Wrestled at PSU, maybe for 2 years. Wrestled a handful of dual matches.A little longer ago, Matt Gerhard. 4 timer not sure what he even did in college.

I very quickly voted for Nolf, thinking that without the injury default he would have had 2 losses, highest bonus percentage and most pins. Then I started thinking about it a little bit more. Without the injury, Ruth is probably a 4 time champ and Zain was in my opinion the most dominant of the 4 and his losses were all as a true freshman. It's crazy that I would put Nickal 4th on the list, when he would be #1 at most other programs. They were all so good.
I will say that this time next year, I plan to vote for Messenbrink
Swimmers unite.I never wrestled ( other than being rag dolled by Jan Johnson Sr at Saturday morning wrestling....I took up swimming ) but appreciate the terrible toll wrestling can have on one's body. Staying healthy is huge.
One name recently of a guy who never matched the hype was Paddy Gallagher. Super high expectations and the kid is a heck of a good wrestler, but he never aligned with expectation. Of course, few do because the competition is so fierce, kids bodies are still changing and sometimes guys have to take one for the team. Of course the projections around high school athletes is insane.
I am not trying to criticize up the tOSU recruiting hype machine either.
Not so sure about #4. What really cheats the audience, much more than a quick TF, are the far too frequent non-action snooze-fests. Such as the typical Will Lewan bouts. The only question will be how many pins MM gets for his career. He went all of 24-25 without a FALL, but smoked almost everbody.
Messenbrink is exhibit A why the TF point criteria should have been raised to 18 or 20 if the TD is going to be 3 points. That of course assumes that we must have the damn thing. In a world where I am supreme wrestling dictator, the tech fall is buried on the ash heap of history and we bring back the superior decision.
Ending matches early has a couple effects:
1.) Spares an inferior opponent the possibility of a Rob Rohn win.
2.) Cheats a superior wrestler out a pin-especially high pace guys like Mesenbrink.
3.) Devalues the FALL which should always be the objective of wrestling.
4.) Cheats the audience. One of these days, there's going to be a dual meet where the aggregate time wrestled is 40 minutes, because five matches are TF's in the first or early second period.
That's 30 min for Angelo Ferrari, and 10 min for the other 9 matches combined.4.) Cheats the audience. One of these days, there's going to be a dual meet where the aggregate time wrestled is 40 minutes, because five matches are TF's in the first or early second period.
In HS? 5 losses, 4 in his FR year and then 1 to Snyder as a JR.How many losses did Thomas Haines have?

Just to clarify. We have moved on past most overrated wrestlers. Everyone we are mentioning now is very accomplishe
That’s fair. In that regard though, you could probably say the same about David Taylor. Crazy good, won 2 lost 2 in NCAA Finals. Here's one who is both accomplished and overrated: Gable Steveson. As a freshman people had him as the next 4 time undefeated champ.
Crawford could cradle you from the locker room it was insane lolThe Crawford/Tashner Regional match was one of the most exciting high school match I ever saw. I think Crawford lost his first match his freshman year and then won 120 plus in a row. Tashner caught Crawford in 3rd and put him on his back for about a minute.I think Gene Wass was the official and he kept on looking but never slapped the mat. Crawford eventually squirmed out and almost tied the match.
