If you were a coach and older man put his hands on your players then told u to get the **** out of his with a puffed chest, youd prob slap him too
If I was making 5 million a year and one of the core responsibilities of my position was to develop and show leadership as the head of the program, there isn't a 1% chance i'd slap him. Would I be pissed? Yes...........would I want to slap him? Perhaps...............but I wouldn't and that would always be the right move. I mean Jesus Christ, Steve Pikiell is the biggest sweetheart of a coach there is but it sure doesn't translate to a "soft player culture" in our program. Our team is made up of the toughest, grittiest bastards in college basketball. That's how you lead! Howard is a disgrace.

Michigan needs to be proactive and suspend Howard for year or terminate him. Howard needs help and has anger management issues. He’s trying his best to emulate bully mentality of Georgetown from big east and his fab 5 days No need for this recurring type of behavior especially in college Athletics.

Yeah two coaches unhappy with each other. What's your point? That Howard's actions are somehow justifiable?
Gard didn't push him first. First, Howard grabbed Gard by the shirt. Gard clearly didn't like that and told him to take his hands off, because Howard gave the open palm universally accepted "my bad." Then Howard pointed his finger and put it right into Gard again.

There's little doubt in my view that Howard is done (in that he will be fired within the next 24 hours).

Howard lost it because even though he guided Michigan to the elite 8 last year , this years team is far from the type of program Wolverine MBB fans came to expect from John Beilein
and the type of season Michigan is having this year is unacceptable to them
The truth is Howard lost his cool because can't handle the pressure of seeing his program looking like it's not living up to the standards Beilein set.
Juwan might be the type that can accept a little setback when things are going well and can act gracious after an occasional loss , but fails to act like a leader when he sees his program not preforming like expected and starts wondering if he can turn it around before he loses his hob.

KYK is talking about the Big East Conference in the late 80s and 90s. They had many confrontations, fights and near brawls.

But, this is NO comparison. This was a head coach slapping another coach in the handshake line.

Competitor issue.
Wisconsin started it. It was kind of bush league, 73-57, Chuckie hitting the 3, celebrating, and the timeout called, started the ugliest that with fouling a few times at the end.

Chuckie didn't need to take the 3 with 5 on the clock up 16 or time out didn't need to be called. This is a regular season game, not getting guys in to play in a tournament game or anything special. Gard started that BS, Juwan Howard was justified in his responses to what Gard did until the punch thrown.
Man U are as dumb as Kyk. He’s gone

Howard offered no apology at the post game presser. Makes it even worse. He should have at least immediately realized he can't be hitting another coach and apologizing

Coaches can't take swings at anyone. Ever. It's not complicated lol

Wisconsin overall did a decent job keeping their cool. Only one player I saw from them threw fists. That is pretty good considering Howard being in Gard's face and Howard hitting another coach. Diabete throwing fists too.

It's not easy for athletes in a competition at those ages to show self control. It could have gotten much much worse

Players can throw punches all they want. Wish basketball was more physical. Coaches can’t. He needs to be gone.

That guy who wanted to fight us was Diabate who was one of the two I saw just throw punches. He won’t be playing on Wednesday.
I hope you are right. But this is UM. Howard was not suspened last year after the Maryland coach incident. We will see if the B1G protects big blue again.

I doubt it. Legacy guy and minority at a very woke school. Most likely he gets some anger management help.
It will be the boosters supporting him. The woke part of the university does not like any coach and especially one that acts like Howard. They will want him out.

Think some of the boosters will see the writing on the wall and think best to part ways now. Martelli coaching 5 star talents not such a bad thing.

That's 48.6 seconds less for their starters to get hurt (see RHJ) and to let them be acknowledged by the home crowd. Routine protocol, not bush league.

Wisconsin athletic director Chris McIntosh, who addressed the media after the game, said he has been in contact with Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren about the incident and expects the league to act "swiftly and aggressively".

"We've got staff who have been affected and injured," he said. "It's difficult for me to compose myself in defense of our staff and our team, who did not instigate this event. That is clearly captured on the television feed today and I'm not sure what will take long to address this."

It's not senior day, it's not their last home game. Up 19 with 48.6, no one went for career day to get a standing O from the crowd, nothing would have happened if he didn't call a TO. Bush league. If Michigan did it, it would have been bush league too. Gard wouldn't want to shake Juwan's hand, Juwan wouldn't have forced a handshake in the team line.

"I didn't like the timeout they called, and I'm being totally honest with you," Howard said. "I thought it was not necessary at that moment, especially with it being a large lead. ... I thought that wasn't fair to our guys. And so that's what happened."

The Badgers were up 15 when Gard took a timeout with 15 seconds left.

"Apparently he didn't like that I called the timeout to reset the 10-second call. Because we only had four seconds to get the ball over half court," Gard told CBS. "I didn't want to put my backups -- I had all my bench guys in the game -- I didn't want to put them in that position of scrambling with only four seconds. So I took a timeout and got us a new 10 seconds and it helped them get organized and get the ball in. And he did not like that when he came through the handshake line. I'll leave it at that and the tape will show the rest."

How can KYK make so many stupid comments? Howard should be banished from coaching in college and Diatabe should miss a few games plus anyone else who threw punches. I coached high school sports for 40 years and my team won several Sportsmanship Awards. I am proud of that. Win or lose you don't start a brawl. Howard is at least 6'10" or taller and Coach Gard is what about 5'8" or so. What a great representative for Michigan. Michigan gave one of our guys a cheap and hard foul with only a few seconds left when the game was over and Diatabe went nuts at our handshake line as well. Obviously some Michigan people have some anger management issues.

Got a feeling Howard will not be able to escape this latest display of poor leadership and criminal behavior. This will not be swept away by the B1G as it was on national TV with the incident fully captured. Warren will need to address this Monday. Only question will be the length of the suspensions for Howard and any player who threw punches.
