All currently enrolled athletes can "pick" which eligibility ruleset they want to use.

Also of note, next academic year is the only year that you can greyshirt.
Have heard rumors of that but haven't seen it in writing yet. My opinion it makes no sense to allow guys already enrolled to RS . And why would an athlete want to give up a year

It's in writing. That Dellinger guy posted it.

But you're right, I don't see many giving up the year. Possibly for situations where guys enrolled after 20 years old.

Just my personal opinion but Dee is fine. Dude was a top 3 recruit, lived and grew up in Oklahoma. Everywhere he went, kids were idolizing him. He goes to Oklahoma state with a ton of pressure on him to live up to the hype. Some kids struggle with the hype. Could he have done better of course, but let’s not act like he is just as talented as anyone in his weight class. His year ended about as bad as it could have ended, and I would bet that is eating at him like crazy. Dude is a competitor and got a taste of adversity. Me personally I want to see how he handles it before we ride it off and redshirt him (which will add a risk of transferring) if that happens.

I'm interested in how the Bassett situation will play out if it takes effect this year. The rule states the 5 years starts on your 19th birthday or at the time of college enrollment whichever comes first. Bo was 19 Aug 25 last year so his clock would have already started if the rule is implemented for 2026 enrollment and he would only have 4 years

Agreed. Also these days the wrestling season is year-round so if he ends up taking freestyle season off or going lightly, you could consider it redshirt-ish.

I would imagine there will be a "grace period" for that as well, and only for enrollees of this coming season. They already did for the spring sports athletes.

Since Taylor brought in Berge at 184lb through the portal for next year, do we think Ryders going down to 174 or taking a medical redshirt?
If Ryders going 174 and we get Lorenzo too, just wondering where everyone will be weight wise.

Get Norman and next year best man wins. I would like Dee to RS. He can learn a lot with a year of no pressure and expectations.

But even if he doesn’t, Dee and Facundo can fight for 165 spot. If Dee loses he should RS. Else Facundo might not wrestle this year.

...the cut of throat through internal team competition is uncomfortable in many considerations...maybe as part in the pursuit of grandeur's price, it is convenient to ignore or rationalize necessary mat "kills" along the way?,...is it a sadness best swallowed in a single gulp verses a delay by sip?....wish success to all Cowboys whether past or future...

If Dee is told he will shirt by the staff then they know something we dont. Im sure they understand the risk of him transferring if they shirt him so whatever they decide I'll trust their judgement.

Dee is going to battle Facundo for the spot. It's what he needs. He acted like he arrived after NDI, and it showed in the room and caught up to him at Nationals.

I think he rises to the challenge. Facundo aint it.

Both Alex and Dee are really talented. But keep waiting to go all out. Alex atleast started taking more shots against some low competition, but came back to mean at NCAAs. Its all mental for both these guys.

I honestly think this is who facundo is. He ain’t exactly a RS FR.

Dee had better get his social life and practice habits together.

I think he would have three years to wrestle, but I could be wrong. Redshirt sophomore this past year which he should get back due to injury. So soph, jr, and senior years left.

Yeah I would think 3 or 4. I was thinking 4 based on the 5 for 5 rule but I’m not sure how that will affect Norman.
