No, it was just a stupid thread. You should apologize and hope people forget.
Some of you obviously never played the game. EJ played a pretty damn good first half. Drained a 3, rebounded and defended well with a nice block. A liability??? [laughing]
The overwhelming majority of posts said IF, IF he doesn’t show more...Funny thread that epitomizes why UK fans get a bad rap. I think there are plenty of other elite programs who would love to have EJ Montgomery on their roster. Declaring him as a liability after one exhibition game is jumping the gun, to say the least.
LOL, "our team must improve", well duhhhh, so does everyone else. You get many fewer, the pressure on the ball is immensely higher (Georgetown brought none), the duration for the open shot is much less, conversion on the boards is much faster and more efficient . . . . shall I go on? Yes, you get open shots but if you think there will be near as many, I have to ask again. First game?
The loss against Duke did a lot of damage. Yes, we recovered amazingly well. That said, we had a lot of posters that dumped on that young ball club last year because of the fools gold in the Bahamas. Today was fools gold. We are NOT a good basketball TEAM. Posters all wrapped up in individual performances. They are irrelevant. Our TEAM must improve.

Do you think Michigan State is going to be in March form when we play them?
Everyone has to get better, but you know what, even though we're thinner in the FC than we would like, we still have a lot to work with, more than most. We have a stable of guards and forwards that can easily make up the difference.
Lastly and probably the biggest point to make, the rotations you will see against MSU will not be the same. Cal was trying different things yesterday, he wasn't concerned with what Georgetown was doing. That changes when the games are real.
I look forward to this game against MSU, they have the advantage in the paint, but even though they have Cassius Winston, we have guards that are quicker, taller and bigger. We also have more of them.
I believe our shooting can match theirs with this team. Quickly v Winston is the matchup I want to see. Quickly is on a tear right now and appears to be our best guard at the moment. He makes fewer mistakes and shoots the ball really well.
We have a lot of weapons.
Nah baby my dad was great guy and yes I played the game. For all of you complaining about EJ I have a question, did you ever have a bad dad and have you ever play the game. As many have pointed out it's an exhibition game. Film will be looked things corrected. Plus a lot of new players and teammates to learn to play with. We will be fine.
you beat me to it.Nah baby my dad was great guy and yes I played the game.
It’s the FIRST exhibition game lol.
don’t be a clown.
Find something to do loser.
Seems like you're backtracking to me.This is pretty much the sort of thing that gets fans shocked at outcomes. You just mention names. I'm much more concerned about team defense. Passing skills. You know things that'll win the game for us.
I think you very well could be right here. I think his game is not what fits with this system, just like Skal was a square peg.I think it MIGHT be a long season for EJ . Mainly because he's the square peg in a round hole . We are desperate for beef and a strong inside guy or two . Its our obvious weakness and we really want EJ to be a stop gap inside. But he's a total finesse player , doesnt like to beat n bang and gets pushed around pretty easy . Put him on a team with a strong 4 and 5 and he might look fantastic . But if we think he's going to hold up as an interior player its going to be a frustrating year for him and us ( fans)
After meeting EJ last year in the Bahamas while standing in line he’s a really laid back Prince like player. He’s not as talented as Prince and the confident level isn’t there yet either. But he does have talent, it’s really going to be how much of a burn does he have in his gut to succeed. I do hope because this is fixable with a two year player.
Finding fault with EJ last night was easy. (We all winced at the bunnies he missed.)
But...But our HOF Coach has a knack for improving his team.
Factor that in before you write EJ's Epitaph. He'll find it.
Find something to do? Hey man, if you dish it out be able to take it.
I re-watched most of the game (yes, a preseason scrimmage) to focus in on EJ and Whitney, and neither played as badly as has been made out on this board. Both did some good things away from the ball and EJ in particular will be solid. I look for Whitney to slowly develop and come on during conference play.
Many on here probably forget that AD really struggled in a few early season games 2012. I'm not saying we have any AD talents here, but let's temper our expectations a bit.
I can dish it and take it, so if you want to call me names, it’s coming right back at you.

Agreed, and I don't intend to suggest that we have AD talents on this team, but it was also quite obvious that AD had better get some seasoning asap during the garbage tournament we played at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. It was plainly obvious that Davis was a total stud and game changer as early on as the Champion’s Classic game vs. Kansas. I don’t disagree with the gist of your post but it was pretty clear from the beginning that Davis was special.
I can dish it and take it, so if you want to call me names, it’s coming right back at you.
Prince was low key a killer, though, despite his seemingly laid back demeanor on the court.
Just telling you a little bit about him, yes I said he wasn’t as good as Prince.
THIS is what gives UK fans a bad rap...especially, when talking with fans of other schoolsBoy the ole' " have you ever played the game" is getting thrown out there a ton on this thread . Not many , if any , is stating EJ is useless and done for the year . Many stated he looked pretty damn mundane out there against far inferior competition , which was obvious . People state some truth on here and many just freak totally out .
I appreciate that. I know you said he’s not as good. I’m saying even Prince’s demeanor fooled you a little bit. He seemed like a chill dude but he ripped hearts out.
5 rebounds against Georgetown isn't acceptable. If he doesn't show better than that, there's reason for concern.
He touched 20 rebounds, and brought in 5. Against Georgetown.

I wouldn’t be so sure on that 84, unfortunately.I’ll tell you this, we play that game against MSU, we’re looking at another 118 - 84
