Damn RIP. Thank you for the dinner and a very pleasant evening
GREAT ACTOR !!! Sad to hear this.
When you lose a Hackman and a Duvall so close together....man. Two of the best that may never be replaced.
So many great movies his whole career. Onevof his last big films was Open Range and one of my favorites with him. Just a truly great actor thru 5 decades!
Sadly I know Clints likely anytime now that will be ever sadder.

Rest in Peace, legend!
Open Range is underrated and overly awesome!
Excellent movie.
Excellent movie.
Man what a bummer. You know its coming along with Clint eventually but I sure hate losing legends. Open Range was phenomenal.
The Apostle was virtuoso writing. Should have won the Oscar that year for best actor, and finished second to Nicholson's forgettable role in As Good As It Gets. Duvall told Jack before the Oscars that he would win because it was "political." Can't forget what he did in Lonesome Dove or Sling Blade either. He was my favorite actor of all time and the only actor I wanted to meet.
We'll never see anyone like him ever again.

This is from the season in his life when he was researching for The Apotle. He said he had an intimate interaction with Christ. Powerful stuff:
"I wasn’t getting anywhere with Hollywood, yet my work on the movie filled my soul. One Sunday in New York I visited six churches, ending up at Harlem’s vast Abyssinian Baptist Church.
There in a packed congregation before a huge choir, when we all began to sing 'What a Friend We Have in Jesus,' I found myself connected to the Lord in a way I had never felt before, deep within me." - Robert Duvall, 1998.

He upstaged everyone in the movie Days of Thunder
I went ahead and fixed that for you.
Amazing actor. So many classic roles.
RIP legend
Too bad you couldn’t raise Carl to keep from hacking everyone up with sling blades.

Some people call it a sling blade, I call it a Kaiser blade.
Sling Blade and The Apostle were probably as close as you can get to perfect writing, character development, and realism. Incredible films.
Makes me sad that we don't see films (or actors) like this anymore.
Absolute legend. Kick a pig for me, Gus.
"Bye gawd, Woodrow, it's been quite a party, hadn't it?"
Great Santini was a good one.
Hell he was great in pretty much anything he was in.
