 1 year for Dee. If you were saying Dee was going to lose to or be replaced by some guy who maximizes talent, then I'd shrug and move on.
