Illinois had some sketchy losses earlier...losing to Missouri and Miami which was at home are just flat out bad losses. Their non conference sos of 212 factors in as well

Ok, I can see that. What’s your take on OSU and MSU? (PS, as I write this, OSU is down by 20 points at Wisconsin)

As expected we got hurt with a win in Kenpom and Bart. Of course it’s better then a lose. And at the end of the day, we control our own destiny

2 spots down in net..no biggie

Note 4 B10 all 31-34. Very tightly packed.

Still i cant see how Arizona can lose to a mediocre UCLA and remain so high. Even worse is Michigan State not budging despite loss after loss

We are almost in the tourney and playing for a 6 or 7 seed and have a great resume. Need one road victory to really assure that seeding level. We are 3-5 in Quad 1, 3-1 in Quad 2, 3-1 in Quad 3, and 7-0 in Quad 4. There are no bad losses despite the early angst about St. Bonnie’s. They are 113 in the Net today and only 13 spots away from it becoming a Quad 2 loss, leaving us with no Quad 3 or Quad 4 losses , which the entire bubble cannot claim. Plus SFA is 84 today only 9 away from Quad 2 win, Pittsburgh is at 78, only 3 away from Quad 1 loss and Wisconsin is 33, only 3 away from Quad 1 win. The remaining 7 games are 5 Quad 1 and 2 Quad 2 games but Michigan and Illinois are 32 and 34 respectively and only 4 away from making all remaining games Quad 1 , which is the toughest schedule in the country. Furthermore, we have not been blown out yet and hopefully will not be the rest of the year, and almost no team in the country can claim that achievement. Our worst loss in the best conference in the country early in the year is by 12 and the more recent January / February losses are by 5, 5, 3, and 6.on the road or neutral . One last thing we are 16-0 at home, the best home record in the country . So let’s go get first place or at least the double bye and make a run at these championships, regular season and tourney. The win last night was huge but one that only a real good team can pull off.

The RECENT, is score-based and weights RECENT play more heavily than earlier games. Its effect will become
more pronounced the longer a season goes if a given team happens to have an upward or downward trend.

So should we lose to Wisconsin so they can be a Quad 2?

You misunderstood. At the time, Our win over them is a quad 2 instead of a Quad 1 because they were 33 in the Net not 30 or below. Our road game is a Quad 1. They are 29 in the Net today so they are a Quad 1 win but Purdue dropped to 33 , so they are now Quad 2.

We want Michigan, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Illinois to win as much as possible the rest of the year to have them as Q1 wins. Michigan 26 now so a win Wednesday would be our 3rd best of the season.

Where are you seeing them at 26? I see them at 31 this morning

you can see how close its packed in. I would say the 26-33 spots are in hairs of each other but alot of meaning depending where you fall. A win for RU on Wednesday and its likely RU moves to 26. Going to be tough to get any higher until we pick up a road win.

I was joking but yes I meant quad 1 and not quad 2.

Crazy to think that 8 of 14 teams (57%) qualify as a Q1 home win, and 4 more are Q2.

By contrast, the # of Top 30 teams in other conferences:
BE - 5 of 10 (50%)
B12 - 4 of 10 (40%)
P12 - 3 of 12 (25%)
ACC - 3 of 14 (21%)
WCC - 2 of 10 (20%)
SEC - 2 of 14 (14%)
MWC - 1 of 11 (9%)
AAC - 1 of 12 (8%)
A10 - 1 of 14 (7%)

Big East has definitely been doing well this year overall - might be a year they actually have more than one team escape the first weekend.

they built alot in the early season in the resume. For some reason losses do not effect them, not sure exactly why their NETS are not changing.

OSU's early wins are really good: Nova by 25, UNC by 25, PSU by 32, Kentucky on a neutral floor plus another 6 B1G wins (PSU counted above). It is a pretty darn good resume.

Going in to that game I had @OSU as the toughest remaining game on our schedule. I think they are very good.

Penn State took a big tumble 17 to 24 with just a loss to Illinois. Win tonight and we are at worst 26.

Wisconsin has RU, at Michigan, Minnesota Northwestern, at Indiana.

Without too much complication, the key B1G and season win has been Wisconsin at the RAC....it stopped the bleeding, avoided another 0-2 B1G season start and gave us a boost into SHU.

Wisconsin holds the key...if they win their remaining 2 other home games, they can afford a loss to RU visiting this weekend. I see Wisconsin as potentially 2 Q1 wins when all is said and done.

Thanks. Even in the nightmare scenario of 4 more Q1 losses, I would imagine our NET wouldn't go down all that much (45-50?) and if we win 2 of our 4 Q1 games, I would think we'd end up in the 20s, but then again I'm not an expert on the NET - are there folks who do such projections or is it insane, since you'd actually have to project every game remaining (or just go by all favorites, except for us, which makes the math far easier)?

Since the worst net team we are playing is 32 I dont think we fall all that much that scenerio...as you said maybe mid to upper 40s...still in play. Look if we lose all the regular season games, its going to take 2 quality wins. If somehow we stay 10..we can beat the 7 and then matchup against the 2...that is our path

Dropped from 33 to 35 in the NET following last night's games. Wasn't too long ago RU was 18. Have to get a win in Madison.

https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings

There's nothing RU can do about the NET rankings but last night strengthened their seeding.

Northern Iowa lost to Indiana State, which pretty much put a large dent into any thoughts of earning an At Large Bid from the MVC.

Stanford won at basement of the Pac 12 Washington, who is somehow 2-12 in conference play.

Arizona State won a home game vs Oregon which is 6th straight for them and went from 47 to 40. With Oregon State struggling, ASU is probably looking at another win.

Amazing how a home win for ASU jumps them up 7 spots, my expectation is beating Maryland at home will seal the deal for RU. Winning whatever road game left is also ideal, but winning any of the remaining 4 to 5 Q1 games will make this happen.

I really hope the NCAA committee isn't going to pay much attention to NET and the 4 quad buckets. It is so silly to think NCAA chances hang on whether an opponent we play twice ends up with a NET of 35 vs 36.

I am starting to think the RPI is better tool. The reason is there is no margin bias, you know what the formula is, and you acknowledge how flawed it is and take it with a grain of salt.

Not sure what difference there would be between 35/36 in NET.... both are Q1 away / Q2 home. Maybe 29/30 on whether a game is Q1 or not? A shift of 5-10 ranking points would also only impact one of the two games we'd play against a team.

Also, not all Q1 games are created equal - the team sheets show if a team's Q1 wins are all ranked 73-75 on the road or 5-10 on the road.

At this point, we have 17 Div-I wins, and need more. We have at least 5 more games to add to that total.

the committee is well aware of looking at record vs TEAMS IN THE FIELD, not sure if it is a written somewhere as criteria but Jerry Palm stresses this number a lot.......so no one should worry that much that Illinois is 33 and not a Q1 win while somebody like UConn is pretty bad and somehow counts as a Q1 win for some programs on the road.

Its why we want Purdue and Indiana to keep winning. We do not want them to turn into teams not in the field. We already lost Minnesota from the field
