Illinois had some sketchy losses earlier...losing to Missouri and Miami which was at home are just flat out bad losses. Their non conference sos of 212 factors in as well
Ok, I can see that. What’s your take on OSU and MSU? (PS, as I write this, OSU is down by 20 points at Wisconsin)Illinois had some sketchy losses earlier...losing to Missouri and Miami which was at home are just flat out bad losses. Their non conference sos of 212 factors in as well
We are almost in the tourney and playing for a 6 or 7 seed and have a great resume. Need one road victory to really assure that seeding level. We are 3-5 in Quad 1, 3-1 in Quad 2, 3-1 in Quad 3, and 7-0 in Quad 4. There are no bad losses despite the early angst about St. Bonnie’s. They are 113 in the Net today and only 13 spots away from it becoming a Quad 2 loss, leaving us with no Quad 3 or Quad 4 losses , which the entire bubble cannot claim. Plus SFA is 84 today only 9 away from Quad 2 win, Pittsburgh is at 78, only 3 away from Quad 1 loss and Wisconsin is 33, only 3 away from Quad 1 win. The remaining 7 games are 5 Quad 1 and 2 Quad 2 games but Michigan and Illinois are 32 and 34 respectively and only 4 away from making all remaining games Quad 1 , which is the toughest schedule in the country. Furthermore, we have not been blown out yet and hopefully will not be the rest of the year, and almost no team in the country can claim that achievement. Our worst loss in the best conference in the country early in the year is by 12 and the more recent January / February losses are by 5, 5, 3, and 6.on the road or neutral . One last thing we are 16-0 at home, the best home record in the country . So let’s go get first place or at least the double bye and make a run at these championships, regular season and tourney. The win last night was huge but one that only a real good team can pull off.As expected we got hurt with a win in Kenpom and Bart. Of course it’s better then a lose. And at the end of the day, we control our own destiny
We were 32 in the NET before this win. We have to move up after this win.
So should we lose to Wisconsin so they can be a Quad 2?We are almost in the tourney and playing for a 6 or 7 seed and have a great resume. Need one road victory to really assure that seeding level. You misunderstood. At the time, Our win over them is a quad 2 instead of a Quad 1 because they were 33 in the Net not 30 or below. Our road game is a Quad 1. They are 29 in the Net today so they are a Quad 1 win but Purdue dropped to 33 , so they are now Quad 2.So should we lose to Wisconsin so they can be a Quad 2?
Where are you seeing them at 26? I see them at 31 this morningWe want Michigan, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Illinois to win as much as possible the rest of the year to have them as Q1 wins. Michigan 26 now so a win Wednesday would be our 3rd best of the season.

I was looking at Sunday’s Net where Rutgers was 28 and Michigan was 31. Michigan winover Indiana moved them from 31-26 and Rutgers from 28 back to 30;I'm also seeing them as 26.

My exact thoughts.you can see how close its packed in. I would say the 26-33 spots are in hairs of each other but alot of meaning depending where you fall. A win for RU on Wednesday and its likely RU moves to 26. Going to be tough to get any higher until we pick up a road win.
I was joking but yes I meant quad 1 and not quad 2.You misunderstood. At the time, Our win over them is a quad 2 instead of a Quad 1 because they were 33 in the Net not 30 or below. they built alot in the early season in the resume. For some reason losses do not effect them, not sure exactly why their NETS are not changing.
Thanks. Even in the nightmare scenario of 4 more Q1 losses, I would imagine our NET wouldn't go down all that much (45-50?) and if we win 2 of our 4 Q1 games, I would think we'd end up in the 20s, but then again I'm not an expert on the NET - are there folks who do such projections or is it insane, since you'd actually have to project every game remaining (or just go by all favorites, except for us, which makes the math far easier)?Updated

Dropped from 33 to 35 in the NET following last night's games. Wasn't too long ago RU was 18. Have to get a win in Madison.

I really hope the NCAA committee isn't going to pay much attention to NET and the 4 quad buckets. It is so silly to think NCAA chances hang on whether an opponent we play twice ends up with a NET of 35 vs 36.
I am starting to think the RPI is better tool. The reason is there is no margin bias, you know what the formula is, and you acknowledge how flawed it is and take it with a grain of salt.
Not sure what difference there would be between 35/36 in NET.... both are Q1 away / Q2 home. Maybe 29/30 on whether a game is Q1 or not? A shift of 5-10 ranking points would also only impact one of the two games we'd play against a team.
Also, not all Q1 games are created equal - the team sheets show if a team's Q1 wins are all ranked 73-75 on the road or 5-10 on the road.
At this point, we have 17 Div-I wins, and need more. We have at least 5 more games to add to that total.
