I don't know why I'm getting drawn into this conversation but I can only assume you are using an absurdly large definition here. Many of the mass shootings are carried about by white nationalists obsessed with great replacement theory are racism (Charleston, Tree of Life, El Paso, Buffalo). However many other shooters (Columbine, Sandy Hook, Uvalde, this one) are just your psychos
No, that's not even close to accurate.

Very few mass shootings are carried out by white nationalists. The liberal media just loves to scare you, because when you're scared, you're easier to control, so they report about those few incidents for weeks and even months after the fact.

Liberals carry out 99% of the mass shootings in America, but the media ignores those ones, because insanity.

Uncertain of the accuracy, but the pics coming out surely don’t speak well for a certain sector. Mental illness abounds.

Imagine that, another trans sicko that’s been coddled and brainwashed even more so by the left ends up, shooting up innocent Christians. The militant trans have been the leading terrorist in this country over the last five years. Don’t blame guns blame the evil sick pieces of dung that are committing these acts, if it weren’t a gun, they’d use a bomb or vehicle or ax or whatever they could get their hands on. The weapons are not the problem. It’s the sick mind. It’s time to label these trans groups, terrorist organizations.

So we sit through three pages of liberals circle, jerking each other only to find out one of their own committed this. A diehard liberal aimed a weapon at innocent children and killed them simply because they were a Christian praying.

I know you guys don't care but a lot of the images make it seem like the individual was associated with a satanic Neo Nazi group known as "Order of Nine Angels". Their manifesto and other writings make reference to killing hispanics, that the Holocaust didn't go far enough, that sort of thing. ONA people post online to get mentally ill people to commit acts of violence and terrorism

What is the distinction in the definition of these two terms as used here?
Gun only vs all weapon (car, knife, etc.)

The US is far more likely to use a gun. Europe is far more likely to use a car (public square) or knife (public transit).

This country does not give a **** about children unless they’re inside the mother’s stomach. Once they are out this country doesnt care if they are housed, if they are fed, if they have proper schooling, and even if they’re dead.

So much for ******* pro life.

If I tell you that you're going to have to walk into a movie theater with someone with an AR-15 or someone with a machete, I'm pretty sure you'll take your chances with the machete. Come on, man.
Using that logic, I'd feel much safer in a movie theater in the most dangerous city in the US than public transportation in Europe. The chances of a mass casualty event in the first is almost negligible. 3 people stabbed in a European subway isn't even newsworthy.

I'm talking about your stereotypical mass shooting event that we all think of, not the definition used by the FBI or CDC. By the latter two definitions yes, shootings involving gangs are far more common

Can you tell us the impact the Federal Assault Weapons Ban had on the number of public mass shootings and what happened to those numbers after the ban was lifted?

Can you tell me whether gun violence incidents are higher or lower in states that have stricter gun laws than states that don't?

It is my understanding the research regarding the impact of stricter gun laws on gun violence demonstrably shows such violence is lower where there are stricter gun laws. you infer there is no such evidence.

Can you tell me what actual policy solutions/bills the Republicans have put up recently to address this epidemic of gun violence?
You are dead wrong on that point. Which states have the most gun violence? The ones with the strictest gun laws.

Now, you have to have a functional brain and some critical thinking skills to sift through all the crap statistics that the media will try to confuse you with, but it's not up for debate or discussion, less gun laws equals more safety from guns. The media will frame the statistics in a misleading way, so you cannot just read the headline, you have to read the whole article.

They use things like "per capita", include suicide, and various other tactics to hide the truth. The truth that liberalism is a plague resulting in nothing but pain and misery.

Let’s keep it real. When a man can’t figure out that he’s not supposed to have sex with the same sex, or even worse when a male or female thinks they’re the opposite sex, they’re mentally ill and likely unstable. The medical community looked at this correctly until the mid 90s when the AMA was infiltrated by a liberal gays. Instead of getting these people help a segment of the population has cuddled them, encouraged their deviant behavior and now we have these idiots shooting up innocent people. I’ve got my popcorn ready trying to watch you butt monkeys try to spin this.
It is absolutely time to make a change! It’s time that we take mental health afflictions serious instead of applauding them. I know someone that is scared of their own minor son and can’t find anywhere in the country that they can commit him to. They have spent a lot of money on lawyers and drs begging for help bc they know what he is capable of to no avail. Other countries don’t worry about feelings when it comes to mental health, they put the unwell away and attempt to help them like we used to do. Instead, now we think it’s an honorable thing to want to be a different sex, or want to svit in a litter box until their mental health issues boil over into being violent and wanting to hurt the non afflicted. You’re damn right it’s time for change it just doesn’t have anything to do with guns.
I agree with you. Now, are you ready and willing to support the designation of trans people as mentally ill and possibly unstable? Because there in lies the issue in many cases, including this one. There are many types of mental illness that can be dangerous, trans identifying people are proving to be some of the most dangerous.

Unfortunately, this sounds very similar to the shooting in Nashville at the private preschool a couple of years ago .
And in that case, the Biden administration and his FBI and DOJ hid the fact and never to my knowledge released the manifesto that was left by the lbgtq nut job that committed the mass killing.

Which definition are you using for mass shooting? The FBI's or Congressional Research Service's? Perhaps you are using liberal academics who have their own definition for mass shooting? Maybe you like Gun Violence Archive's explanation?

Lets look at Chicago, a place known for gangs, shootings and killings:
Based on the 24 mass shooting incidents noted in 2023 and the other documented events, we can reasonably estimate that Chicago has experienced at least 100–120 mass shooting incidents (as defined by GVA) over the past five years.

That said, this is a conservative estimate, and the true number could be higher.
(According to Chat GPT)

There isn't an agreed upon of what a "Mass Shooting" is.
Again, this is the only country in the world where children are regularly shot in schools and you want to argue over the definition of a mass shooting.

He also conveniently ignores that we had a garden variety married Christian white guy MAGA nutjob who wrote a manifesto and then dressed up like a cop so he could go murder Dem politicians in their homes in MN a couple months back.

I mean it literally happened in the same state and this guy is trying to go that route. These people are depressingly disingenuous. It's really sad.

Why exactly is that not the way to go? Why wouldn't we want to protect the children at all costs? I'm sure Israel has found ways to protect their school children while at school.

Universal background checks, safe storage laws, red flag laws, mental health screenings, that sort of thing.

I don't own a firearm. I never will. But I have no problem with responsible gun owners, especially hunters
I wouldn't have a problem with any of these, as long as there are limits on how long the government has to complete the checks. Can't set up a system where a governmental entity basically creates a de facto ban by slow playing background checks etc.

And I would add allow coordination between police and certain health related data.

Yes, there needs to be timeliness. Also think cross agency cooperation is very important and while it has gotten better (look at how different agencies handled serial killers) it still isn't good enough

No, I see human life as precious and sacred, and I’m willing to call a problem a problem. I’m not the one who introduced politics and created it as a opportunity to score political points. Your side did. Now that it’s one of your own that did this you want to come crying and name-calling and throwing around insults. Maybe you should corral some of that vitriol and aim it towards the people who are committing these acts. You seem more upset that one of your co-Democrats did this then you are that innocent Christian children were killed. Your fourth grade insults don’t change the fact that one of your like-minded political allies did this.

One school shooting is too many. But i dont think understanding the definitions you are using in this "debate" is too much to ask. If you want debate, then lets have the debate.
If all you want to do is rail on one political party and scream "We have to do something" then dont worry about the finer points of the discussion.

There was a big lawsuit here in Mecklenburg County about something like this. The sheriff was really slow with issuing CCP. The lawsuit alleged he was finding new ways to delay permits. It was eventually settled.

If you'd bothered to actually read what I posted, it's posted in plain text on the study.

[1] Public mass shootings are incidents in a public or populated location involving at least some victims who were targeted at random and/or for their symbolic value. Public attacks exclude a family or felony mass shooting, as well as incidents involving state-sponsored violence, battles over sovereignty, or organized terrorism. While these other attacks are equally tragic to public incidents, they are inherently different forms of the phenomenon.

[2] Completed mass shootings are incidents involving four or more victim fatalities. Large-scale global examinations often use the completed criteria to avoid missing cases, which can skew comparisons across countries.

[3] The number of public mass shootings in each of these countries between 2000 and 2022 included 21 in Russia, 9 in Yemen, 8 in the Philippines, and 8 in Uganda.

[4] These comparative countries similar to the United States are drawn from the United Nations’ criteria for “developed countries.”

[5] After the three incidents in Finland, the Finnish government issued new firearm guidelines for handguns and revolvers, which were the primary firearms during these attacks. Applicants for handgun licenses must now be active gun club members and vetted by their doctor and law enforcement.

[6] This data excludes the January 2015 and November 2015 shootings in France, which were perpetrated by organized terrorist groups.

[7] The term “assault weapons” commonly refers to semiautomatic or automatic firearms.

Well, by the same logic

The suspect used a guy. Nothing else matters to them.
I'm more concerned about how we solve the mental health crisis in this country. The political temperature is way too hot but there's no putting the toothpaste back in the tube with social media and the internet. Same with guns, IMO.

We've had opportunity after opportunity to make real progress and our society doesn't care. We'll be real mad about it today and then after a few weeks, business as usual. Then it'll happen again somewhere else. Rinse and repeat.

One thing that seems to be clear is the good old USA is the only place this kind of thing happens. And we've done nothing about it. We should all be ashamed that let it continue.
