One of South Carolina’s young QBs entered the portal recently. That said, I think they might be more likely to convince Smothers to stay.

Agreed but I think Sims is closer to CT as a passer than CT is to Sims as a runner.Thompson is a better passer than Sims
I would guess they will go get some grad transfer that was probably not going to play much but has some experience and maturity to help out.
Smothers will get D1 offers. It’s just a matter of who it is and what the Financial package is. NU’s cost of attendance deal alone is pretty good. CT leaving frees up a lot of NIL resources.Smothers will likely stay, I don't think he's going to get any other offers in the portal.
As a grad transfer he does notDoes he need to sit a year, since he already has been through the transfer portal? Maybe I missed the answer in this thread somewhere.
He had a tight window. He needs to join a team right away and get going with their summer camp.I thought the portal might decimate the RB room depth (and it still may) but I didn't expect last year's QB starter to leave and the QB room shrink so fast. We're now back to one injury away from big problems.
Thank you sir
There needs to be a rule that players can transfer ONE TIME during their career without having to sit out. Allowing both a undergrad/transfer portal and grad transfer is just stupid. As a grad transfer he does not
perhaps to those who are clueless when it comes to evaluating football playersthe room just went from pretty good to horrifying.
You’re right, it is likely they bring in another guy to be #2. Someone of their choosing.perhaps to those who are clueless when it comes to evaluating football players
I find these times to be quite exciting - opportunity abounds & Coach Rhule is creating the roster/team he wants
Not if Simms goes down and the staff doesn’t find a portal QB for their system..We will be fine.
Surely the TinyBabyBuffs have ditched some QBs we can look at?![]()
Not participating in the spring then posting video of him throwing bombs when the portal opened maybe should have been our sign….He had a tight window. He needs to join a team right away and get going with their summer camp.
Who told you Fleck or Tanner Morgan?Just told Minnesota is looking at Thompson.
Just told Minnesota is looking at Thompson.
Somewhere in Georgia I suspect.Where is that DR crystal ball sitting now?
There was a lot to like about CT. I really thought he would be a little more loyal and competitive. Maybe his rehab isn't going well.
Back in the day a fifth stringer would compete and improve himself to attain further heights. Now, first stringers, with even the slightest hint at competition bail.
College football has been ruined by this.
our current backup is a throwback to these times so sorely missed by so manyI liked CT. I hate this constant shuffle of players. How do you root for someone who has zero loyalty beyond today's game? But I do trust in Rhule. He seems to know how to adapt to today's changing game.
I don't think the Rhule and company are surprised by this.I doubt Casey wants to spend the coming season wearing a head set and holding a clipboard and those are live possibilities for him in Lincoln.
If we simplify the offense to primarily running, read option, and triple option, then sure. Maybe we can find some success still behind HH and Purdy as backups. I wonder if Rhule will make such an adjustment though, should they find Sims going down at any point this season?our current backup is a throwback to these times so sorely missed by so many
local stock, too
you'd think he'd be about as easy a player to root for as has ever donned the Scarlet & Cream
but, alas.........
