Amazing what can happen when your first year includes beating some teams with a pulse and not going 0-4 in November.
Rhule could have generated some excitement and optimism with recruits about the future of the program if he had at least gone to a bowl game his first year. And it was very achievable even with his mediocre coaching staff and weak quarterback room. But a few bad decisions here and there resulted in a losing season, and he really hasn't overcome that yet.

He really had me fooled when we went into Champaign, IL and pushed around fat Bret.

I thought we had finally turned the corner and became an actual B1G team.

We really underestimated the pure grit of HH and coach White.

Anyone who’s agreed to work or play for Rhule has sucked with very few exceptions

Trae Taylor is going to suck, too. Kid’s a weirdo.

We need a completely fresh start. Yesterday.

He's too online at the minimum, getting into arguments with internet randos and Wilson Dittman.

His dad (supposedly) has come here to argue with some of us randos.

I kind of agree that I don't really feel good about a kid if they choose NU right now unless they are being paid well. If they choose Rhule out of "logic" I have some serious doubts about their other offers or their mental capacity or support systems. Just a sad state we are in. I just tell myself that we were the highest offer and that is the justification for a really talented guy choosing us. Probably not true though.

Rhule has to be kidding himself. We are a top 30ish NIL program. We aren't going to be able to outspend everyone, which seems like his strategy. The man lliterally said "Why can't we be like Texas Tech." And im like cause we don't have oil tycoons here. Unless he plans on getting Warren Buffet to just open checkbooks he's never gonna outcompete them. Better figure out how to get them to compete without having the most expensive roster.

As Athletic Director Troy Dannen reiterated Friday, it’s no longer legal for rank-and-file fans to simply write a check to an NIL collective that goes to the team. But businessowners and deals with third-party entities are still key in how other schools are assembling rosters north of $40 million when a school’s revenue-sharing limit across all sports is technically capped at $20.5 million.
“Those numbers are all very real,” Rhule said. “It’s not made up. It’s probably underestimated, to be quite honest with you.”
Rhule said he is spending “50%” of his time in the offseason dealing with the financial part of NIL related to roster building. That’s fundraising. Brainstorming with donors on potential player deals. He’s traveling the country engaging wealthy fans. All coaches are, he said — they must generate revenue for their teams.

The NIL trap. Let's just go out and try to buy a team. All fine and dandy, until you actually have to field a team. And get curb stomped when they run into the heart of league play. Facts are facts. Fact number one, we do not and will not have a huge NIL budget. Fact number two, in spite of what our coach said, we did not and do not have the resources to compete for the "BEST" players. Not when you have to plug holes everywhere on your team by bringing in 17 portal guys. Fact number three, given #1 and # 2 the only way you will ever hope to gain long term success is to develop recruits, make the culture one where players do not want to leave, and then take the NIL you do have to lure 4-5 TOP portal guys to help you. Had we done that we could have brought in a top QB, D linemen, Running back, and either an edge or CB. Now if these two new hires ( O Line and DC ) are good hires maybe we can work toward that.
