If you don’t like Christopher Cross, you can burn in hell for eternity. Enjoy.

[laughing] holy **** and shaboodle

Every.Single.One of those Yacht-Rockers ate so gloriously awful that i have to admire the consistency fm the Yacht-skis

Ref: Sea Shanties -- both ny daughters & a nephew....lay claim to that genre. (Assassins Creed apparently being the inspiration)

Probably the single strangest genre someone could claim this side of Mongolian Throat Yodelers (( which is worse than Christopher Cross ))

-im old enough to remember when "yacht rock" was called "soft rock"...if you spent any time at the dentist/orthodontist you are well versed.

^like all genres there is great and bad...and alotta stuff in the middle.

-also old enough to realize "being too cool" for certain things is ****ing stupid, and robs you of possible joy.

^does this mean I'm gonna eschew/cast aside my OG indie/underground roots? Nope. That said...if you can't enjoy some chill 70's/80's soft rock in an appropriate setting...you're trying too hard.

But -- lets be honest here

I think we ALL know that enraging/Tourettes like sundrome that falls over you when you're trapped in s location with truly awful music being forced into your brain --->>>> theres a threshold where the REALLY bad stuff creates a kind of panicked anger inside me.....normally happens in Kroger, Middlesboro Mall Common Areas or inside ppls cars when they force awful county, the worst of Rap or the GD Beach Boys on you ---/

Maybe not everyone hits that level of visceral reaction though --- I DUNNO

I'd sail away w/Christopher Cross right into the Bermuda Triangle before purposely exposing myself to the TRULY awful types .....🌜🌜🪐

Not mad at Sonic in certain situations. Fritos chili pie is an all time side car item.

Consistent .50 corndog and $1 chili dog days are a nice reminder when I get them in my text inbox.

The new churro shake is also worth a stop.

We almost always hear ppl talk about how certain franchises have "gone downhill" over the years -- Pizza Hut seems to qualify - maybe Sonic had a golden era as well?

Arbys - Long John Silver's & Captain D's HAVE to be the all time worst tho

Music for the moments. Having drinks on the patio with the missus, I'm not blasting Metallica. Background noise.
Drinking on patio by myself, maybe some Outlaw country.
Driving down the highway, The Allman Brothers.
Music to pre-game to, Metallica, etc.
Time and place.

* Welcome back, Rogue.

* Not a surprise to you white collar frat boys, but I have zero problem with tat sleeves. To each his own.

* A quick message for you "too hot to drink bourbon in the summer" people... I have AC. My house is going to be somewhere around 70 degrees no matter what the season is outside (Thank you Bryant HVAC!), and bourbon has the same great taste and ability to elevate my joy from January thru December.

Now, I don't make a habit of pounding Eagle Rare around the pool. I did that one time this year and ended up with temporary amnesia and a couple of new Stage 5 Clinger neighbor friends that I don't recall meeting.

Cold beer is glorious. I've been making pitchers of muddled blueberries, Swerve, silver rum and blueberry pomegranate sparkling water - another wonderful Summer drink when sitting outside in the heat. Vodka lemonade. Gin & tonic. Etc. But I sure as hell am not going to turn down a little brown water because of time, temperature or atmospheric conditions.

I'm not mad at those White Claw/Truly/Ultra Seltzers around the pool, either. Judge me as you wish.

* I have not used my fire pit once this year. That is borderline criminal.

* My BIL just moved back here from California. My alcohol consumption will rise fairly dramatically.

* While I am extremely excited about Cal's recruiting rebirth and getting to watch the Cats play basketball in August (insert Snarky Bitches comment about looking forward to seeing the new recruits lose in the 1st round), I am fully Big Blue Bonered about football season.

This may be one of the last years to enjoy College Football as we know it and I certainly plan to.

* Alright, enough chit chat. I need to squeeze 2 weeks worth of work in to 4 days. Anyone have any lube?

* In the world of commercial coffee makers, there's Bunn, and there's everyone else.

Actually......is there anyone else? They've gotta own 100% of the market. If not more.

* It's not the peaks and valleys I like to see with the Greatest Program of All Time, but a down year followed by a "Win A Title Or You're Fired You Stupid Italian Fatass" mandate is pretty brilliant if played correctly. Looks good so far in this busy offseason.

* Nice little weekend. Hiked from Aspen over to Crested Butte on Sunday, spent the night, then came back in reverse on Monday. Mountain town thoughts.....

- Aspen = median home price in '21 was a slick $9.5 million. It's so perfectly neat/clean/upscale that it's kinda boring and a little intimidating. Fun for maybe a day or two, but it's just too much imho.
- Crested Butte = awesome place. Also extremely wealthy, but they still have some dirt roads downtown, and have managed to maintain plenty of dirtbag vibe. Big fan.

* My Reds have pulled off the unimaginable after a horrid start -- they're actually a pretty fun team to watch. I'm buying all the Lodolo stock.

* If you're interested in a political show that spends it's entire time ridiculing every single elected official and mainstream media talking head on the planet, Jimmy Dore is great in spurts. That guy is great, and nuts.

* That Veronica Vaughn is one piece of ace. I know from experience, dude.

* Movie and pizza and anal night tonight: Where The Crawdads Sing. Book was great.

* Just a simple, straightforward show, but I love Buster Olney's Baseball Tonight podcast. And while we're at it, congrats to Tim Kurkjian on being elected to the baseball Hall of Fame. What a well deserved honor, and his emotions around the recognition really highlight how much he loves the game.

* Top 5 Yacht Rock Jams:

1> Rick Astley -- Never Gonna Give You Up
2> Metallica -- One
3> Milli Vanilli -- Girl You Know It's True
4> C&C Music Factory -- Gonna Make You Sweat
5> USA for Africa -- We Are The World

* Gas down to $4.59/gallon here in the highest city in America. THANK YOU JESUS AND JOE BIDEN!!!!

* Never had a Chaco Taco in my life. Never even heard of it until yesterday.

* I consider myself to be a pretty generous guy, but damned if I'm not a much bigger taker than a giver when it comes to the Little Free Library sitch. Spotted a copy of The Road last week, and had to bring that home. I mean marcus.

* Top 5 obscure Cincinnati Reds.....

1> Jeff Branson
2> Jeff Treadway
3> Nick Massett
4> Corky Miller
5> Scott Sullivan

* 61 and sunny at the moment. Coffee in hand. Slanging some insurance and laying low today. Nice little Tuesday.

My family had somehow managed to get by for 2 1/2 years without a positive covid test and 3 of us have tested positive in a weeks time. Mainly flu like symptoms for the first 24-48 hours and then fatigue has been the main lingering effect. None of us were to the point of hospitalization but dang those flu like symptoms were rough.

And to think their 11-9 July slate could possible even be better were it not for the continuing ignorance of putting Pham/Votto in the 3/4 spots night after night. A sweet .197 and .180 respectively.

Soggy day randoms:

One if my most prized possessions when I had the big crew/shop was a Bunn coffee maker. Actually kept it when we sold the construction biz off. It's stored away for the time being.

Reds are much better than I thought they would be after the worst start in history.

Got a used copy of The Road off Amazon for about $4 after shipping. Always seemed like a book I'd like, but a little intimidated to read it.

Bourbon is a year around drink for me. I cut back in the summer months especially when the sun is out, but there will never be a better night cap.

Long John Silver's > Captain D's

This month has been whipping my ***. I'm pretty much over summer at this point. Rain day couldn't have come at a better time.

Rogue us definitely a weirdo. Probably why I like the guy. Glad to have him back in the state, now we just need to get him to not combo post so often.

Been hard to keep the garden going this summer it's been so hot and dry. We were within a couple of days of having to feed livestock at the farm due to pastures being dried up and dead.

Finished the most recent season of Stranger Things over the weekend. Not typically a sci-fi guy, but that show is so well done.

Getting ready to sell a flat bed F350 square body ('95) if anyone needs a good work truck.

The Road is possibly the most depressing, nihilistic book I’ve ever read. Great summer read!
I was completely mindf*cked for a full week after reading that as I had a son the same age as the kid in the book… The Road made Stephen King’s The Stand seem like a Horatio Alger novel.

only good thing is the Editor’s song, No Sound But the Wind was inspired by the Road.

-@MitchBarnhartBurner is not a bad parody account. Almost always good for a chuckle.

-Watched the first 30 minutes or so of Hereditary a couple years ago before turning it off.

No. F'n. Thanks.

-Like that white helmet on the Bengals, but absolutely worship what the NY Giants have done with their throwback, both in the design and also their social media rollout. Acknowledging the fans had requested it. Kept it a secret throughout the entire planning process. Nailed the actual threads and helmet. Great video content to promote it. Well done all around.

-Eager to see the new basketball threads. Trying not to get my hopes up, but we'll see. Cautiously optimistic.

-Good work, Cal.

-New baby is taking my office away (guest bedroom). To the basement I go. It's partially finished with flooring, but not that great. Going to make it MINE though. TV, couch, memorabilia; a proper BMW HQ. Could be dope?

-Not sure yet about his speed but like this RB transfer from Sam Houston State's pad level when he hits the GD hole. Kid runs hard. Ramon Jefferson. Great name.

That's my hesitation.

Lee's, KFC, LJS, and Cpn D's are all garbage. I'll hit one up every year or two, enjoy the meal, then almost immediately get a full reminder why I don't eat at any of them often.

If I'm going fried chicken here in Lexington, Indi's is my top choice followed up by Gus's. Chick Fila is in a different genre of fried yardbird so I'm not comparing them.

My yard has tripled in height today with the rain.

Percolated coffee (with egg shells in the grounds) is better than anything a drip maker (including Bunn) can do.

It's NOT better than a French press, but beats anything else.

It IS good, Colonel

I used to drink about 12-15 cups a day though the Air Force and Atlanta chapters

My mom specifically told me they gave me coffee with milk ---->>> IN MY FREAKING BABY BOTTLE---!???

Cut down to 6-8 cups in Georgia (coincidentally - thats when i took up the 'caine use)

finally - down to 2-3 cups a day
and drink "extra sleeytime tea" 3-4 nights a week

think you just helped me learn something about myself, airman

Church's isn't the best chicken...but the sides are phenomenal.

Honestly, Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich holds up with about anyone.

agreed and i dislike wendeys

never been to Canes - but both daughters insist its a cheap knockoff of zaxbys - flavorless but
decent ice tea
