I'd be super duper shocked if Frank left this season. His two years (at least) at Duke is part of what his family wants. Like I said, super shocked if he left.
I agree, I would be shocked as well, just letting everyone know what I have heard.

What stinks is that the bad news is likely factual, as in someone knows that someone is leaving, whereas the "sun will come out" is likely optimism, given that nobody knows where anyone is truly going to school.

No one should be surprised if Duke has a "mass exodus." A lot of pressure is put on the staff, and if K does not fill those spots back, then that's added strain on returning guys, who haven't truly shown what they can do. Expect the worst, hope for the best.

TCU and Texas are the rumored destinations for the big man but wouldnt shut the door on NBA completely with his size.

If it's those two next it would not come as any sort of shock.

It's all gonna be okay. Weather the storm. We are going to field a competitive team next season no matter what!

I trust in Show! :)

Being competitive and being Duke are 2 completely different things.

If Bolden is leaving I cannot say that I blame him. It is hard to develop any consistency without playing time. Being pulled quickly when you make a mistake is not going to develop anyone.

I doubt we are going to be "Duke" next year. But who knows... maybe a team with limited expectations might be more fun to watch than one with monster expectations?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bolden leave. As others have said, he probably wanted this year to go different in a lot of ways. He is still a specimen and would get considerations from the NBA simply because of his size. And he can play. I truly believe he wasn't giving something that the staff insisted he show to earn PT (and I think it was probably effort in practice).
I would be really shocked if Frank leaves. On my prediction list, I'd put him less likely to leave than Grayson, Luke, Bolden and maybe even Javin. I just don't see why he would leave (unless he makes a hell of a run during the leadup to the draft and someone with the NBA says he'll go in the first round). This would be a much bigger hit than the others because it's really unexpected and he gave us more than some others.

Yeah...What does being Duke mean? There will be enough talent to win the ACC if they play well. Looking at the FF this year there's enough talent to make it that far too. Now getting them all to play well...That's a different story...But imo being Duke means we ALWAYS have a chance, which is more than most can say.

Jesus Christ Dude, whats it like being a human Quaalude? We can't be Duke with quite possibly Trevon Duval, Gary Trent Jr., Alex O'Connell, Wendell Carter Jr., Javin Delaurier and possibly even Kevin Knox? Do you EVER go the optimistic route?

Not for nothing some of these posts belong on THR. If they started a thread mocking us they would have the first page full for sure.

Everyone thought 99-00 was going to be down, that turned out pretty good, although that team had Battier and James to lead. It's not like Duke goes to the final four every year, they've missed out more times than not, but if Duval comes along with what we have, especially if one of Luke or Grayson comes back, they will still be a team to be reckoned with, possibly even better than this year.
I think too much pressure with the added injuries and other issues pinned this team down too much, next year's team won't have that label as the #1 preseason team and hopefully no injuries.

He'll go anyway but I don't get Bolden leaving if the draft isn't an option. Here's a guy projected OAD. A transfer sets those plans off ( at least! ) another year. It ain't me but seems like another season at Duke ( actually PLAYING this time ) expedites the NBA plans more so than a year sitting out then another on top of that auditioning for the league. Pointless speculation anyway. Gone.

Shouldn't worry about anyone. It's pretty obvious in this thread that the feeling is that Ques is leaving. Not a huge shock.

But Grayson and Luke!! If we somehow pulled one back I think we'll be fine. If not we need some freshmen STARS

Bolden leaving would be alarming because the playing time is there to be had next year. This year was a struggle with the early injury and being stuck behind Amile and really only having a legitimate shot at beating out Harry for his rotational time. Next year no Amile no Harry and even no Chase. My only guess would be that he has soured on Duke whether it's the environment staff or system altogether.

Probably soured because he was a top 10 player with talent that was never given even a glimmer of hope of getting to play. He might as well leave he got treated terrible IMO and I know I'm not in the practices but maybe if you give players a chance in a game they'll bust it harder in practice if they're actually not already doing so

IMO Bolden didn't "earn" playing time and now has hurt feelings because his entire life everyone has told him how great he is and now he is gonna take his ball and run

Just my opinion on him

Who cares?

The members of the board who stand loyal behind our coach and players and don't turn on someone or something the moment our instant gratification desires aren't fulfilled. Coach K did nothing this year that he hasn't done every year up to this point. He plays a small rotation of players and they are the players that he thinks can help win the most amount of games. For years people have been complaining that he wasn't recruiting well enough, that we weren't landing enough top talent. Now that we have been killing it on the recruitment side of things people are complaining that we don't recruit enough long term players.

Do I disagree with certain decisions that K makes, sure. But I am not going to criticize a guy that has won over 1000 games and 5 national championships and ask him to all of a sudden make radical changes when everything he stands for as a coach has been so successful. The sky isn't falling duke is still Duke and anyone that thinks otherwise is a type of Duke fan that I despise. Those are my .02.

I believe players earn time in practice and make the most of their opportunities when presented and you think star ratings entitle players to a minimum amount of time. We obviously have very different takes. Thankfully you don't want us recruiting one and done players (at least for now) so if all goes according to your plan we won't have to have this debate going forward.

I think its just fairly safe to say most were stunned this group didnt go further, esp after the way they played in ACC Tourney.

Who said I didn't want to recruit them? I said you can't rely on them as a staple of a title run and you can't. Two straight final 4s 0 one and dones and only twice have a one and done won it all... stats are on my side as much as you don't want them to be

I honestly can't say if he was underused, but I do disagree with the statement that he wasn't given a glimmer of hope of getting to play. He had every day in practice to earn it. He apparently didn't. I trust the guys that see him every day.
