The only optimism I have for this group to make a run in March based on what I’ve seen out of the top 10 in other games:

1. Play Sharpe and hope he is who the “experts” say he is. Best player in HS not named Wagner allegedly. Has a John Wall type of swagger or impact.

2. This team might just play to the level of their competition.

I'm starting to think this team just isn't very good.
They are good when they are running and playing up tempo; pressing and spreading the floor searching for shots. Cal is trying to force square pegs right now and play half court, force the drive or force the post up offense and suddenly we look the same as we have the last couple years on O.

Why is this acceptable?!?! Why are we OK with this?

I get that there isn't much we can do.. but then if the SEC is going to hamstring us (and they will), how can we be that mad when we take a few extra loses?
I agree with you, but the SEC has done it every year since Cal got here. It was REALLY bad in 2017.

Oscar actually plays pretty careful WHILE he is playing aggressive, but they're STILL calling every touch.

I think last year our offense was the worst thing I’ve ever seen. The year before that with Quickley, a Maxey, and Hagans it looked really good. Tonight has obviously been a struggle.

That’s kinda my point, I guess. The only time Cal’s offense is good is when he has at least one (usually needs more than one) NBA level guard to just create offense for everyone…Mackey, Hagans, and Quickley could create off the dribble.

That offense was still the same thing…ISO, pick and roll, etc…one guy creates while everyone else watches.

Why can he not coach an offense when he doesn’t have that level talent?

Wheeler has been horrible all night - Brooks is Brooks 1 rebound no assists
Cal not getting it done - this team going to lose several games in SEC
It may be recency bias on my part, but I feel like this is Wheeler's worst game.

I know I feel like I’m watching Groundhog Day.

What the heck are you talking about? UK fans have become so use to seeing players that can't shoot when we see teams with shooters we call it luck.
Well that might be true but some rando always throws up prayers that go in at Rupp.

To be fair there's no excuse for a 1 seed losing to a 16 even if they don't have their best player.
Depends to be honest. UVA only played like 7 guys and he was by their best player. Everything went through him. That's a lot to make up.

Why isn’t Cal running an O to get more 3 point shot opportunities with a great rebounder? Grady has had so few looks.
His Offence at UK has always been. Gooo make a play. Because that is what they do in the NBA. This is about getting them ready for the NBA. It has been since he has been here. Nothing new.

Why do our shooters spot up so far behind the 3 point line? We chuck so many shots from beyond 25 ft it's ridiculous. And we never make any of the.

Gotta give Southern credit, they played hard and smart. They definitely shouldn't have 5 losses, well, now 6.
