our current backup is a throwback to these times so sorely missed by so many

local stock, too

you'd think he'd be about as easy a player to root for as has ever donned the Scarlet & Cream

but, alas.........
Of course he’s easy to root for until you watch him try to play. There’s plenty of defensive ends and linebackers that have big arms and fast legs. Most of whom I assume lack pocket awareness, accuracy, coverage reading ability, etc. Hope he proves me wrong but he hasn’t yet.

There needs to be a rule that players can transfer ONE TIME during their career without having to sit out. Allowing both a undergrad/transfer portal and grad transfer is just stupid.
I talked to a guy who just retired from the NCAA. He said that someone will challenge the one time transfer rule without sitting and will win in court.

Portal and NIL have made this the wild west. I think the solution will likely have to be a contractual one between the "student" athletes and the schools they sign with somehow.

Well ****. I'm thinking we all need to reevaluate how Rhules first season is going to go now.

Without a competent backup to Sims (which we currently have ZERO now), loss of Wynn, thin/young depth on the lines, year 1 might be tougher than originally thought. More like his previous stops... Unfortunately.

Maybe not to the degree of having only 1-2 wins, but I see us struggling to get to 6 for a bowl game now. Unless Sims stays healthy, which just seems so unlikely as we all know how that's gone for our mobile qbs over the past decade.

I'm still all N on Rhule no doubt! But I won't hold it against him if year 1 sucks. We better prepare for youth movement kind of deal, which inevitably comes with growing pains.

Here's to looking forward to years 2 & 3... 🍻
Portal season is far from over. I’m going to be patient and see how it all shakes out. I think we take another portal QB.

I really like CT, but unless the staff told him to move on, this is weak AF. Compete and get the job back.

He wasn't going to play here unless in mop up duty unless Simms got injured.

The best-case scenario would be to have Logan return.
why? he's never done anything worthwhile here and if star rankings are any barometer he's gotten worse. not to mention 2 season-ending injuries.

we don't need smothers or torres (a zero star player with zero P5 offers) back. it's time to move forward.

this coaching staff has my full support.

imagine rooting this hard against a small town NE kid from a military family who's worked his way up from 6th string to backup amidst 3 different head coaches, offensive coordinators and position coaches?

some fan. couldn't ever be me.

There’s zero harm in rooting for the kid to succeed. Josh Allen was a guy at one point that NO ONE thought could play. I think Rhule is a straight shooter and there’s no reason for him to run some propaganda false flag operation saying HH has potential unless he really feels that way. The odds are against HH ever taking meaningful snaps at QB but why decide NOW as a fan that you’ve made up your mind?

should CT have stayed at Texas and competed
should Palmer have stayed at LSU and competed
what about Sims at GT ... the Georgia transfers .. Ben Scott

are those moves weak AF?

No one here has ever rooted against him. You’re just spinning that to be defensive because you’ve made it clear to everyone that you think he’s the second coming of Christ and then he had a bad spring game. There’s still time for him to get better, but in the meantime we need a quality backup for insurance purposes.

Nobody is “rooting against” HH. Nobody. Your cheerleading for a guy who can’t hit the broadside of a barn though is comical.

Concerning because we now only have one legit starting caliber QB. Was hoping for a Healthy CT this fall, thought he would open the passing game for us.

Wow. I didn't want to see him go. But I understand why he would. The doom and gloom in April is crazy.

As far far as HH. He was coached under arguably the worst coaches in terms of development I have ever seen. I'm excited to see what the new coaches can do.

We may no longer see the QBs being live in scrimmages unless there is a significant portal addition before fall camp

The amount of despair over losing a 4-win QB who can’t stay healthy or manage to keep a starting job is the entertainment I come to this board for

Entering the portal as a "grad transfer". So he got his bachelors degree at Nebraska? I hope all these transfers do okay in their schoolwork. Not many of them have any hope of a NFL career, so I hope they get a degree they can fall back on.

It used to be years ago that you had to complete 2 years worth of credits to graduate from a university. They must have modified those rules.

He was injured for some of those losses. He was hardly to blame for that record.

if you say so

coming from a guy who has repeatedly said a player with a career 45.8% completion rate (at 3 yards/attempt) "can win some games". comical, indeed.

Liked Casey, dont get me wrong Id rather keep him, but its not like he was going to win us a big ten title.

This is the new era of the portal and NIL. You will not keep multiple starting QBs on your roster unless you are Alabama and there are age differences. This will be the norm, so get used to it. QB is a different position and the only one that doesnt sub or play different roles/special teams. They will transfer a lot.

We have some good backups. In a perfect world purdy would leave and smothers would come back. Sims, HH, Smothers would be a good trio.

Might hit the portal ourselves.

Wont bash him, he owes NU nothing. He didn't quit on us last year when he easily could have. But if hes an opponent on our schedule. Hit him low, and hit him hard.

Tell my why you get so erect for HH?

He fvcking sucks, so bad that he is two years in and hasn’t taken a snap in a game.

thank you for sharing your opinion.

It appears we can add you to the list of posters who believe themselves to be better evaluators of quarterback talent than Coach Rhule & Coach Satt.
