Well, VC can stand for a lot of things. It's primarily the abbreviation for Venture Capitalist. So trying to say VC has some historical context of meaning Viet Cong would only demonstrate a lack of historical accuracy on your part.

So, military members using the military alphebet refered to them an V-C or Victor charlie. That isn't demonstrating a historical context where Viet Cong were commonly referred to as VC. Tango Uniform - TU means toes up in the military. That isn't common in history for most people. Whisky Charlie - WC means water closet. Again, in a historical context no one is going to be aware of that. Tango Yankeee - TY means Thank you in the military, most people aren't going to know that.
If you've ever watched any movie or TV show about the war, you've heard the term "VC". Apocalypse Now, Platoon, Deer Hunter, Full Metal Jacket, . . .
With that said, I went back and found the original reference to VC, and would agree that nobody would assume he meant Viet Cong, unless they were a vet with PTSD from the war.

The only 1 of those I have seen was full metal jacket. I honestly don't remember much about other than the crazy drill sergeant and the fat guy killing himself.

Definitely a dumb argument. It was an even dumber statement by the original poster. I was just inquiring what he meant by the abbreviation and got bashed for not knowing something many seemed to be confused over. It was even more ignorant when he insinuated vet and viet rhymed.
I am sure to people more familiar with military terminology it is more commonly known, but most people don't possess that familiarity - particularly not on a basketball forum.
