In other words, Dannen got played. They weren't actually interested, but Pat Kraft is good friends with Rhule and helped him get a raise and extension at Nebraska.

I guess I meant important/dream jobs.Iowa is a possibility.
NIL has made "those programs" totally lame.TL;DR "Old man yells at clouds to get off his lawn"
I’ll be honest — I’ve completely changed my mind on NIL.
At first it felt like something that could help Nebraska compete again. Instead, it just turned into the same thing as always — the biggest programs spending more, and now we’re paying more for basically the same results.
What surprised me more is how much it’s changed the feel of college football. I always preferred it over the NFL because of the traditions, continuity, and connection to the program. Now it feels like a minor league version of pro football — constant turnover, bidding wars, no real attachment to players.
Then you add in TV networks and conferences clearly prioritizing money over the fan experience — weird kickoff times, nonstop realignment — and the product just feels worse.
And the rules? They seem to change constantly, and half the time they’re applied inconsistently. It’s getting harder to even follow what’s going on.
Even things like gambling becoming more visible around the sport just add to that feeling that everything is getting more commercialized. It’s probably inevitable, but it does change how the whole thing feels as a fan.
Maybe this is just the direction of the sport, but for me it’s losing what made it special. I’m honestly just a lot less interested than I used to be.
October 10th when we host Indiana I'll focus on choosing to be positive.
Right???? This might even be one of those stupid lines like IU -13Im positive I'll be betting Indiana
Ferentz retires after this year, we keep proven LOSER and moron Rhule, Iowa hires Vigen, improves immediately and wins the Big Ten title in his 2nd year. You all know this is coming lolWould love Vigen at NU. But history says the admin will have there thumb up there *** keeps Rhule one more year and someone else snatches Vigen him up.
LOL Holy cope. Just quit making excuses and accept that Matt Rhule is an average to bad coach. His record spells that out perfectly.TL;DR "Old man yells at clouds to get off his lawn"

I think we might actually see a Jonestown event on these boards if that happens.Ferentz retires after this year, we keep proven LOSER and moron Rhule, Iowa hires Vigen, improves immediately and wins the Big Ten title in his 2nd year. You all know this is coming lol
Yeah I agree I see that playing out exactly like that. Iowa urges KKK to move in and retire and snatch Vigen while NU worthless admin continues to play blind checkersFerentz retires after this year, we keep proven LOSER and moron Rhule, Iowa hires Vigen, improves immediately and wins the Big Ten title in his 2nd year. You all know this is coming lol
I know, that's why I chose that metaphor for you.Cruises are for posers
It was neat to see the tournament run but we were basically .500 the last 1/3 of the season. Only made the sweet 16, lost to Iowa, and lost partially because coach couldn't get 5 guys on the court in crunch time. The "special" nature of the season is mostly to do with us being the worst program in the history of the NCAA. So, don't take a victory dance because we barely made the top 20. Fred should have been fired, but there is a probability that in any one season, with a lot of experience, stability that a team will play a soft schedule, go 20-0, and then ride that to a decent seed, which gives favorable matchups in the first few rounds. But all of those teams fall back to earth eventually.Kong why didn’t you start the post, I hate Matt Rhule or any coach that doesn’t meet your approval, just a reminder you wanted Fred fired two or three years ago
Nebraska gets plenty of $$$ from the B1G.There’s no way I’d buy Rhule out. Ride it out. Don’t be paying for two or three coaches at the same time. Nebraska has thrown good money after bad for a long time. We haven’t been competitive for a long time. Indiana wasnt competitive for a long time. Then they hit the lottery. When Rhule is one and done, the AD needs to find a new coach. Pay him the big money, but don’t hamstring everything because you are still paying the ex coach big money.
When Rhule is shown the door and walks away with a golden parachute that's $21 million larger than it should have been, it will be hilarious watching his apologists try to explain it away. They weren't actually interested, but Pat Kraft is good friends with Rhule and helped him get a raise and extension at Nebraska.
Who are his apologists? When Rhule is shown the door and walks away with a golden parachute that's $21 million larger than it should have been, it will be hilarious watching his apologists try to explain it away.
You can start with the people who suddenly discovered that Nebraska has a basketball team, and concluded that Fred Hoiberg having a good season means their buddy is surely next.Who are his apologists?
When kkk retires Iowa will hire another former Iowa playerFerentz retires after this year, we keep proven LOSER and moron Rhule, Iowa hires Vigen, improves immediately and wins the Big Ten title in his 2nd year. You all know this is coming lol
I'd like to see Holgorsen get half a season as HC.There’s no way I’d buy Rhule out. Ride it out. Don’t be paying for two or three coaches at the same time. We're not at a place to make fun of who they might hypothetically hire since they have owned us for a decade. When kkk retires Iowa will hire another former Iowa player
Excuse me I can make fun of Iowa all I want they have sucked and always willWe're not at a place to make fun of who they might hypothetically hire since they have owned us for a decade.
They'll probably hire Polasek who isn't far behind Vigen and would be a great hire for them.
We better hope they're not smart enough to do that
Being rich and becoming rich are two different things. There are WAY too many people with WAY too much money. There are billions of dollars of private money being wasted every year to win college football games, money that is donated with no promise of % return. Giving millions to win a few more football games is literally the worst investment possible but big donor after big donor does it because they are already rich and far beyond going poor.Rich people got rich and stay rich because they value money and do not want to send it into a loser program. They know a crap investment when they see one. They can also see through the bullsh$t lies of a snake oil salesman. Sorry Matt but unless you manage to put a quality product on the field this year you are toast. Who even listens to him anymore?
These guys are trying all the can to make hype around a pile ofI wonder how Ravi and Damon will defend this. Damon will feed listeners a word casserole mixed with "you don't understand this like I do" and "Coach Rhule and I understand this like no other". Ravi will use his YMCA coaching experience as his soapbox.
You're absolutely free to be retarded.Excuse me I can make fun of Iowa all I want they have sucked and always will
Correct. In other words, Dannen got played.

Dana is washedI'd like to see Holgorsen get half a season as HC.
He has always been a much better coach than Rhule
This is sad and I hope not true but his body of work at Nebraska makes a strong case for it. This will be a make or break year for a lot of people - Dana included.Dana is washed
Anyone who’s agreed to work or play for Rhule has sucked with very few exceptionsThis is sad and I hope not true but his body of work at Nebraska makes a strong case for it. This will be a make or break year for a lot of people - Dana included.
I am shocked it even came out to 1,666. But it does a great job showing just how rich some people are!Exactly. So many people don't understand this because they can't fathom what it's like to have that kind of wealth. Let's just use the Mark Cuban with Indiana situation that's been discussed in another thread...
Undisclosed actual amounts, but for hypothetical reasons, let's say that we spent $20M on total NIL and Cuban spent that just on his own (to add to their normal NIL bringing their total much higher than ours). Mark Cuban's current net worth is reported to be $6B. For him to donate $20M, here's what that looks like to a regular schlub...
Your net worth = $500,000 ------ Equivalent donation = $1,666.66
He's too online at the minimum, getting into arguments with internet randos and Wilson Dittman.Anyone who’s agreed to work or play for Rhule has sucked with very few exceptions
Trae Taylor is going to suck, too. Kid’s a weirdo.
We need a completely fresh start. Yesterday.
Ha...sounds like all of us!He's too online at the minimum, getting into arguments with internet randos and Wilson Dittman.
Amazing what can happen when your first year includes beating some teams with a pulse and not going 0-4 in November.Cuban and Mellencamp combined have put in 60M into the Indiana program after Cignetti 1st year..
He might be, he might not be.Dana is washed
